I love the wytches I listen to them everyday; I was so excited for this gig I've been talking about it for weeks. Before going, I pre drunk and it only kicked in a while later whilst I was at the venue, where I also got a shot of tequila. As it was an 18+ event it was strange that they didn't check ID before everyone entered. There was no cloak room and only one top for The Wytches in the merch. I saw the first band 'the vulgarians' and as I was walking to and fro the stage I bumped into the lead singer of the wytches, who I recognised and asked him if it was him and I told him I listen to them everyday, he was nice. As I was watching the pre bands I went to the lol, after that I don't remember anything at all until I found myself outside of the venue, begging the bouncer to let me back in as I really did not want to miss seeing the wytches. Apparently I was so drunk that I passed out or something and cut my knee, therefore my wristband was removed and I wasn't allowed back in by the bouncer, who even called my mum, what the fuck? I was deeply disappointed that I missed one of my favourite bands though I made great friends and enjoyed my night still.

The Wytches played July 21 at the Drake Underground in Toronto. The venue located in the basement of a historical hotel was the perfect location to see a band like the Wytches. Pet Sun opened for the band and offered some garage rock/punk to get the crowd going. Once the wytches stepped on stage things really got going. The crowd was really into The Wytches' blend of psycho surf/garage with a blend of grunge in there for good measure. This is the perfect band to see in a smaller venue that fits the frantic intimate style of the bands music. Great band, great venue, will gladly see them again
Not sure what I was expecting having not seen the band before, so how surprised I was to find myself jumping around at the front with the lively Young crowd that where at the o2 institute brum. Thundering vocals and sound smashing guitar reefs to boot. Excellent evening with stunning support from the amazing traams.
Still one of the best live acts I have seen. Massively underrated and incredibly noisy, if you see these guys in a small venue (now seen them twice in an old church and at Shacklewell Arms) and both times it's been visceral. Awesome.
Can't say as my 24 Y.O Friend and I were not allowed in to the gig because he didn't have a "valid" form of I.D...
So yeah not really sure what they were like, but sound good on Spotify

The wytches fan reviews ( 1 ), good venue, great music.
I liked the small nature of the venue with its wide stage which gave clear views of the bands. The sound was very good. I really enjoyed the music especially the local support band.

THE WYTCHES formed in Brighton in 2011 after meeting at music college. During their first year they relentlessly played any show they could find and managed to start picking up traction.
In 2013 the band signed their first record deals with Heavenly Recordings and Partisan (for the USA). 2014 saw the release of their debut album 'Annabel Dream Reader' and they would tour the world throughout the year, headlining shows and sharing stages with the likes of METZ, Cloud Nothings, Blood Red Shoes, Pixies and Jamie T.
Since then the Wytches have released two further albums and countless Eps. 2020 saw the band release their third album Three Mile Ditchon their own label Cable Code Records. The album is an explosive collection of 10 tracks that weaves seamlessly between gut-wobbling monster riffs, swampy rock, slick surf, and finely tuned song craft.
Since the return of live music in 2021, the band have appeared at a handful of UK festivals including Bigfoot, Handmade and Norwich Psychfest. Then in October 2022 they were finally able to embark on a tour in support of Three Mile Ditch. The album tour was a great success and allowed the band to showcase the new songs for the first time since recording back in 2019.
Fastforward to present day, 2023 sees The Wytches return once again to the stage, embarking on a tour of the UK and France. Dan Rumsey from the band adds - 'It feels amazing to finally be able to tour again in France. The French have shown us nothing but love over the years and we can't wait to return to their country' 2023 is set to be a busy year from the band as they prepare to release brand new music, having recently signed a deal with UK based label Alcopop!

The Wytches
The Wytches formed in 2011 after meeting at music college in Brighton. During these early years, the band relentlessly played any show they could find and managed to start picking up traction, eventually signing record deals with Heavenly Recordings and Partisan (for the USA). 2014 saw the release of their debut album, ‘Annabel Dream Reader’, an explosive collection of 10 tracks that weave seamlessly between explosive riffs, slick surf, furious garage rock, and fine tuned introspection. The record’s combination of visceral energy and haunting themes immediately struck a chord, introducing the band to a whole new audience. They would tour the world throughout the year, headlining shows and also sharing stages with the likes of METZ, Cloud Nothings, Blood Red Shoes, Pixies and Jamie T. Since then, The Wytches’ discography has expanded to three further albums and countless EPs. Most recently, last year saw the band release their fourth album, ‘Our Guest Can’t Be Named’, via cult label Alcopop! Records – a testament to both their evolution and staying power. Despite all that has come since, it’s still hard to believe ten years have passed since ‘Annabel Dream Reader’ first launched into our lives. To mark this occasion, The Wytches will be playing the full album for the first time in almost a decade, allowing a rare moment of retrospection for a band constantly driving forward.
“Crusading, crunching indie punk…a dash of melodrama to the songwriting…thoroughly addictive” – CLASH “One of the UK’s best-loved and well-regarded underground bands” – GIGWISE “Raw and absorbing…deserves our full attention” – The Line of Best Fit “Gnarly Disgusting Psych Rock. Super Visceral” – The Needle Drop “More ramshackle and hypnotising than ever before” – DORK “Sludgy, annihilating rock…a haze of rabid noise” – DIY

Midway through this interview with his bandmates, Wytches drummer Gianni Honey bursts through the door of Otto’s Shrunken Head in lower Manhattan more than a little worse for wear. His two bandmates haven’t seen him since the previous night’s gig.
“I’ve just come from Harlem!” Honey says. “I went with three random guys and some girl, stayed at some guy’s place. I’m still drunk, by the way. My hangover’s gonna be epic when it kicks in.”
See latest videos, charts and news
Clearly, things are as they should be for a young, loud, hairy British trio reaching the end of its first North American tour. The three-week trek with Cloud Nothings and/or Metz included such eye-opening experiences as seeing people on the street injecting heroin in Vancouver — “We’d never seen anything like that, it was really dark,” singer/guitarist Kristian Bell says — driving through the Arizona desert — “I could feel my skin cooking,” says bassist Dan Rumsey — and, less dramatically, many friendly fans’ couches, floors and guest rooms, accommodations the band often solicits from the stage.
Fito Páez Cancels Shows in Mexico & Colombia After Serious Accident
“I ask after the loudest applause,” Bell says. “‘I hate to be that guy, but can we stay at your house?’ It worked every night.”
Trending on Billboard
The band has largely followed the DIY path during its existence, which began when Bell and Honey moved to Brighton from their hometown (the indelibly named Yaxley, near Peterborough) in 2011, and connected with Rumsey after he was the only one to answer their ad for a bassist. But in the U.K., where the hype machine is dramatically compressed, the band found itself getting rave reviews and performing at festivals and with acts like Japandroids and Drenge with just a couple of singles under their belts. Here, they’ve gotten feverish responses from Pitchfork, Spin, NPR (who are premiering the group’s debut LP, Annabel Dream Reader , on First Listen), MTV, Vice and others.
That’s partially because their dark and scrawny sound — a seething cauldron of grunge, metal, surf and psych-rock that at times evokes a doomier Arctic Monkeys — is strikingly different from most of their peers. Singer/guitarist/main songwriter Bell says, “My dad was massive into ’70s rock — Sabbath, Deep Purple, Bad Company — but Nirvana were the first band I found on my own. Not many people were into [grunge] at my school so I held it close.” Shades of all those bands can be heard in Annabel Dream Reader , but its Aug. 26 release was still a month away at the time of this interview, and the band members still seem a bit perplexed by why people are so interested in talking to them.
“Is it like, nothing goes down in America until you’ve got an album out?” Rumsey asks. “I think I prefer that. It’s a bit weird [getting a lot of attention] just off of a couple of 45s.”
Spoon Might Take a Break for Another Divine Fits Record
Wytches are a young band, and they’re not all young — Rumsey is 29, Honey 24, Bell just 21. But they’re so of-a-piece that the age difference is surprising. “We can all be incredibly immature,” Honey says.
Yet the “m”-word can be heard in the newer, more introspective album tracks like “Weights and Ties” and “Summer Again.” Bell says that’s probably the direction his songwriting will follow next — not that there’s a master plan beyond U.K. tour dates that will carry them into December.
“Hopefully we’ll do three albums and that’s it — leave with a little integrity,” he says of the future. “We don’t want to drag it out. But we’re getting way ahead of ourselves [talking about it].”
Honey brings the conversation back into the present with a resounding thud. “I just want my own flat!”
