CLEVELAND, Ohio – This year's Vans Warped Tour was packed with all the pop punk, metalcore, post-hardcore and indie hip-hop you could want, with more than 100 acts performing between noon and 8 p.m.

There were several highlights from the day, including perfect weather. Here are five takeaways from the show at Blossom Music Center.

Upstart acts

You have to imagine that kids who went to the Warped Tour in 2005 and 2006 felt a similar feeling about Paramore as the fans at this year's Warped felt about We Are The In Crowd. Two albums in and all indications seem to be that WATIC could be the next big thing. The band's set, which featured popular songs like "The Best Thing (That Never Happened)" and "Never Be What You Want," was a highlight. Also emerging as a star at this year's Warped Tour was Tinley Park, Ill. pop-punk act Real Friends, which got the crowd going by boasting about the Midwest. The band's debut album drops Tuesday, but they were selling it at the Warped Tour ahead of time.

Beebs and Her Money Makers

Orlando ska-rock band Beebs and Her Money Makers didn't play in front of the largest crowd, but those who were in attendance likely fell in love. The band's style is a cross between early No Doubt and Reel Big Fish, only slightly heavier and more intense. At the center of it all is a charismatic front woman who goes simply by Beebs. At one point, she zeroed in on a young man in the crowd who was whipping the crowd into a frenzy and gave him a shout out. No doubt, it made the young man's day.

Heavy metalcore

Iowa Christian metalcore band For Today's name was misspelled on the Warped Tour's schedule sheet (it read: For Today Today). However, those who saw For Today's set on the Kia Soul Stage won't soon forget the band's name. It was a raucous onslaught of hard-hitting metal with singer Mattie Montgomery's roar leading the way. Big name metalcore acts like Of Mice & Men and Every Time I Die brought the noise later in the evening, but acts like For Today held things down early. Devil Wears Prada also gave a noteworthy performance, one that featured some of the most intense crowd surfing of the day. Midway through, a guy was carried to the first aid tent after shattering his nose in a mosh pit. He was smiling.

Meet the parents

Unlike most of the shows that visit Blossom Music Center, the main audience for Warped Tour are teenagers. And with teenagers comes a ton of parents who couldn't care less about bands named Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! and Attila. So they're forced to find other things to do. Anyone who thinks the art of reading hard copy books is dead, hasn't been to a recent Warped Tour. Reading seemed to be the popular activity for parents, followed by resting in the shade. There was also a "Reverse Daycare" to keep them busy. Later on their kids can take them home and tuck them in.

It didn't take pop-punk veterans Yellowcard long to justify having one of the biggest crowds of the day. The band opened things up with "Way Away," before absolutely taking over the main section of Warped Tour with a rendition of "Ocean Avenue." With the younger acts of today not yet reaching the heights of big names from Warped Tours past, a highlight of the festival has become watching acts that got their big break at the festival return. Yellowcard didn't disappoint. If you missed them, you'll have another chance on Monday when the band plays the inaugural AP Music Awards in Cleveland.

Warped Tour 2014: Every Time I Die, Born of Osiris + More Rock Monster Energy Stage

Fans packed the parking lot of the Nikon Theater at Jones Beach in New York City for an onslaught of sweaty mayhem that concertgoers have come to know and love over the past 20 years.

The Monster Energy Stage at Warped Tour kicked things off early and really heavy as Chelsea Grin delivered a crushing performance.

Other high energy sets included acts such as Attila , the talented old-school hardcore band Terror , Long Island’s own Stray From the Path and Ice Nine Kills. The second part of the day on this stage was rocked by Born of Osiris , Every Time I Die and For All Those Sleeping. Vanna had a forceful set and even let a lucky fan storm the stage and sing the last song of their set.

Warped Tour 2016

Warped Tour 2016 is the 22nd edition of the Vans Warped Tour. The lineup release show took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida on March 22, 2016 and featured performances by Less Than Jake , Wage War , Dash Ten and Real Friends .

The tour returned to Alaska for the third annual Road to Warped Tour show and featured 2016 artists Crown the Empire , Reel Big Fish , Sleeping With Sirens , State Champs and Sum 41 along with local Alaskan artists.

The tour was scaled back this year and featured only 7 stages: two main stages sponsored by Journeys named the Left Foot Stage and Right Foot Stage ; two stages sponsored by Monster Energy named the Monster Energy North and South Stages ; the Poseidon Stage ; the Cyclops Stage ; and the Full Sail University Stage . The Full Sail University Stage featured bands chosen to represent their respective record labels on the tour.

The Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands returned for the 20th year. Unlike previous years where 4-5 winners were chosen to play the Ernie Ball Stage each day, this year's scaled back version of the tour featured only 1 winner for each date. The winner was allowed to open one of the Main Stages each day on the 2016 tour.

An official rumor?

Shot in the Dark - Corona, CA band Shot In The Dark became the first band officially announced for next year's tour when Lyman announced on his Twitter feed that they'd been signed. A band formed just this year at the West Coast Rock School of Corona, California, the band is fronted by 11-year-old Jacob Chabot, with Jarod DeShong (12) on drums, Austin Schmidt (16) on lead guitar, Taylor Martino (14) on rhythm guitar, and Spike Snyder (15) on bass guitar. Lyman also tweeted that "11 year old Jacob is a bad ass," and I'm inclined to agree. While Shot In The Dark has yet to record or release anything, their YouTube channel has a collection of live clips exhibiting some serious rock from these pint-sized rockers.

Here are the bands we've heard rumored for the tour so far.

According to a few message boards online , Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman posted some rumors regarding the band's appearance next year. Depending on the source, Lyman either said something to the effect of "look for NOFX next year," or that they "may play next year." A scour of his twitter feed reveals no such posts, so it may have been deleted. The one thing that's known for certain is that NOFX has been announced to be headlining the Rebellion Fest in Blackpool, England in the summer of 2014, so if they are going to be making an appearance at Warped, it won't be for the entire run.

He's the hardest partier in rock and roll, a self-professed brony, and known for bringing energetic sets to the Vans Warped Tour, so it would be no surprise if Andrew WK showed up on the 20th anniversary tour. Another rumor (this one verifiable) has arisen from Kevin Lyman's twitter, based on an exchange between Lyman and Andrew WK back in April.

@KevinLyman Just thinking about you and all the amazing times, and wanted to say THANK YOU and PARTY HARD, Kevin!

To which Lyman replied:

@AndrewWK save aug 9 and 10th 2014 for the 20th anniversary decades show have to have you on the show, to party hard with all the bands

Who knows if the exchange carries any weight, or if it was just a bit of rock and roll pillow talk? We'll see if it transforms into actual dates.

Bring Me The Horizon

Pupfresh.com has posted that British metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oliver Sykes announced at the West Palm Beach date of the Warped Tour that they would be back on the tour in 2014. Again, while it would be no surprise if these Warped Tour veterans made the trek in 2014, I am leery of giving too much weight to these sort of statements, possibly made while under the influence of the adoration of the fans. Back in 1999, Ice T announced at the end of an incredible set in Detroit that his hardcore band Body Count had been signed to play in 2000, something that never transpired. That being said, a reunited Body Count is playing at the 2013 Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, so perhaps Kevin should get on the phone and get them to deliver on that promise that Ice T made over a decade ago...

This is one that sits firmly in the realm of rumor and speculation, In October, Kevin Lyman posted this on his Twitter feed:

do any of you guys remember @oreskaband think we should try to get them back on warped

Without the inclusion of punctuation, it's tough to tell if he's asking his followers if he should try to get the all-girl Japanese ska group back, or if he's saying he thinks he should try to get them back. What's known for sure is that they were on the tour in 2008 , and Lyman was a big fan. I caught their set at his insistence, and whole-heartedly agree. They played fast tight ska punk that hammered it's way through the barriers set up by the band's limited English. OreSkaBand released Hot Number in February of this year, and if they return to Warped, there's a good chance they'll be one of the hottest numbers on this year's tour.

Who will not be playing the 2014 Vans Warped Tour?

Touché amoré.

Although it's too soon the fully explore the lineup of the 2014 Vans Warped Tour, it's definite that one band will not be on the tour, and that's Los Angeles-based post-hardcore band Touché Amoré. When asked by OC Weekly if the band would ever play Warped Tour frontman Jeremy Bolm said:

No way, not at all. Nothing against our friends who have done it. Last year, Title Fight; this year, Defeater is doing it, which is fine. I appreciate that there are honest bands that are on it. There are kids who have no idea about this world, who if they see a band like Title Fight or a band like Defeater that maybe it will open their eyes a little bit to our world as opposed to a world with misogyny and ignorance and nothing to offer any-body which is what 95 percent of what Warped Tour is. It's a bit of a convoluted statement that's heavily laden with PC buzzwords and no concrete example, but while I'm not sure what it is about 95 percent of Warped Tour that makes it filled with "misogyny and ignorance", it's certain that Bolm is not in love with the tour.
