ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DUBAI TOURIST VISAS

The Dubai government has a straightforward visa policy for tourists. Below is an overview of the process, including the different types of Dubai tourist visas and the required documentation for application.

If you plan to visit Dubai soon, this blog is for you. Remember, you must get a tourist visa to visit the city for leisure activities.

FIVE-YEAR MULTIPLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA

This visa benefits families of expats residing in the UAE, as they can visit their loved ones easily without going through the application process multiple times.

Passport holders of all nationalities can apply for the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa as approved by the UAE Cabinet during a meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The visa based on self-sponsorship will allow the individual to stay in the country for up to continuous 180 days. Furthermore, valid 5-year tourist visa holders can request an extension for 90 days to enter and exit the UAE as often as needed.

The government announced this multi-entry tourist visa in 2022. Tourists do not require a sponsor. However, a six-month bank statement reflecting a 4,000 US dollar balance (or equivalent in other currencies) has to be submitted with the visa application.

If you arrive in the UAE without evidence of prior approval, the medication will not be allowed into the UAE and you may be prosecuted. For information on controlled medicines or the process for obtaining permission, contact the UAE Ministry of Health on [email protected] or call +971 800 11111.

In all cases, there are limits on the amount of medication that can be brought into the UAE legally. The Ministry of Health advise you can bring up to 3 months’ supply of medication as a visitor, reduced to one month’s supply if the medication is included in the list requiring approval.

You do not need to complete this approval process if you are only transiting airside through a UAE airport and will not pass through UAE immigration to enter the UAE .

Some developers in Dubai are offering and paying for multiple Golden Visas to investors and their family members in order to attract high-net-worth individual buyers.

Investors and end-users buying property worth Dh2 million or above are eligible for the 10-year residency programme in the UAE.

Damac Properties, the largest private developer in Dubai, has been offering three Golden Visas to buyers of Violet unit at the Damac Hills 2 project and bearing the cost of the 10-year residency visas. The master developer announced that its 600 units worth Dh1.2 billion of Violet Phase 3 were sold out in just a few hours after the launch, reflecting that the demand of the Golden Visas is staying strong among property buyers.

“Golden Visas have become a large reason why investors are buying property in Dubai. It is also one of the things that investors don’t realise that they are eligible for because it is still relatively new. So we wanted to be a pioneer in the market to offer this as a token of appreciation to investors that have entrusted us with their investments,” said Amira Sajwani, managing director at Damac Properties.

The 10-year visa, through property investment or other avenues, has been quite popular among investors.

“The UAE’s Golden Visa programme provides long-term residency options of up to 10 years for investors, entrepreneurs, and highly skilled professionals. To qualify, applicants must invest at least Dh2 million in local property or businesses. The programme has been pivotal in attracting global talent and investment,” said Get Golden Visa, which provides services of second residency or citizenship.

Imran Farooq, CEO of Samana Developers, also confirmed that they offer multiple Golden Visas and process these visas at the company’s premises.

“There is no need to visit the government offices for this purpose. The visa processing team at Samana takes care of the entire visa process. Samana Developers can also handle shared properties in case of husband-wife and shared partners,” he added.

Echoing his industry peers, Danish Shareef, managing director of Blanco Thornton Properties Dubai, said real estate developers are offering and paying for multiple Golden Visas to investors and their families to enjoy the benefits of long-term residency with hordes of other perks, with their multiple investment prepositions.

“We, at Blanco Thornton Properties, offer Golden Visa to investors purchasing property starting from Dh2 million at our Al-Barari, Majan project and a host of other upcoming projects to be launched at premium locations of Dubai,” he said.

Highlighting the impact of the 10-year residency, he said Golden Visas have attracted investors and high net worth individuals across the globe.

Anmoll D Shroff, founder and chairman of Elton Real Estate Development, said developers in Dubai frequently cover the visa costs, using it as a marketing tool to add significant value to property deals, particularly targeting high-net-worth individuals and their families interested in establishing a long-term presence in the UAE.

“Our company will offer a range of premium properties priced between Dh1.40 million and Dh3.20 million. While the Golden Visa is an attractive incentive for many investors, we evaluate each client’s needs individually to design tailored solutions that align with their investment goals,” he said, adding that while the policy has great potential, it’s important to ensure a balanced approach to maintain the value of luxury properties and encourage genuine investment.

“With careful management, this strategy can effectively attract buyers who appreciate both the residency benefits and the quality of the property itself, contributing to a healthy and dynamic market. Overall, this strategy aligns well with Dubai’s vision of becoming a global hub for business and tourism, while also ensuring a steady influx of investment and talent,” he said.

Procedures for UAE visa amnesty seekers who have lost passports clarified

Uae government.

To begin with, obtaining a lost passport certificate is a must

Lost passport - lead

ABU DHABI: The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has clarified due procedures to be followed by Amnesty seekers who have lost their passports.

It has said that with regard to the Executive Department of Residency and Foreigners Affairs - Abu Dhabi, a request must be submitted through the smart system, where the applicant is given an extract of the residency details and a certificate stating that the passport has been lost in order to obtain a travel document.

Get exclusive content with Gulf News WhatsApp channel

For people applying for Amnesty in Abu Dhabi, an application through the ICP smart system must be made to obtain a document with details about the expired residency or entry permit and a lost passport certificate, following which they should go to their respective embassies and consulates to get new passports or travel documents issued.

In the case of other emirates, applicants should go to the police headquarters to get a certificate from the Lost Passport Services and then visit the embassy or consulate for travel documents or new passports.

For a child to leave the country, the parents should get a passport or travel document for the child and either go to an Amnesty centres or apply online to get an exit pass.

Parents who have been staying illegally but are looking to change their status and stay in the country can also amend the status of their children without paying fines.

The authority said UAE residents who have lost their passport within the country must apply for a new passport and get their residence visa stamp in it. The loss of the passport must be reported to the nearest police station where a special form must be filled out for due formalities.

If they are in a country other than home country or the UAE, they must contact their country’s embassy or consulate in that country regarding the procedures for reporting a lost passport or getting a new passport issued.

In the case of minor’s passport being lost, the guardian (sponsor) must report the loss of the passport at the police station.

If the lost passport belongs to a person working under the sponsorship of a company in the country, he must submit a letter to the police department in the emirate where he resides, reporting the loss of the passport. The letter must be printed on the company’s letterhead and a copy of the company’s trade licence and establishment card must also be provided to the police.

If the lost passport belongs to a person sponsored by his family, he must submit a letter about the loss of the passport, signed by the sponsor, and attach with a copy of the sponsor’s passport.

In Dubai, passport loss procedures are linked to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) and Dubai Courts .

After receiving the initial police report, the person must visit the relevant court, as well as the Public Prosecution and GDRFA which issued his previous visa to document the lost passport report in their records.

After getting necessary approvals from these authorities, the person must return to the police station where the lost passport was reported and an official certificate of the loss of the passport be obtained.

Upon receiving the official certificate of lost passport, the customer must visit his country’s embassy/consulate in the UAE and apply for a new passport.

When you are issued a new passport, you can return to GDRFA and request to affix the residence visa to your passport.

The new residence visa has the same validity as the old one. If it has expired, a new residence visa with a new validity date, according to applicable procedures, will be issued.
