Medjugorje Pilgrimage 2024 or 2025 tour spends one week in the peaceful mountain hamlet in Bosnia-Herzegovina where the Virgin Mary has been appearing since June 25, 1981. After arriving in Dubrovnik, Split, or Sarajevo, you will be met by a local guide from Medjugorje who will bring you back to his home village recounting the story of Our Lady’s first apparitions along the way. You will attend Mass and pray the Rosary daily with the villagers and other pilgrims from around the world at St. James Church . During the Medjugorje Pilgrimage, you will have the opportunity to climb Apparition Hill where Our Lady first appeared, and to make the Way of the Cross as you ascend Cross Mountain . Your guide for the Medjugorje Pilgrimage Tour will arrange for you to meet any of the visionaries who are in the village at the time and to hear young men from the Cenacolo community share their stories of conversion and witness to the healing power of Faith. It is said that Our Lady invites all her Children to Medjugorje to lead them to a closer relationship with Her Son, Jesus, and to exhort us to Pray for Peace in our hearts, in our homes, and our communities. “…more than 40 million people from all faiths, including many people with illnesses and problems, have gone on pilgrimage to Medjugorje, a small town in Bosnia-Herzegovina since the first apparitions were said to have taken place there in 1981. Indeed, today more pilgrims go there than to Lourdes, the famous Marian shrine in France, although Fatima continues to draw the same numbers as before the Medjugorje phenomenon.”

My pilgrimage to Medjugorje last September 2024 was great! Catholic Journeys made the pilgrimage tour more meaningful by providing the group with a priest, Father Peter who was very accessible for private masses and prayers, blessings of religious items and holy reflection in between the scheduled tours. They arranged the airplane tickets and tours for me. Everything went smoothly with the airplane ride and transfers. I was the only one travelling from Los Angeles. But, I met fellow pilgrims at the Chicago airport, where we took off to Vienna. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about Medjugorje and its history. His dad picked us up from the airport and his brother took us to the airport in the wee hours of the morning. All these three men made everything timely and efficient. The food at the hotel was also wonderful! The staff were pleasant and accommodating. Lastly, Hannah of Catholic Journeys was very helpful and accessible in answering any questions that I had. I only communicated with her online. I never spoke with anyone over the phone. That is when you know you can trust Catholic Journeys. Thank you for a wonderful, peaceful and solemn Medjugorje pilgrimage tour.

Thank you for taking such good care of us in preparation for our Medjugorje pilgrimage and during our time on pilgrimage. The experience is something that is so special it is difficult to convey the emotions felt as we journeyed through all the special events and time of private prayer. While a prayerful time it was upbeat and heartwarming. We meet amazing people and hope we can stay connected. Thanks also for the professional way you handled our personal requests. We are interested in a Lourdes trip in the spring time.
Thank you and God Bless you for the Catholic pilgrimages you do,
Rosemarie and Pat
Hello, I wanted to give a bit of a review from my pilgrimage to Guadalupe Mexico on August 31 to September 5th of this year. I thoroughly loved the experience. We had such a wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable and gave us insights into each area we visited. He was also very kind and patient! He handled all of our personalities and demands with ease!! He really made our pilgrimage tour as great as it was. His assistant was delightful as well. Juan, our bus driver, was skilled and nice and I always felt safe in his hands.
Our hotel, Le Meridien Hotel, was amazing. The room was very large and comfortable, meals great, and location good.
Absolutely loved the farewell dinner at restaurant Arango -great food and view! Father David was a great spiritual guide. Loved him!
All in all, a wonderful pilgrimage tour.

The uniqueness of the place lies in the large number of such fruits: abundant conversions, a frequent return to the sacraments (particularly, the Eucharist and Reconciliation), many vocations to priestly, religious, and married life, a deepening of the life of faith, a more intense practice of prayer, many reconciliations between spouses, and the renewal of marriage and family life. It should be noted that such experiences occur above all in the context of pilgrimages to the places associated with the original events.
On June 25, 1981, in the small village of Medjugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Blessed Virgin Mary began appearing to six young teenagers on Mount Podbrdo, now known as Apparition Hill. Since that time, Our Lady has continued to appear and give messages of hope and a call for conversion in order to bring peace to the world. In response, over 40 million people have journeyed to Medjugorje to experience what many refer to as “Heaven on Earth”. Medjugorje is also known as the “confessional of the world” and has been the site of countless conversions and life-changing experiences.
Medjugorje was the original inspiration for the foundation of 206 Tours, after our president and founder went there on a life-changing pilgrimage. The first group of 206 Tours pilgrims visited in 1985 and we have been sending more groups ever since.
In 2018, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Henryk Hoser as the “Apostolic Visitor” to Medjugorje who was then succeeded by Archbishop Aldo Cavalli. On May 13, 2019, the Holy See officially announced that Dioceses and Parishes throughout the world are now authorized to organize pilgrimages to Medjugorje.

Days 3 - 8: Experiencing Medjugorje
The most beautiful features of Medjugorje are its simplicity and peace. While in Medjugorje, you will have the opportunity to deepen your faith and share in the spiritual journey of pilgrims from around the world . A local guide will accompany your group throughout your stay in the village.
Some activities that will accompany you in your spiritual journey:
Attend Daily Mass: Each morning at 10:00 AM, your group will assemble at St. James Church for Holy Mass (English-speaking). At the end of each Mass, regardless of language, there is a blessing of religious articles for pilgrims.
Climb Apparition Hill: This mountainous hill is where the visionaries first encountered Our Lady. At the base of this hill is a Blue Cross, where Our Lady appeared to the children while they hid from the communist police in the early days of the apparitions. Mirjana also had public apparitions at this holy site on the second of every month. While climbing to the top of Apparition Hill, pilgrims are invited to recite the Rosary, pausing five times to pray each decade of the Rosary in front of the large bronze reliefs depicting each mystery. At the top of the hill , there is a statue of Our Lady in the exact location of her first apparition. Enjoy private time for prayer in this holy place.
Climb Mt. Krizevac (Cross Mountain): In 1933, the Medjugorje villagers built a 30-foot high cross atop the mountain to commemorate Jesus’ passion and death on the cross. You will have the opportunity to climb this mountain and venerate that very cross. While climbing, pilgrims pray the Stations of the Cross to meditate on Jesus’ suffering, pausing fourteen times for each station at the large bronze reliefs. Take private time at the top of the mountain before the cross for prayer in this holy place.
Apparitions: Each evening at 5:00 PM (or 6:00 PM from June 1st – until September 1st), you and fellow pilgrims will join Medjugorje villagers in saying the Rosary, to celebrate Our Lady’s apparitions at 5:40 PM (6:40 PM). After the Rosary, you can stay to attend the Croatian Mass. Following the Croatian Mass, there is a Blessing of the Sick.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Our Lady has always called us to be close to her Son. In response to her call, pilgrims will have the opportunity to adore the Blessed Sacrament at the altar outside of St. James Church. Adoration is on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Veneration of the Cross is on Fridays inside the church. Additionally, there is an Adoration Chapel on the grounds of St. James Church, where Adoration is held in the afternoon hours . Eucharistic Adoration is one of the most memorable experiences in Medjugorje. God’s grace is so tangible that one feels as though they can touch the Holy Spirit. During the service, the outside altar is surrounded by several thousand pilgrims and locals, as everyone rests in deep prayer.
Visit the Community of Cenacolo: Pilgrims will have the opportunity to visit the Community of Cenacolo, founded by Sr. Elvira Petrozzi, for young men and women who have taken the wrong path and are on the road to recovery. You will be able to listen to their inspirational testimonies about their journeys back to Jesus Christ.
Prayer at the Statue of the Risen Christ: The bronze statue of the Risen Christ is located on the grounds of St. James Church. This statue miraculously seeps droplets of water out of Christ’s right knee. Many pilgrims sit and pray on the benches surrounding this statue.
Visit Tihaljina: Just 20 miles from Medjugorje, you will visit the Immaculate Conception Parish Church, which contains the Our Lady of Grace statue that many pilgrims associate with Medjugorje. Here, you will have a private mass for your group and time for prayer.
Visit to Široki Brijeg: Only 18 miles from Medjugorje, you will go to Široki Brijeg after visiting Tihajlina. Here, you will see the Franciscan Friary of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is where, on February 7th, 1945, thirty Franciscan friars were executed for refusing to renounce their faith. Fr. Jozo Zovko, the parish priest who was in Medjugorje when the apparitions began, was stationed here as guardian for many years and received thousands of pilgrims at this church.
Day 9: Medjugorje - Home

About your trip
About medjugorje.
Medjugorje, located in Bosnia & Herzegovina, is the site of the 1981 Marian Apparitions. On June 24th 1981 six children witnessed the Blessed Virgin Mary on what is now known as Apparition Hill. The apparition of Our Lady had a message of peace for the world, as well as a call to conversion, prayer and fasting. She appeared to them with an infant in their arms and confided several secrets to the children. Some of the children, now adults, continue to witness Our Lady’s apparitions. Medjugorje is a place of peace and prayer where over 40 million people have visited the now popular Pilgrimage site. In 2018 Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Henryk Hoser the “Apostolic Visitor” to Medjugorje in steps to officially recognize Medjugorje as a sacred Catholic site. On May 13, 2019 the Holy See officially announced that Dioceses and Parishes throughout the world are officially authorized to organize Pilgrimages to Medjugorje. About the Six Medjugorje Visionaries

DAY 2 – 7 THE MEDJUGORJE PILGRIMAGE (BD DAILY)
“I have come to tell the world that God exists … that peace is necessary for the salvation of the world. Mankind must be reconciled with God and with one another”. These words came as a soothing balm to a troubled world and were first spoken by Our Lady to six village children in June 1981. Since then, a legacy of remarkable events has turned Medjugorje into one of the world’s most acclaimed pilgrimage places. For more than 40 years up until the present day Our Lady has been appearing on a daily basis to give countless messages to the children. Some of these messages are private, some are for all people and some contain secrets that Our Lady has revealed to the children about future events of the world.
Healings, miracles, wonders and conversions – these have been occurring for so long. Endless streams of pilgrims over the years have come to receive these graces and return to their homelands renewed.
The activities here will be evenly proportioned by our guide throughout the stay to allow time for rest and personal retreat. Each evening we should be advised of the following day’s agenda, as many events in Medjugorje are spontaneous. Here are some of the highlights we hope to include:
• The Hill of Apparitions – Make the journey in prayer up to this sacred site where the first apparitions took place and Our Lady first told the children ‘I have come to tell the world that God exists … that peace is necessary for the salvation of the world’.
• Climb Mt Krizevac – The Mountain of the Cross dominates the landscape. Pray the Stations of the Cross and ascend the grace-filled path, which rises to the breathtaking summit with its commanding 30-foot cement cross built in 1933.
• Visit Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Retreat House – commonly known as “the Castle”, and hear the amazing testimony of Patrick Latta , a successful businessman and car dealer from Canada, who received a great grace of conversion through the messages of Our Lady. In 1993, he and his wife Nancy left everything behind and moved to Medjugorje during the height of the war.
• Visit the Cenacolo Community – ‘Field of Life’ is the name of the community that Sr Elvira has founded for young men who were once drug addicts. We will be touched to hear their miraculous testimonies of faith.
• Special visionary events – Join Ivan’s prayer group during a special outdoor apparition or be present when Vicka has a special meeting at night on Mt Krizevac (subject to spontaneity).
• Meet the Visionaries – The visionaries regularly receive groups, give explanations, pray with and answer pilgrims’ questions (subject to spontaneous availability).
• Inspiring talks – There is an enriching Franciscan talk most afternoons in English.
• Share occasional group gatherings – Optional and led by your Priest, for voluntary sharing, prayer or group rosary.
• Enjoy personal free time daily – All activities listed do remain optional.
• Day tour to Dubrovnik – visit the beautiful walled city known as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’. Within the stone walls of its Old City, we embark on a guided tour, visiting the Basilica of St Blaise, where we celebrate Mass before setting out on our exploration of grand palaces, buzzing plazas and remarkable churches.
MEDJUGORJE EVENING PRAYER PROGRAM & CONFESSION (Summer times/Winter times)* 5:00/6:00 pm – Joyful and Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary 6:00/7:00 pm – Holy Mass in Croatian After Mass – Blessings of objects, Prayer for health of soul and body, Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament (Tue/Thu/Sat) Veneration of the Holy Cross (Fri) *(Summer time: June 1st to August 31st / Winter time: September 1st to May 31st)

Welcome to Rome
Tonight gather with your fellow pilgrims for our first group dinner in the Eternal City.

DAY 9 ROME - THE VATICAN & COLOSSEUM
We start our pilgrimage today with a visit to the Vatican Museums . Wander the spectacular chambers leading to the Sistine Chapel to view Michelangelo’s masterpieces, including the magnificent fresco of the Last Judgment. Continue through to the awe-inspiring St Peter’s Basilica , the largest church in the world for an informative exploration. Our guided tour will feature among other highlights Michelangelo’s stunning Pieta, the tomb of Pope St John Paul II , the great Confessional and the Crypt containing the tombs of several Popes.
In the afternoon we enter into the most visited attraction in Rome – the Colosseum . In 1749, Pope Benedict XIV declared the Colosseum a sacred site, as it was a place where early Christians had been martyred. View also the Circus Maximus and the Roman Forum en route.
DAY 10 PAPAL EVENT, ST PAUL’S & THE CATACOMBS
Based on a Wednesday schedule, we will return to St Peter’s Square this morning for a memorable Papal Audience with Pope Francis as we join with pilgrims from around the world. (Subject to the Pope’s presence in Rome.)
Journey this afternoon out to the majestic Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls . Originally consecrated in 324, the saint’s tomb is visible now under the Papal Altar. We will celebrate a wonderful Mass here as a special tribute to the Church’s greatest evangelist.
Continue then along the ancient Appian Way , the oldest road from Roman times to the ancient Catacombs for a memorable guided tour to marvel at these underground burial tunnels for Christians and Hebrews. On the way, drive by Domine Quo Vadis – the chapel that stands at the site where, according to tradition, St Peter met Christ when he fled from Rome to escape martyrdom.
DAY 11 MAJOR BASILICAS & FREE AFTERNOON
Today we visit the impressive St Mary Major Basilica , the largest Catholic Marian Church in Rome, dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, which also contains a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus. Onwards to the Basilica of St John in Lateran (First Papal residence) and the adjacent Holy Stairs brought from Jerusalem to Rome in 326AD by St Helena (as a favourite of pilgrims, these steps may only be ascended on the knees). Visit the Basilica of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme (Holy Cross) with its extraordinary collection of relics from the Holy Land.
Our afternoon is free to discover more sights of Rome – perhaps throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain before strolling to the Piazza Navona to soak up the vibrant atmosphere. Indulge in a gelato or enjoy a coffee while absorbing and admiring the history of this ancient city. Strolling through the streets is like walking through the pages of a history book.
This evening we will celebrate our final night in Rome at L’Eau Vive Restaurant . This fabulous French Restaurant is run by Carmelite Missionary Nuns who will actually sing the Ave Maria to us between courses!
Rome overnight (BD )
DAY 12 DEPART ROME
This morning, we farewell the Eternal City as our pilgrimage ends after breakfast. (B)
