After numerous requests from Voyager owners – and Vaquero owners who have added the Voyager tour pack – we chose to step up to the challenge with a major capital investment into the tooling to bring these pods to market. We are working on an installation video to show you just how easy it is to install these pods on your bike!

For those with the removable tour pack; there is enough wire in the speaker leads for you to install quick-disconnect plugs of your choice to aid in speeding up your swap.

This kit fits the 2009-2024 Voyager (mounts to tour pack) and includes:

• Felt or rubber backing (may or may not be installed prior to shipping)
• Backing plates x2
• Speed nuts x8
• Terminals to connect under the seat
• Add’l crimp connectors included for mismatched speaker terminals
• Loctite: blue, one-time use
• Drill template now included (also available via link on website)

So easy to install and just a replacement if you already have the OEM pods (they use the same mounting holes). These are solid, bigger than the OEM 5.25 so bigger speakers = better sound! They really look awesome and make my Voyager sound like a concert! EA did it again!

I was fortunate enough to get one of the very first sets of these pods. I’m happy to report that they are very well made, flow well with the design of the bike, rugged and super easy to install. EA provides everything you need to get them mounted, wired up and ready for the 6.5″ speaker pf your choice. While all that is great, the REALLY important part is the sound. These babies did not disappoint! They are full and rich and really fill the air around you. Even at highway speeds. Another home run for EA.

At long last! Do not let your passenger go without having music in the rear of your Voyager! The installation took around 45 minutes and the directions were super easy to follow. Once you balance your new rear speakers so there’s no fade to the front ones, they come in really nice and of course makes the music that much louder and better. Just simple, I’m not goin to say much but it’s AWESOME, Randy god bless you!!! I did some modifications like support to the area of screws goes like I did reinforce the walls were the screws goes, it’s plastic and the weight of the base with speakers I know it is going to break so I did use eternabond sealant & I made 1 base in aluminum by the way I’m using DS18 Hydro NXL-6 Speakers I’m so happy with my new style, again thank you guys for all your time to make us happy

Perfect fit! Be patient cutting out the stencil but it fit great! One hole was tight but worked with it for a few and was great! Very simple process and I used Polk Audio DB652 and fit right in! No drilling for speaker holes! Still a little smoothing of excess trim around holes to put clips in but worked great! I received only 2 mounting plates so I called Engineer Adapters and Randy told me there are only 2 plates and that they are still using Kawasaki instructions! Randy was very polite and helpful! I will be purchasing more from them because of the ease of installation and great fit! Thanks again!

I like the pods but definitely not as great as I expected. As a retired machinist there were issues that jumped out at me. First off were the templates that were provided. I’m meticulous with things and spent a lot of time fitting and measuring before drilling holes. The paper templates are lousy, at best, and I found myself using a Dremel tool to enlarge the drilled holes because they were nowhere close. If I only had the problem on one side I’d chalk it up to me missing a step but both sides were out exactly the same. I made it work but shouldn’t have had to. Second were the backing plates. They work but those holes are so out of whack I couldn’t help but wonder about the quality control going on. Last was the finish. These are obviously 3D printed which is cool. But how much time and effort would it have taken to deburr them before shipping? Another step that shouldn’t have been necessary on my part. So with all that. I got them on and they look and work good. Would I buy them again? Not for the price with the quality issues I encountered. These are very expensive for what they are. For the price they should be perfect and they just aren’t.

Thank you for the feedback, it helps us improve our products. These are definitely not 3d-printed, they are molded. We do deburr the speaker cutout and we will advise our finishing department on your feedback so we can make improvements. We placed the mounting bolts in the same location as the original Kawasaki pods, should anyone want to upgrade their original pods to our larger pods. The templates used are the actual Kawasaki templates. This means the template never matched the OEM hole locations. We intend to create our own templates in the future and we will re-align them to match the hole locations.

Motorcycle Audio Systems Don't Have To Be A Challenge

Motorcycle audio systems are a challenge unlike any other. Not only do the systems have to sound good, they have to sound good at very high volume in an open-air environment with very little space to install speakers and amplifiers and they have to be built tough enough to handle vibrations, excessive heat, rain, dust, and more.

If your motorcycle doesn’t have a fairing, it’s almost impossible to install a decent sounding audio system without compromising the cosmetic look of your bike with custom modifications or ugly bolt-ons. Most owners of non-fairing motorcycles probably give up on the idea that their bike will ever include music unless it’s coming from a car beside them at a stoplight.

When researching options for motorcycle audio systems, there are 2 things you must consider:

#1 – What are you going to use as an audio source?

If you want to listen to the radio while cruising down Rt. 66, you are probably either going to use an in-dash type unit that could have CD/MP3/AM/FM/AUX type capability or maybe you have more data than you know what to do with on your cell phone plan and you plan to stream music from your smartphone through apps like Pandora or iTunes Radio.  You could also do this with a traditional in-dash type radio with a 3.5mm Aux input.

If you want to use your phone for audio, most people don’t want a cord attached to their bike on one end and their phone in their pocket on the other. The cord flaps in the wind and just gets in the way in general. For these people, a Bluetooth connection is best. The phone can stay in your pocket and stream music wirelessly to the source unit. If you’re worried about having a data signal for apps like Pandora, you can also play music files stored on your phone via Bluetooth. This way, you aren’t using data on your plan and you don’t even need a signal when you’re traveling through the Black Hills of South Dakota.

#2 – What speaker sizes and locations do you have to work with and what space is available for an amplifier?

If your bike has a fairing, chances are you already have some speakers and a source unit in it. Depending on how old your bike is, the source unit may or may not be Bluetooth capable. Sometimes a simple Bluetooth add-on and a speaker upgrade can drastically improve your ride.  A product like our MUDBTRC can add Bluetooth to your existing in-dash radio.  It can be installed on your bike by cutting a hole and flush mounting it for a factory look or can be surface mounted if you don’t want to cut any holes. It also comes with a handlebar mounting bracket if you don’t want anything touching your paint.

Replacing your factory speakers is the easiest way to upgrade your motorcycle’s audio system. Figure out what size you have (typically 4”, 5 ¼”, or 6 ½”) and look for speakers that are built to handle rain, moisture, UV rays, and the elements they will be exposed to during your rides.

Full range coaxial speakers are typically your best option since they don’t have an additional crossover network to find room for and they offer as much frequency range as you can get in a single speaker. THUNDER52 coaxial speakers are great for motorcycle applications. The 5 ¼” speaker option (also available in other sizes) plays lower than most coaxial speakers and the pivoting tweeter design offers the ability to adjust the soundstage to direct the sound toward your ear. This reduces the amount of sound that gets lost in the open air. The polypropylene cone material is durable enough to withstand the elements and the shallow 2.25” mounting depth is ideal for fairings, which don’t have a ton of space for deeper speakers.

Once you have your source unit figured out and know what size speakers you are going to be replacing and/or adding, all that’s left is to figure out how much power you need for your speakers and where you can install the amplifier.

Typically, amplifiers for motorcycle audio systems with fairings are installed inside the fairing itself. But if you’ve ever taken apart your fairing, you know with headlight wiring, factory radio, headlight ballasts, and everything else that can be in there, an amplifier doesn’t have much room left to live in.

MTX Audio offers 3 different options of micro chassis (very small) MUD series amplifiers.

These amplifiers were designed with extra care and steps were taken in design and manufacturing to ensure durability when riding in rain, bashing through mud, or bouncing over boulders. Features such as conformal coated printed circuit boards that resist moisture and covers over the tuning adjustments ensure these bad boys can handle just about anything you throw at it. Even the integrated wiring harness is sealed from moisture and debris.

The amplifiers are full range, Class D for efficiency, available in 2 and 4 channel models, and capable of 50 watts RMS up to 400 watts RMS depending on the model. The smallest chassis size is 3.64” H x 2.85” W x 1.73” D.

If your bike doesn’t have a fairing, your options are MUCH more limited. The easiest part is the source unit. The MUDBTRC can clamp to your handlebars and that piece of the puzzle is ready to go. But where are you going to mount the speakers?

There are a lot of bolt-on options out there but all of them sacrifice cosmetics, sound quality, or both. You can bolt speaker pods to your handlebars but you still need a source and amplification. Besides… on what planet does it look badass to have bulky pods that stick out like a sore thumb mounted to your bars?

You can mount speaker pods to your highway bar but most people don't have ears on their knees. If you have rear saddlebags, you could buy a custom lid with a speaker mounting location but you still wouldn’t have a front sound stage. We’ve even seen crazy homemade inventions with PVC pipe bungee strapped to the sissy bar.

The point is, you want something that has sound output as close to your face as possible. This generally means the handlebars or the fairing are the best options. But how can you mount speakers and a source unit to your handle bars and even if you do, where are you going to find space to install the amplifier to power them?

Voyager 1700 rear speaker question

I am installing an amp on my Voyager and later was wanting to get the factory rear speaker kit. Does anyone know what watt they can handle without damage? Thanks  

I have them on my bike, but don't know which watt they have, but I you install an amp, I assume, you also replace the front speakers to aftermarket ones ? So, if install the rear speaker kit, just replace the speakers itself with aftermarket ones, that could handle the watts. Cu, Sven  

I put Polk 5.25 speakers in the rear of mine. Running a Rockford Fosgate PBR300X4 300 watt amp. 6.75 Kickers up front. Sounds great. The stock speakers aren't going to handle much more than the stock system power. They will start distorting quickly.  

I have a Soundstream amp and just added the rear speakers lst week. They are handling the power just fine, but I'm worried that they are not 4 ohm speakers and that they may damage my amp. I'll probably change them to Rockford Fosgate Punch 5.25"  

Update: Last night I moved my Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers from the fairing to the rear pods and put some Polk Audio speakers in the fairing. I didn't get to ride it to test, but sitting in the garage it sounds really good for 5.25" speakers. I had to use the Rockford Fosgate speaker grilles on the rear. The chrome ones were too shallow and left a gap between the grill and the housing. The black ones look good, though.
