Nama asli Jay adalah Jay Park. Ia lahir di Seattle, 20 April 2002 dari orangtua asal Korea Selatan.

Di usia 9 tahun, Jay dan keluarganya pindah ke Korea.

Perjalanan karier

Masa trainee dilalui Jay selama dua tahun 11 bulan.

Ia merupakan peserta ajang survival I-LAND (2020) dan menempati peringkat 2 di babak akhir sehingga terpilih untuk debut di ENHYPEN.

Grup yang terdiri dari tujuh member ini debut tanggal 30 November 2020.

Saat kecil, Jay bercita-cita menjadi koki. Tetapi, ia punya ketertarikan tinggi pada fashion.

Diketahui, ayah Jay adalah CEO agen tur dan travel Sinar Tour.

Jay lahir di Seattle, Washington, Amerika Serikat pada tanggal 20 April 2002. Dia dibesarkan di Korea Selatan sejak usia 9 tahun. Ayahnya adalah CEO SEO Sinar Tours. Jay fasih berbahasa Korea dan Inggris, serta sedikit bahasa Jepang.

Sebelum menjadi trainee, Jay pernah menjadi murid di LP Dance Academy. Dia kemudian bergabung dengan Big Hit Entertainment (sekarang HYBE Corporation) pada tahun 2017. Jay menjalani masa trainee selama 2 tahun 11 bulan.

Pada tahun 2020, Jay berpartisipasi dalam program survival Mnet "I-LAND". Dia menunjukkan bakat dan kemampuannya dalam rap, dance, dan vokal yang memikat penonton. 

Alhasil Jay berhasil meraih peringkat kedua di "I-LAND" dan debut bersama ENHYPEN pada tanggal 18 November 2020. Sejak debutnya, Jay telah menjadi member yang penting di ENHYPEN sebagai rapper dan dancer utama.

Aktivitas Solo Jay ENHYPEN

Miri welcomes 18 Korean travel agents on familiarisation tour

Lee hands over a souvenir to a representative of the Korean travel agencies after the welcoming dinner.

MIRI: Eighteen Korean travel agents arrived here on Friday evening to a warm welcome and dinner hosted by Jinhold Hotel and Serviced Apartment and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB).

The travel agents were on a familiarisation tour of the resort city in conjunction with Royal Brunei Airlines charter flight from Incheon, Korea to Brunei which made a stop-over in Miri.

Welcoming the travel agents at the dinner, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin was delighted to have the travel agents visit some of Miri’s best tourist destinations.

“I must thank Tourism Malaysia, Seoul Office and SiNar Tours of STC group for choosing Miri as one of the destinations to be visited by the travel agents.

“So far, Miri has yet to receive charter flights from Korea. We are looking forward to receive more Korean tourists as we are now working with their travel agents. We believe Sarawak and Miri in particular have much to offer to our visitors,” he said.

He said Miri offers some of the best tourist destinations in Sarawak such as Lambir Hills National Park as well as Niah National Park.

“The Mulu National Park, boasts its UNESCO World Heritage Site Listing which Lonely Planet described as one of the most majestic and thrilling nature destinations anywhere in Southeast Asia, it is something not to be missed,” he said.

“Entertainment, shopping, food and festivals, that drive Miri city to what it has become now, the friendly and hospitable local people, the tourism industry has flourished and we, Mirians are proud to be able to position it as a friendly resort city.”

Among those present at the dinner were James Park Hyun Kyu, president of Sinar Tour with representatives from Korea’s and Miri’s travel agencies and Jeff Chong, managing director of Jinhold Group, Heidi Tay who represents Sarawak Tourism Board and Councillor Ernest Goh, chairman of Miri City Council’s Tourism Development Standing committee.

17 underprivileged kids from Brunei fly for first time on sponsored Korea trip

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN) - 17 local kids from underprivileged families in the Brunei-Muara District left the country to visit South Korea.

Their first time on an aircraft, the children are on a sponsored field trip to Korea, a courtesy extended by Sinar Tour Sdn Bhd who organised the trip with the support of the Korean Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, Royal Brunei Airlines (RB), Sinar Holdings, Dongwon Food and Beverages (Korea), At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sdn Bhd and Aewon Company.

The 11 to 16-year-olds are currently undergoing a special programme tailored to enhance their skills and talents to help them become successful in the future.

In an interview, participants Nur Amalia Mahirah binti Mohd Ridwan, Nur Azira binti Hazman and Noja Ain Maizurah binti Jaini expressed their excitement to be on a plane for the first time.

“This is my first time on a plane and I feel a bit nervous yet excited,” said Nur Amalia, a secondary school student.

Nur Azira added, “I can’t wait to go to Korea. We always see Korea in dramas. Now, I can really experience Korea for myself.

 “While in Korea, we can learn about the people’s culture and the new things there.” Noja Ain Maizurah also said that she is excited to learn the techniques of making kimchi during their trip to Dongwon Food and Beverages company.

The children will be visiting various places of interest in Korea, including the Namsan Traditional Village.

They will also watch a taekwondo show, see the Seoul Tower, and visit the Independence Hall of Korea and MBC World Broadcasting Theme Park.

Furthermore, the kids will be exposed to using public transport facilities in Seoul, the biggest city in Korea.

It is expected that the the field trip participants will become more motivated, open-minded and well-versed in current affairs.

They will also be able to understand the importance of hard work to become successful in life.

James Park, the President of Sinar Tour Sdn Bhd, commented, “This is a very good project for the children.

“I hope that we can continue this initiative to help realise children’s dream of flying to Korea.

“This trip can expose them to the outside culture and encourage them to work hard for the future.”

Sending off the kids at the Brunei International Airport were Cho Won-myung, the Korean Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, family members, friends and sponsors.

Call for art council establishment to support industry’s development

SynARTgy hosts inaugural forum exploring value creation in Brunei's art industry

The economics of art – and documenting, measuring, and growing Brunei’s art industry – was deliberated at SynARTgy’s first forum on May 20.

The half-day forum held at the Radisson Hotel featured four speakers who drew from theoretical frameworks, case studies, and personal experiences to elucidate the forum’s subject of value creation through the art industry – and it’s application to the relatively nascent Brunei art market.

CEO and founder SynARTgy Dr Irene Yap, who is also the Head of Economics, Research, and Statistics at the Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, put forward the idea of establishing a professional body in the Sultanate representing the industry – similar to art councils seen overseas – that would help develop, consolidate, and validate producers in this space.

“It can act as an enabler, facilitator, and a development agency to become a voice for the creative community; and to stimulate and promote the arts, increasing access to the arts through services, programs, and/or funding,” she said.

“The objectives of this entity would be the mapping of the art sector and identifying key players; developing supportive public policies to provide a conducive ecosystem; facilitating the growth of the art industry organically based on strengthening the supply and demand aspects, and continuously raise more awareness and develop professionalism to prepare the expansion of the market externally, beyond Brunei.”

Aside from artists, the proposed body would include galleries, curators, academics and other players involved in buying and selling art, providing credibility that could encourage greater trading of artwork.

Dr Yap said that the growth of the industry would carry beneficial wider socio-economic impacts; contributing towards design and innovation while also fostering and strengthening cultural identity.

She added that there’s been greater recognition internationally to quantify the growth and contribution of the creative industries; including reports by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the United Nations Conference On Trade and Development .

Meanwhile Senior Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Universiti Brunei Darussalam Dr Rui Oliveira Lopes charted the commodification of art, and how Bruneian artists can leverage their unique cultural identity – including the national philosophy of Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) – to produce work that would differ from artists residing in neighbouring countries.

To draw lessons from the nearby market, renowned independent art curator from Singapore John Tung was also invited to share how the city-state’s art and culture policy continuously balances the dual goals of economic and social development. He highlighted that cultural infrastructural development was necessary to maintain investors, foreign talents, and develop local tourism.

Pioneering local artist and the founder of one the few independent galleries in the country Osman Mohd also shared his experiences setting up and sustaining Creative Space Studio and Art Gallery , while also giving his outlook on where Brunei’s art industry is headed.

Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) sponsored the forum which was attended by over 80 people including, artists, government officials, students and other creative and art enthusiasts. BSP also sponsored the participation of students and staff from SMARTER, Pusat Ehsan, La Vida Brunei and Pusat Bahagia Pulaie.
