15 Awesome Travel YouTube Channel Ideas for 2024

Launching a travel YouTube channel can be quite the task; especially, when you’re not sure what to upload. That’s why I’ve compiled this list of travel YouTube channel ideas to help you fill up your content calendar.

Even if you’ve already started uploading videos to your channel, you may find these video ideas helpful. Also, this list might help jog your creativity to come up with even more video concepts!

Travel YouTube Channel Ideas

travel youtube channel ideas

1. Airport Vlog

What’s the difference between an airport vlog and a travel vlog? An airport vlog is more focused on getting to a destination than the destination itself.

For example, if you’re taking a 15 hour flight or have a 24 hour travel day you can vlog about your experience and how you survive such a long travel day. You can also talk about flying with a specific airline, what the food on the plane was like, and how the different airports were.

This is also a good time to throw in a little airport ootd or what’s in my carry on.

2. Pack With Me

Pack with mes are another popular video idea for travel youtube channels. Whether you’re packing for a cruise, Disneyland, or a tropical getaway, a pack with me video is a great way to share packing tips with your audience.

You can share things like what toiletries you’re bringing, how you keep things organized, what outfits you’re bringing, etc. You can also include affiliate links in your video description to help generate some income. I use RewardStyle for style and Amazon products.

Sample Ideas:

  • Pack with me for Paris – Winter Edition
  • Packing for a 10 Day Caribbean Cruise
  • What to Pack for for a Aspen Ski Vacation

3. Bucket List

Share with your audience what destinations you’re dying to visit.

Don’t simply list them off, tell them WHY you want to visit these destinations. Is there great food? Is there a specific resort you really want to stay at or a really cool attraction? Educate while you share.

People are always looking for suggestions on where to travel and by sharing your bucket list you may just be influencing their next vacation!

4. General Travel Tips

General travel tip videos are another great travel YouTube channel idea. Again, this is an opportunity to educate your audience. While we like to think everyone’s traveled before, there’s tons of people who may be taking their first trip ever at any given time.

In these videos, you can share ways to save money, packing hacks, tips for a better plane ride, etc.

  • Tips for Solo Female Travelers
  • How to Make Traveling with Kids Easier

5. Destination Specific Travel Tips

Piggybacking off of general travel tips, is destination specific travel tips.

While general travel tips will serve many travelers, destination specific tips are for those visiting a particular place. You could also think of this as a “Know Before You Go” type video. For example, a Positano travel video might include things like the best time to go to avoid crowds, what airport to fly into and the transfer options, how to get around the area, and other info visitors might find helpful.

  • 10 things to know before visiting Greece
  • 5 Tourist Traps to Avoid in Paris
  • Tokyo Travel Tips to have the best trip ever

6. Travel Vlog

If you’re starting a travel youtube channel, chances are you’ve already planned on doing travel vlogs. Depending on the trip, I will either break my travel vlogs down by destination or by day. For example, for my 10 day trip to Spain and Portugal , I did a vlog for each city we visited. However, for Disneyland I did two vlogs, one per day we were there.

Very few people will sit around and watch a 40 minute travel vlog. So, I like to break down the content into more digestible segments.

7. Travel Essentials

Sharing Amazon Travel Must-Haves or general travel essentials is another popular video idea for travel YouTube channels.

People are always looking for ways to be more efficient when traveling and for products that help them with this. These videos are also a good way to generate some affiliate income. I like to use LiKETOKNOW.IT to link all my products. It works with Amazon and a bunch of other brands.

Sample Video Ideas:

  • Camping Travel Essentials
  • Road Trip must-haves
  • The Best Amazon Travel Finds

8. What’s in your Travel Makeup Bag/Toiletry Bag

If you’re like me and like to share a mix of beauty and travel content, a “what’s in your travel makeup bag” or “what’s in your toiletry bag” video is a good way to blend the two.

Talk about the different skincare and beauty products you bring with you when you travel and why.

Looking for more beauty channel ideas? Read my Beauty video ideas post !

9. Destination Budget Breakdowns

Follow up your travel vlog with a destination budget breakdown.

For this video you can do a mix of talking head clips with some destination footage. Walk your audience through how much each attraction cost, what you spent on meals and transportation, and any other expenses for your trip.

You can also throw in a few tips on how to save money.

10. Travel Makeup Routine

Another beauty/travel crossover video idea is a travel makeup routine.

If you’re already sharing different makeup looks on your YouTube channel, this is an easy video idea to implement.

  • Glowy Summer Vacation Look
  • Simple 5-Step travel makeup routine
  • My Go-To Beach Makeup Look

11. Luggage Unboxing

My most popular video on YouTube is my Monos Luggage Unboxing .

People are always on the hunt for the best suitcases and carry on bags. So, if you’ve recently purchased a new travel bag or have an old reliable piece, film an unboxing or luggage review sharing the ins and outs.

12. Travel Camera Equipment

If you have a variety of cameras and accessories that you bring with you when you travel, show what’s inside your travel camera kit .

And this doesn’t just have to be cameras and lenses. Share what memory card you use, which bags and pouches you use to keep everything organized, and any other tools you use.

13. Travel Resources

For a travel resources video, share which sites and apps you use to plan, book, and execute your travels.

Think Rome2Rio, Booking, Going (formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights), Viator, etc.

Some people have never traveled before or have only traveled locally, which is why sharing resources is one of the more helpful travel YouTube channel ideas.

14. Lookbook

Lookbooks are an oldie but a goodie YouTube video concept. The idea is to show off all the different elements of your outfits for a particular season or event.

For example, you could do a Hawaii Lookbook or a cruise lookbook featuring all your outfits that you wore during your vacation.

This is another good opportunity to share affiliate links and generate some extra income.

15. Plan A Trip with Me/ How to Plan a Trip

For this video, walk your audience through your travel planning process . From picking the destination and booking flights to building an itinerary, show off how you plan your vacations.

  • Planning my Southwest Road Trip
  • Travel Plan with Me
  • How I’ve Planned my 2 Month Trip to South America

I hope you find these travel YouTube channel ideas helpful! I know when I was first getting started I had trouble coming up with ideas, so hopefully this list helps.

30 Travelers Tell You How To Build A Travel YouTube Channel In 2021

Everybody wants to do videos these days.

There are more and more people and business competing for views, likes, shares and subscribers on YouTube and pretty much any other social media platforms.

I know that first hand from the people I’m doing the video editing for.

Getting traction on YouTube is much harder than it was just 12 months ago. Not sure if that’s because of all the competition or it’s just how the algorithm works.

Some say you need to post 100 videos before you start to see results.

Some say it’s 80% luck and 20% work.

Some say it’s consistency .

Originality.

You get the idea.

Now, I don’t think that the traveling niche is that different than other verticals, but since I’m working mostly with clients in this category, I decided to target the question specifically to this niche.

So I asked content creators what do they think it’s working right now on YouTube. What would their #1 tip for growing a travel YouTube channel be?

Before we move forward, please note that we reached out to content creators of all sizes. So in this post you’ll find people that have hundreds of thousands of subscribers as well as channels that are just starting out.

I think the input we got back was great and hopefully helpful.

And in case you’re just starting out on we created a list of the best YouTube video editing software you can try.

Big thanks to everybody who participated!

Here’s what we got back.

Kristin Addis

I think it’s posing a question that the viewer will want the answer to. It can be purely informational or an opinion, but take a stance or show your real opinion. What makes a video different is YOU.

My number one tip would be…

Ah, I have too many to limit to one! Ultimately, be authentic and helpful. In practical terms, don’t neglect the text beneath your video!

Gabriel Morris

There’s no simple answer for how to grow on Youtube, which is actually a good thing because that makes it more interesting, challenging and open to your own creativity.

Success on Youtube depends on a lot of different factors: how much work you put it into it, your personality, your editing skills, your story-telling skills and oftentimes just plain luck.

But if it’s a travel channel, then the most important thing is pretty simple: post lots of travel videos.

You can’t grow a travel channel by talking about traveling from the comfort of your home.

You’ll get a few views that way, but you aren’t going to get nearly as many views as you will if you’re posting videos from the places you’re actually talking about.

Be consistent. The more videos the better.

Quality is important of course. But if you’re too much of a perfectionist to the point that you’re only posting a few videos per month, that probably isn’t going to be great for your channel.

Travel videos don’t often go viral and get tons of views, so it’s better to expect that you’re going to need to post more videos rather than counting on one really good video getting a lot of views.

Try different angles. Post about food, show how much things cost, post about the people, give city tours, post adventure videos, show the cheapest options for food and accommodation and the more expensive options and just see what works better for you and what doesn’t seem to go anywhere.

Put yourself in the video. Travel content is generally more interesting with a narrator who has a story to share, so weave your own story into the videos while you’re also talking about the place.

Be creative in your editing. Find good music that’s a little different from the norm. Find music from the region that helps set the mood of being in that place. And as they say, just keep uploading.

Good luck and happy travels.

Listen to and do your research on what people need.

YouTube is the biggest video search engine in the world. If people are searching for it, they will organically find you in some way.

Jessica Festa

Whether you’re creating a blog post, video, Instagram share or another piece of content, there is value in creating what others are not.

Take inspiration from others and study their techniques, and then incorporate them into your own ideas.

This may mean taking some time to storyboard an idea.

For instance, if you want to create a video on traveling Italy, think about how you can talk about it in a new way while also having your unique personality shine through.

This is how you’ll stand out from the crowd.

Dev Footloosedev

I think the most important thing for making your YouTube channel stand in the crowd in 2019 is the uniqueness of the content, even if with the slightest degree.

I mean Youtube has grown exponentially in the previous few years, with more and more YouTubers entering the scene.

If there were 100 YouTubers talking about culture and travel in 2018, in 2019, there are at least 1,000.

So what makes you stand apart from the crowd is what’s going to matter.

Why should people watch you over the others?

Eg, when I decided to start Youtube and motorbiking and travel became my focus theme, I decided to differentiate it by adding cultural travel in it, because there were already hundreds of moto-travelers out there (especially if I talk about my home market India) but none of them were into local experiences and culture.

So that’s how I decided to differentiate myself.

Footloosedev is also a full-time blogger since 2016.

Mike Huxley

Build your own brand on your own platform first, or at least simultaneously.

And use YouTube (and any other social media) as a tool to bring an audience to your platform.

Don’t just rely on other platforms alone because you are never in control and it is always risky.

Your own brand and own website will grow a loyal and engaged audience that is there to see you and hear your message across any media, including YouTube.

And your YouTube channel will grow by default because of your in built audience.

Elaine Masters

Post great content regularly.

If I post weekly I grow faster but as I love to edit for better storytelling, that’s not always possible.

I don’t beat myself up about it.

I’d rather post something that can be a proud evergreen than poorly done for quick delivery.

I’m far from the world’s leading expert on how to grow a YouTube audience, but I will say that the most exponential growth I experienced has been whenever I have collaborated with other (ideally more popular!) YouTube vloggers and been featured on their channel.

Collaborations can not only be a great way to bring a new element and style to your channel and videos, but it can also be a wonderful way to introduce viewers to other amazing YouTube channels out there.

It’s a symbiotic relationship between vloggers.

Tamara Elliot

My tip for growing a YouTube channel is to use proper SEO and tagging when publishing videos, so that viewers can find them in Google searches.

It also helps to share videos on all of your social media channels when a new one is posted.

Kristen and Siya

Being specific with the topic of your channel.

When someone asks what your channels about, you should be able to describe it in one sentence.

Of course, make sure your passionate about the content you’re creating and you have enough video ideas surrounding your topic.

Also, consistency is key!

Uploading at least one video a week, on the same day and at the same time if possible, is highly encouraged if you want to build a loyal audience.

Joanna Kalafatis

My #1 tip for growing a YouTube channel in 2019 would be to really make your personality shine through – by now, people have seen amazing landscapes and drone shots of incredible places 1,000 times before.

They will tune into your channel to see YOUR take on a destination, not just pretty shots.

Make sure you highlight what you love about a place, and what you want your ideal audience to love as well.

Sabrina Iovino

Be yourself.

Don’t copy others.

It’s easier to stand out of the crowd if you so something unique, that no one has done before.

And make sure you’ll do it with all your heart, it’s hard to succeed if this isn’t your passion.

Heather Cowper

If you are new to making travel videos, it’s worth remembering that Youtube is a video search engine.

With that in mind, you are likely to get more views if you research the topics and keywords that people are searching for both within Youtube and more generally and then tailor your videos to meet those search queries.

Barbara Weibel

One of the best ways to generate traffic on a YouTube channel is with “Suggested Videos.”

YouTube automatically chooses other videos to “suggest” at the end of your video, and most times they are from a channel other than yours.

While creators have no choice about which videos are suggested when a video is viewed on the YouTube site, the situation is much different when videos are embedded into another site.

For instance, I create a video, upload it to YouTube, and create all my playlists and end screens, etc.

I then write a post on my blog about the video and embed it into that post, using the iframe code provided by YouTube.

However, I make one little change to the code.

At the end of the YouTube URL I add ?rel=0 before the closing quote mark.

This forces YouTube to show ONLY videos from my channel when viewers watch the embedded video on my blog.

An example iframe code would look like this, with the added code below:

My #1 tip for growing a travel YouTube channel is to keep experimenting to find out what sticks.

In a hyper-competitive environment, there are channels popping up left, right, and center and the way I’ve been able to continuously grow is just to keep trying different formats of videos, themes, content topics, and styles of video to see what resonates with my audience but also performs well in the YouTube ecosystem.

Once you find out what works, keep doubling down on that type of content and watch your channel blossom.

Besides his Youtube channel, you can also follow Will on his blog .

Katy Clarke

Our main tip is to stay focused and be consistent when it comes to planning and creating content.

Always have your end audience in mind and create useful material that helps your viewers solve their travel challenges or inspires them to visit someplace new.

But you should also never forget your unique voice and perspective on the topic you address whether that be exploring the streets of Rome or keeping your belongings safe on the road.

Shannon O’Donnell

To establish a presence on YouTube these days, you absolutely need to have something to say!

YouTube is—above all else—still a search engine.

The #2 search engine behind Google, actually.

And just like Google, people use YouTube to answer questions and get advice.

And sure to also be entertained, put the low-hanging fruit of getting established is to be helpful, and be interesting while doing it!

Alexandra Kovacova

I think that the best way to grow any social media following is to show unique places in a special way.

You need to be authentic and also don’t be scared to show your personality and more of your thoughts and feelings.

Then people will be able to relate more to you and feel like you’ve been friends 😊.

At least I prefer to follow people who I can learn something about.

David Hoffman

My #1 tip for growing a travel YouTube channel in 2019 is to create and release great content daily.

The more you release, the more you will grow, period.

I remember when I first started, I saw Casey Neistat say “Keep releasing.”

If you look at anyone who is growing in this niche, the one thing they have in common is they release almost every day, and their content is always tied to the subject that they have built an audience around.

Also, do more of what you want and less sponsored content.

One thing I have noticed from YouTubers at around 250,000 subscribers is that they do a lot of sponsored content.

That can turn off viewers and even push your audience away.

I personally do very few sponsored videos, maybe 1-4 videos a month at the most.

The rest of my videos showcase what I love doing, which is eating and exploring!

Stephen and Jess

If you are wanting to grow on YouTube in 2019 you need to ensure you are keeping up with a strict upload schedule.

1 video every month or every few months when you finish a trip just doesn’t cut it on YouTube anymore.

Meet a minimum upload of at least 1 video a week, tell your audience when it will be and make sure you stick it to it.

We did over 500 videos before we hit our first 10,000 subscribers to put into perspective the consistent patience you need to succeed on this platform.

Macca Sherifi

What is in your opinion the #1 tip for growing a travel Youtube channel in 2019?

One of the things I’ve always struggled with is posting consistently.

Obviously, the nature of being a travel blogger is you’re on the road a lot.

That means making time for filming and especially editing can be difficult.

That’s why I’ve always focused on quality content, and it seems to have worked for me.

Instead of pumping out semi-decent content, I’ve only ever posted premium content.

Even though this means I’m posting less than other YouTubers, I’m always really happy with what I put out.

I think you’ve got to find a style that works for you and stick with it!

Offer a formula that is refreshing, down to earth and exceeds in showing off your own character if you are in the video.

Otherwise, keep the video short with no long introductions.

Jump straight in – people already know who you are or what the video is about and if not – and they like you/it – will look around some more and subscribe.

Gareth Leonard

My advice would be to “make something that sucks.”

Yes, that’s right – make something that sucks.

With an emphasis on MAKE SOMETHING.

Too many people are crippled with the idea that their videos aren’t going to be very good at the beginning… guess what, they’re not.

I guarantee Michelangelo created some pretty terrible stuff before he found David.

The quicker you can get over this idea of being perfect and just start creating, the better you will be and the faster you can improve.

Brittany and Drew

Our #1 tip is CONSISTENCY.

Commit to 1 video a week and STICK WITH IT.

Do what it takes, build a structure around it, edit until your happy with the finished product and do not let yourself back out.

You only get better by making more videos and your audience needs to see you on a consistent basis in order to connect.

Be true to yourself!

Let your personality shine through in your videos.

Make people want to watch your videos – so add in some humor, offer helpful tips relating to the topic of your video and promote the heck out of your videos across all of your other digital platforms.

Natasha Alden

My number one tip for growing a YouTube is to make sure your content looks good.

Long gone are the days when grainy phone videos make for click-worthy viral content.

It’s a very competitive world nowadays, and it’s essential to produce a high-quality video.

I’m not suggesting to buy top of the line cameras, but putting extra care into your shots and framing can go a long way.

Whenever I am shooting and editing a video, I will think, “Would I want to watch this”?

If the answer is no, then I need to rethink the story and shots and rework it to make it exciting and beautiful.

Nicola Easterby

My number one tip is to find your niche and stick to it- don’t just create content for the sake of it.

Create content that is going to connect with your audience and build your tribe.

My #1 Tip in building a travel YT channel is to consistently hack the YT algorithm by doing a once a day raw and authentic vlog.

The topics and metatags should be focused on a certain domain in travel so that you stand for it and build your YT audience and community around it.

It’s getting harder and harder each day to build a following but consistently, authenticity and smart meta-tagging is the key in 2019.

Francesca Murray

I think the #1 tip for growing a travel YouTube in 2019 is to focus less on the number of subscribers, and more on the quality of your gear and ability to tell stories.

Invest in the right camera, editing software, and courses if need be to produce high-quality videos that will attract someone’s attention, and then hook them in with great stories.

As long as you’re doing it with passion, you’ll enjoy the ride and be less stressed along the way!

Inspire your viewers by showcasing travel destinations

Examples of different travel content ideas featuring a variety of different landscapes.

People love watching travel content, whether they’re planning a trip away or looking for a bit of escapism. Inspire your viewer’s wanderlust by showing off your favorite destinations.

The more you prove yourself to be a travel expert, the more viewers will come back to your videos for inspiration. Soon your channel will be the perfect getaway for people dreaming of their next adventure.

1. Highlight stunning luxury destinations and dream getaways

Package up the best bits of your trip and share a taste of places people might want to visit. The Luxury Travel Expert is an expert in giving viewers FOMO by sharing stunning footage of high end destinations.

Your footage is the real star here. Show off crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches to make your audience dream of warmer climates. Or if your trip takes you somewhere less exotic, edit a highlights package of the bits you loved most to get your viewers excited, whatever the destination.

2. Present stunning terrains using drone footage

Drones take landscape shots to new heights, quite literally. They give you the opportunity to capture completely unique footage of stunning locations. With drone cameras becoming more affordable, it’s easier than ever to add cinematic aerial footage to your videos

Just take a look at how Sam Kolder brings the island paradise of Guam to life with lush, sweeping shots. This kind of attention-grabbing content can make all the difference when you’re looking to hook viewers on your content.

3. Showcase dynamic landscapes with striking time-lapse videos

Want to stand out from other travel creators? Time-lapse videos can showcase scenery in an eye-catching way, from the beauty of a beach sunset to the buzz of a city.

Geoff Tompkinson’s videos of Singapore skylines condense hours into minutes and command your attention throughout. Try this technique for yourself and show how a location changes over time. Not only can it produce stunning content but it can also significantly boost your average view duration, making it more likely for your content to go viral.

4. Share your top picks from favorite destinations

Who doesn’t love a countdown? It’s a simple format but it works. Group together your favorite locations, attractions and experiences into an easy-to-follow video for your audience. By leaving the best until last, viewers will often stay to the end to see what comes out on top.

Just check out Ryan Shirley’s list of the top 25 places to visit in the USA. You’ll see how easy it is as a viewer to find yourself watching to the end. As a bonus, ask viewers whether they agree with your picks and you’ll soon spark a debate in your comments.

5. Leave a review of your destinations

Before people do anything, they look for reviews. If something’s good, bad, or downright weird, people want to know about it. So review food, attractions, hotels or anything else you come across and let viewers know how you really feel. You’ll build your audience’s trust over time and establish yourself as a seasoned travel expert.

YouTuber Attaché’s review of Helsinki is a great example, with public transport tips and top food recommendations. These candid insights can bring a destination to life and build trust with your audience. Take things a step further by using a consistent way of scoring, like Dave Portnoy’s one bite pizza reviews that he rates out of 10. A repeatable format like this soon becomes familiar to viewers, giving them a reason to watch to the end.

Document your experiences and take your audience with you

Examples of different travel content ideas featuring a variety of activities and experiences.

The magic of traveling comes from the sheer variety of experiences and cultures you can discover. By sharing your travel adventures with viewers, you’re allowing them to live vicariously through your channel.

Taking people along for the ride is a great way of building up regular viewers too. As they get invested in your travels, they’ll become more likely to seek out your newest uploads.

6. Keep a travel diary by filming a vlog

Filming a travel vlog lets you share experiences with your viewers on the fly. Documenting the highs and lows of life on the road is a tried and tested format used by creator heavyweights like Casey Neistat and Peter McKinnon .

Travel YouTuber FunForLouis vlogged his trip across America in a DIY Tesla van, combining stunning b-roll with candid diary entries. By making viewers feel like they’re part of your adventure, you’re more likely to build a personal connection with them, meaning they’ll stick around for the ride!

7. Get to know the locals with revealing interviews

Want to give your audience a flavor of local life and culture? Speak to the real people who live there. These authentic insights provide a depth to your content that’ll help you stand out from other creators.

Drew Binsky often puts local people at heart of his videos, giving his content an authentic local voice. You don’t need to go to lengths Binsky does - speaking to a real life cannibal - but interviewing locals will always give viewers an interesting perspective on your travel destination.

8. Go in-depth with full travel documentaries

Why not flex your storytelling chops and find a unique angle about your destination? Documentaries give you the opportunity to explore a place’s culture, history or people in a more in-depth way.

Kara & Nate used their trip to the most remote town in Australia to share insights about the Aboriginal people who live there. By building your video’s narrative around an interesting hook, you’re giving people even more reason to stick around and watch to the end.

9. Plan adventures you can turn into a series

If you feel like you have too many great ideas for a single video, try planning out an entire series instead. Not only can you go into greater depth on different parts of your travel, you’ll also build anticipation for future episodes.

The Endless Adventure often create YouTube playlists based on a single adventure, like the time they renovated a vintage RV. As a viewer you become invested in their progress and find yourself coming back to watch each episode.

10. Discover new cultures and share them with your audience

Immersing yourself in a new culture is one of the most fascinating parts of traveling to new places. Tapping into the intrigue of seeing how people live in other parts of the world will always provide a rich source of material.

David Wen regularly explores the culture shocks in his adopted homeland of the Netherlands. This content is interesting for anyone looking to visit, while making funny viewing for locals too. It’s also the kind of relatable content that’s likely to fire up a lively comments section, earning your videos plenty of interaction.

11. Eat your way around the world

One of the most exciting things about traveling to new places is sampling the local cuisine. Wherever you end up, there’s going to be new and exotic dishes you can share with your viewers. Not only does food make for a mouth-watering subject for a video, eating your way around a destination can also shine a light on what different cultures are like.

Take the Best Ever Food Review Show’s episode on Korean street food as an example. They reveal the city’s bustling food market packed with diners grabbing a late meal. Food reviews are an easily repeatable format that shine a light on local customs, making it a great series idea to capture alongside your other content.

12. Embark on adrenaline-fuelled adventures

Travel content is exciting, but you can take things up a notch with daredevil antics and extreme activities. Action-packed videos make for gripping content, with viewers keen to see the lengths you’ll push yourself to.

Creators Danegar and Stacey took on the world’s deadliest road in Bolivia on mountain bikes. Watching along gives you the thrill of cycling above 2,000ft cliffs. This makes for an addictive video that has you hooked right the way through.

13. Take viewers with you to wild landscapes

Not everyone has easy access to remote wilderness. So if you’re the type of traveler who seeks out extreme landscapes, why not give your audience a taste of the wild?

The Outdoor Boys are a family who take viewers on regular trips to remote parts of Alaska and other parts of the world. Most people aren’t going to try and survive camping in a snowstorm. But through the Outdoor Boys’ videos, anyone can watch what happens on these kinds of adventures.

14. Tell little-known stories from far-flung places

Good old fashioned storytelling will always make for a great video. So share personal tales from your travels that resonate with your viewers on an emotional level.

Eamon & Bec’s story of building a dog shelter in Mexico in just 30 days really tugs at the heartstrings. They’ve created a memorable video which not only highlights a problem, but shows them interacting with the locals and building a real connection. You only have to look at the comments section to see how impactful these types of videos can be.

15. Set yourself challenges in unknown locations

Challenge videos are one of the most popular formats on YouTube. So why not spice up your travels with some fun goals? Make sure you set out your objective nice and early in your video to keep people watching to see if you’re successful.

Take Yes Theory as an example, trying to survive a day in Shanghai without money. Straight away, viewers want to see how they get on and whether they complete the challenge. And as the action unfolds, they get introduced to the city too.

Share your traveler know-how with practical tips and guides

Examples of different travel content ideas featuring creators sharing tips and guides to camera.

Experienced travelers will often know the best ways to tackle common problems with life on the road. If you’ve built up knowledge that could help your audience, why not share your go-to tips?

Practical travel guides make for super helpful, evergreen videos that mark you out as a travel guru worth following. You’ll find people coming back to your channel time and again to get your priceless traveling insights.

16. Make travel guides for popular destinations

When you’re excited to head away to a new destination, it’s only natural you’re going to check out things to do. Loads of people seek out video guides for cities and countries to get an idea of what’s in store for them. Wolters World does this well, providing guides on what not to do in different places.

By rounding up the must-see landmarks and unmissable local experiences, he taps into people who are searching for videos about that location. It’s practical advice people are always going to search for, meaning you could find your views climb long after you’ve uploaded the content. This is especially true if you hit the sweet spot of providing a guide for a popular destination which doesn’t have lots of content yet.

17. Compare the best and worst travel options

People love comparing hugely contrasting travel experiences. Even Mr Beast has got in on the act with his $1 vs $1 million hotel room video. It’s an entertaining format that gives viewers a glimpse into wildly different lifestyles.

For example, Gabriel Traveler used his trip to El Salvador to show how different his experience in a luxury hotel was to that of the people living nearby. Viewers click on these videos because they want to see how stark the contrast is, meaning they’re more likely to watch all the way through.

18. Reveal the secret hacks every jet-setter needs to know

Traveling between countries can be tricky, but there are tons of secret hacks that only the most experienced travelers know about. If you’ve managed to build up a bank of invaluable tips, share them with your viewers.

Saving people time and money will have them coming back to your channel for future words of wisdom. Take Nik from Away Together as an example, sharing secret flight hacks to help viewers get cheaper air travel. Viewers who watch and save money off the back of their tips will be way more likely to come back for more useful advice.

19. Share essential money-saving tips for travelers on a budget

Who doesn’t love saving money? Share your budget-friendly tips and you’ll always find an audience of thrifty travelers. You could run through your top tips for traveling on the cheap, or even put together a guide on how to get by in a particular place without breaking the bank.

Abroad in Japan has made several guides breaking down exactly how people visiting the country can save money on food, accommodation and travel. This helpful advice will always appeal to upcoming visitors, meaning these videos could continue to rack up views for many years.

Connect with your viewers by letting them into your world

Examples of different travel content ideas that feature looking behind the scenes of life on the road.

The best content creators build an engaged community around their channels. How? By making a personal connection between them and their audience.

Taking the time to show viewers your life on the road can pay off big time, particularly as they’re more likely to follow your channel if they relate to you as a person.

20. Host a Q&A with your travel-curious audience

The easiest way to interact with your audience is to directly answer their questions. You could decide to respond to questions in real-time, or address them in a simple vlog format. Either way, Q&As are a great way of letting your audience get to know you better, while learning more about them at the same time.

It’s easy to repeat a Q&A for every destination you land in, or you could simply host a one-off discussion around your traveling lifestyle. Eva zu Beck did exactly that, answering questions about her life as a solo traveler. By being open and honest with her viewers, Eva got a ton of engagement and built a special bond with her viewers at the same time.

21. Show viewers what’s in your suitcase

People are nosy! They want to see what you bring with you on your trip, particularly if you’re a seasoned traveler who’s got packing down to a tee. Showing viewers what’s in your suitcase not only provides an insight into what you take with you, it can also be a natural way to share essential advice on what to bring or leave behind.

Bea Minimalista shows viewers what she takes when she’s going away for a few weeks. And as the name suggests, it isn’t a lot. Lift the lid on your packing process and share your strategies for making the most of that all-important luggage space. You might even get some invaluable tips in return from the comments section.

22. Offer an exclusive peek behind the scenes of your adventures

Traveling the world isn’t all about National Geographic landscapes and Instagram-ready plates of food. Often it involves uncomfortably long journeys and hotels that aren’t quite what you were expecting. Sharing an honest and transparent account about the difficulties of traveling can make a refreshing change for your audience.

Take Lost LeBlanc’s brutally honest assessment of Cinque Terre, showing that behind a postcard perfect destination there are actually lots and lots of crowds. By touching on some of the downsides of popular destinations, they’ve shown viewers that they can be trusted to share both the good and bad sides of travel. And as an added bonus, they lit a fire in the comments from people who disagree with the video!

Use these travel content ideas to inspire your next adventure

A selection of travel items including a phone and a tablet showing different travel content ideas creators could try.

Wherever you’re headed, you should now be kitted out with tons of great travel video ideas for turning your wanderlust into unmissable content. You might look to inspire your fellow travelers, showcase the stunning destinations you’ve been to, or simply share your essential tips for life on the road.

What’s great is that you can try out several different formats on the same trip, meaning one destination could easily result in a handful of videos. See how you can bring your next trip to life, and don’t forget to make your travel footage pop with a stand-out soundtrack to match. How to Start a Travel YouTube Channel (Do THIS First)

So you’ve decided you want to start a travel YouTube channel. You’re not exactly sure where to start, but that’s why you’re here .

In this blog post, we will walk you through the steps that you need to take to get your new travel YouTube channel off the ground.

We’ll give you the 7 steps to begin creating content, building a following, and promoting your channel.

So what are you waiting for? Start reading below!

travel youtube channel ideas

Table of Contents

Choose a Name For Your Channel

When starting a YouTube channel, it can be tempting to spend hours agonizing over the perfect name. However, it’s important to remember that you can always change your channel name later on.

In the beginning, it’s WAY more important to focus on creating great content.

With that said, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a name for your YouTube channel.

First, consider your niche. If you plan on making videos about a specific topic, it can be helpful to include that in your channel name. For example, if you’re a travel vlogger, you might choose a name like “Budget Backpacker” or “Luxury Traveler.”

The only issue with this is that you might ‘pinhole’ yourself into only making certain content. For example, it might be difficult for ‘ Budget Backpacker ‘ to create a vlog about luxury travel.

This is why some people choose to use their own name instead, which can be a great option if you eventually want to branch out into other topics. For example, for my first channel I chose ‘The Life of Jord’ .

Ultimately, the best way to choose a name for your YouTube channel is to go with whatever feels right for you.

Pick a Niche for Your YouTube Channel

It can be tough to figure out what kind of niche you want your YouTube channel to fall into.

There are already so many channels out there, and it can feel like everything has been covered already. But the most important thing is to choose something you’re passionate about.

Once you’ve found your niche, try focusing on an aspect of that niche that you think maybe hasn’t been covered so far on YouTube – or something that you can cover better!

Having a niche will help you attract viewers who are interested in what you have to say, and it will make it easier for you to come up with content ideas.

So if you’re feeling stuck, just ask yourself what it is that you like talking about – and go from there!

travel youtube channel ideas

Create a Channel Trailer and post it on YouTube

So, you’ve picked a niche for your YouTube channel… congratulations!

One of the next steps is to create a channel trailer.

This is a short (usually around 1 minute) video that gives viewers an idea of what your channel is about and what kind of content they can expect to see. It’s a great way to introduce yourself and your channel, so don’t be afraid to be creative and have fun with it!

One thing to keep in mind is that quality isn’t massively important at this stage – you can always change and update your channel trailer later on. Just focus on talking to the camera and explaining what your channel is all about.

Be sure to inject some of your personality into it too – viewers want to see the real you, not just a polished version of yourself.

Once you’ve created your channel trailer, it’s time to start uploading content!

Practice makes perfect, so the more videos you upload, the better you’ll become at creating engaging content that people will want to watch.

Start Creating Videos – make sure they’re interesting and engaging to watch

The most important part of creating a successful YouTube channel is uploading videos on a regular basis.

It doesn’t matter if they’re perfect, the main thing is that you’re putting content out there for people to watch.

Over time, you’ll start to get a sense of what your viewers like and what kind of videos they respond to. Once you know that, you can start to work on making your videos more engaging.

Keep improving the quality of your content and eventually, you’ll start to see your channel grow.

In addition, make sure to use the newest and best editing software available to keep up the quality of your channel.

The most important thing is to be consistent and keep uploading new videos. Just keep going!

Share Your Videos on Social Media and Other Online Platforms

If you’re like me and you’re this far in, you love making YouTube videos and sharing your creativity with the world.

But once you’ve made your video, how do you get people to watch it?

One way is to share it on other social media platforms. This can help you reach a whole new audience who might not have found your video otherwise. And don’t be afraid to ask people to share it too!

Another tip is to create smaller versions of your content that you can repurpose for other platforms. For example, you could make a short clip for Instagram or TikTok. This is a great way to grow your audience and get more people interested in your videos.

Finally, remember to find your tribe. There are other YouTubers out there who share your interests and who would be happy to promote your videos.

So reach out and make some connections!

By working together, you can help each other grow your audiences and reach even more people with your great content.

Engage with Viewers and Other Creators in the Travel Community

As a travel creator, it’s important to engage with your viewers and other creators in the travel community.

Answer comments, engage with people with similar interests and build a community around your channel.

There are often even travel creator meetups in your local area! This is a great way to connect with like-minded individuals and get tips and advice from others in the industry.

By engaging with the travel community, you’ll be able to learn from others and make connections that will help you in your travel YouTube career. There are great travel fairs such as World Travel Market or ITB .

Keep Uploading Videos and be Consisent

As a travel YouTuber, one of the most important things is to be consistent with your uploads. You never know which video is going to take off and get a ton of views, so it’s important to keep putting out new content regularly.

Whether that means uploading one video per week or two videos per week, find a schedule that works for you and stick to it.

At the same time, don’t sacrifice quality for quantity – make sure you’re taking the time to edit your videos and put out your best work.

If you can strike a balance between those two things, you’ll be on your way to success!

Blending their off-the-beaten-path hobbies with exploring new destinations keeps things feeling new and unique for the audience.

Having different creative outlets can inspire travel vloggers to think outside the box with their videos. When they show their varied passions into the storytelling, it results in content that feels more authentic and multi-layered than a standard travelogue.

Viewers get transported into the vlogger’s experience – not just the typical tourist highlights.

This range of interests and expressions makes their adventures more vibrant, engaging, and memorable for fans.

The Best Travel Youtube Channels

Kara and nate, who are they:  .

Kara and Nate are travel vloggers that are just good wholesome fun.  They set out from Nashville Tennesee to travel the world about 5 years ago.  Soon after, they made a bucket list goal to visit 100 countries by 2020.  They met their 100-country goal, and by that time, YouTube was a steady career for them.  Kara and Nate are truly addicted to international travel, but COVID changed that game for the couple.  Having no quit in them, they found a way to travel safely and returned to the United States.  They converted a Sprinter van and have set a new goal to visit all 50 states.  Kara and Nate are one of the largest travel channels and have now put out more than 800 videos, so you better get started!

What Makes Kara and Nate Special:

Kara is a joyful soul. Her big smile and contagious laugh keep you smiling the whole episode.  Plus, she is always ready to laugh at herself and just seems like an all-around nice person.  Nate is so driven and incredibly smart.  Their channel not only provides solid entertainment but great travel hacks and tips from Nate.  Nate has an online course on credit card travel hacks, while Kara sells courses on editing.

Kara and Nate don’t just randomly vlog, they focus on finding the absolute best and most unique experiences and accommodations in their travels.  On top of all that, their filming and editing skills are above and beyond most in the travel vlog world.  They have taken this venture as a business from early on in the process, and it shows.  They are some of the best travel vloggers in the world!

Flying the Nest

Stephen and Jess are an Australian couple who have been traveling the world for years!  We have watched them grow up, get married, and start a family on YouTube.  Currently, they are traveling Australia in their brand new converted van, “Cooper The Van.”  Stephen and Jess show us the best places to eat, unique places to stay, and how to still have adventure even when the kiddos come along.

What Makes Flying the Nest Special:

Jess is possibly the most down-to-earth beauty out there.  Nothing seems to ruffle her feathers, and she is just a calming force to watch.  Stephen is quirky and so funny.  He is a dork, and he knows it, and he owns it!  Their love for each other is evident, and it’s just a feel-good watch.  Plus, now they have the addition of beautiful baby Hunter, the most chill travel baby ever!

Hunter has added a whole new level of cute to the series, and the whole audience feels like proud parents watching their own child experience her first Aussie beach sunset.  They are a beautiful family, with a beautiful story.  In addition to all this, Stephen’s camera work and elegant editing style are all his own.  His work is distinguishable and excellent!  We think Flying the Nest is one of the best travel youtube channels out there!

Who Are They :

There is nothing more fun on the planet than watching these two crazy Welsh kids tackle the world! Their accents are hilarious.  They are hilarious.  Craig and Aimee have been together for a very long time, and their relationship has been strengthened by a near-death experience by each of them!  When they met, Aimee had just received a cancer diagnosis, and the road was long and hard.  Then, Craig challenged their relationship some more with a broken neck from an adventure sports accident.

These two events, in a short span of time, convinced this crazy pair to chase after an unconventional life, and to live every moment to its fullest! Through it all, they have kept their joy and their sense of spontaneity.  Their motto is to “Rule Your Own World,” and they certainly do.  They have spent the last couple of years renovating a Mercedes Vario Bus into their new home.  Custard the Bus is a beauty, and her European adventures are just beginning. They have 500 travel videos for you to binge!  We think they are one of the best travel channels on YouTube and terribly underrated.

What Makes Kinging It Special:

Craig and Aimee are absolutely hilarious.  They will have you wetting yourself, every episode!  Plus, they take on the wildest challenges.  They have completed the massive and absurd Mongol Rally, a competition that travels all through Europe and Asia, usually ending somewhere in Eastern Russia.  The car must be a clunker and have under a 1L engine, and chaos is highly encouraged!  Craig and Aimee’s Mongol Rally Series will have you rolling. Then these crazy kids bought their own rickshaw and proceeded to drive it from across India from North to South.  It was a wild ride.  Craig and Aimee are two personalities that you won’t soon forget, and their wild abandon, hilarious travel stories, and zest for life will make you want to live a little more freely, and “Rule your own world!”

Raya and Louis

Who are they:.

Raya and Louis are fairly new to the Travel YouTube scene as a couple, but Louis Cole has been in the biz for a long time.  His original channel, FunForLouis has over 2Million Subs, and it’s easy to see why.  Louis is just likable with his laidback vibe and a head full of dreadlocks. He’s an easy-going and loveable dude.  He and Raya are currently traveling through Europe in a rented van visiting family and taking holiday, but soon they will head back to their main mission.  They have about 50 videos out, so you can still easily catch up with the adventure.

What Makes Raya and Louis Special:

Raya and Louis are into deep convos.  They have spilled the beans about the hard parts of their relationships and mental health issues, and there is just something about that level of vulnerability that makes you want to watch. They are also very eco-conscious and give great tips on how to travel in an eco-friendly way.  They have recently purchased land in Costa Rica to build a tree-house jungle community.  Like with everyone else, COVID changed their plans a bit, but soon, they will be making their way down to Costa Rica in their converted school bus to start a new life!  We can’t wait to see the community they build.

Endless Adventure

Eric and Allison are the most charming couple from Missouri.  They’re sometimes Southern twang and complete and utter talent to be their quirky selves is both endearing and super funny.  Eric is a computer geek and a total self-proclaimed nerd.  Allison is red-headed beauty with the best big awkward laugh.  These two specialize in unique accommodations and lots of food! They always show us the best places to eat, and exactly what weird foods to try.

Their lighthearted personalities and willingness to just be their nerdy selves make you instantly love them!  They have currently begun a tiny home renovation too, but not any old sprinter van would fit these two.  They have bought a completely run-down 1970s RV, and they are taking on the renovation completely by themselves!  Clementine  is going to be a beauty, and it has been an awesome journey to watch.  They have  737  videos for you to catch up on!

What Makes Endless Adventure Special:

They make great videos.  They cover great content, but Allison and Eric are people you could watch read the phone book and be happy.  They are really enjoyable to watch, no matter what they are doing.  They obviously love one another. They love good beer and whiskey in equal measure, and they love a challenge.  They are awkward, funny, quirky, and absolutely adorable!  Keep it coming Eric and Allison. We love it all!

Who Is He:

“Food is the reason you should travel.”  Well, Mark, we agree!  After University, Mark Wiens set out to find the world’s best street food.  He has traveled the markets of Southeast Asia, stalls of Japan, and he recently spent 16 days with the street vendors of Pakistan.  Mark’s channel is absolutely huge!  With over 8 million viewers, it’s obvious that we YouTube viewers really love food…and Mark.  Mark is an unassuming and charming guy. His great big smile, love for food, and humble demeanor are endearing.  Between his YouTube personality and his incredibly informative blog, Migrationology,  it’s no wonder he has so many faithful followers.  Mark has found a beautiful wife in Thailand and settled with his new family in Bangkok, but they still travel frequently in the hunt for the best street foods in the world!

What Makes Mark Special:

Honestly, we all wish we knew Mark’s secret!  We think the secret to Mark’s success, aside from some great business savvy, is his magnetic personality.  Mark is one of the most positive personas online.  Even after over 1,100 videos on food, he still seems just as excited as he did with the first one!  Mark greets every new place and every new food adventure with gusto and genuine excitement.  Mark loves food, and we love Mark!

Travel Beans

Alex and Emma are a pair of Brits out traveling the world and documenting their “Tipsy Beans” moments.  They may or may not have a tendency to get a little inebriated while filming.  Alex is witty and his sarcasm comes at the most unexpected moments.  Emma is a doll and has been very prominent in the push for better mental health advocacy.  Emma has struggled with some depression issues, which they have well-documented in a two-part series on their channel.  Thankfully, she has received the help she needed and has come out on the other side.  She now uses their channel on occasion to express the importance of finding life and health in this world, and doing what makes you happy! They have recently started a van conversion as well, and we can’t wait to see what they come up with!

What Makes Travel Beans Special:

Alex and Emma are truly authentic.  What you see is what you get: drunk, depressed, happy, angry, sarcastic, whatever is going on, you get the true and unfiltered version from them.  They are very funny, and who doesn’t love that perfect British accent? If sarcastic and loveable Brits adventuring is your thing, Alex and Emma have 485 videos just waiting for you!

Who Is She:

Nadine is one of the oldest and best in the game.  For almost 10 years she has been traveling the globe, first as a solo traveler, then-wife, and now mother.  Nadine has been to almost 60 countries and is the travel tips queen!  She’s always got the best advice and little tricks to make your trip smoother.  Plus, she’s really funny.  Her vlog has transitioned a lot since becoming a new mother.  She posts much more of the daily grind and general lifestyle hacks, but we still can’t take our eyes off her.  Nadine has represented every big brand in the business, spoken at every travel conference, and landed all the awards.  She is the best, and yet she is humble and down to earth. We’ll watch you mom any day Nadine!

What Make Hey Nadine Special:

Nadine has been in the wanderlust business a long time, and she just knows how to be in front of the camera.  She presents great info in a funny way, and she is joyful and energetic.  She is just fun to watch.

Lexi Limitless

Lexi is a new kid on the scene who has made a huge splash!! That’s all because she has the unique distinction of holding a Guinness World Record.  Lexie was the youngest person ever to travel to all 196 countries of the world.  She accomplished this feat before her 21st birthday!  Lexi is a remarkable young woman, and that level of travel has made her wise and mature beyond her years.

What Makes Lexi Limitless Special:

This solo female traveler has literally experienced every culture on earth.  She has lived with remote African tribes and tried the world’s most nasty foods.  She is a lovely girl, with a great series of travel vlogs that cover a wide range of topics, obviously!  Her footage is surprisingly well-shot and well-edited. Lexie is just starting to roll out the videos from her years of travel, so go check her out now!

Alexander Ayling

Alex and Marko Ayling made YouTube travel content for years as the Vagabrothers.  They have now slowed on that, but Alexander is taking on a brand new adventure.  He has moved to New Zealand and bought a homestead with his wife Carrie. After a long hunt for the perfect property, they have finally found it, and the renovations have begun.  Alex and Carrie have big plans, and we can’t wait to see how it turns out!

What Makes Alexander Ayling Special:

Alex is a filmmaker at heart.  His footage is perfect. Always.  Not to mention that Alex has a very distinct narrative style to his videos.  He wants his channel to feel like a place where you come to have a good chat with an old friend.  He truly lets you in on his life and leaves you wanting more!   Catch up on Alex and Carrie’s Renovation Dream here!

Wolter’s World

Wolter’s World has carved out his own nitch in the travel world.  Unlike the rest of the famous travel bloggers, Wolter doesn’t tell you what to do in a famous destination.  He tells you what not to do!  Brilliant.  Every great traveler wants to blend in and look like a local if possible, or at least not do anything too stupid!  Wolter helps us out in this realm.  He makes sure we know the “Top Ten Things NOT to do in El Salvador,” and everywhere else!  Wolter’s World has been in the game almost 10 years too, and his video collection is extensive.  If you want to make sure you don’t have massive culture shock, have all the do’s and dont’s, and know the down and dirty for your destination, Wolter is your guy!

What Makes Wolter’s World Special:

Wolter has a special way of being able to present the good, the bad, and the ugly about a destination, in a respectful and culturally appropriate way.  He is not afraid to state the bad stuff, and we appreciate it.  Let’s be real. Every destination has its goods and bads, and any experienced traveler wants to know the less than glossy stuff before we arrive. So, we appreciate you, Wolter, keep it up!

Expert Vagabond

Matthew Karstan is a true vagabond.  His channel focuses on hiking and camping adventures and budget travel advice in some incredible and off-the-tourist-track places.  Matt has worked with everyone from Lonely Planet, to National Geographic, and Go Pro.  He excels as a travel blogger and photographer,  in print and social media. His travel blog tells exceptional stories of life on the road as a digital nomad. However, his YouTube channel is a fabulous collection of his adventures in true old-school vlogger fashion. He is genuine, experienced, and gives fantastic advice.

What Makes Expert Vagabond Special:

Matthew is just a normal guy who loves nature and loves to travel the world.  He isn’t especially eloquent, and his videos aren’t overproduced.  He just gives great footage, great advice, and especially great travel experiences, from an expert traveler who has seen it all!

Eamon and Bec

Eamon and Bec are the quintessential van-lifers… or they were.  They were traveling in Morocco when COVID hit, and they had to abandon their van  Trinity  there.  Though they did get a new van and do a few trips, COVID made life tough for these Canadians.  They soon abandoned the van in favor of a cabin in the Canadian wilderness.  They are quite the DIYers and have entertained us thoroughly with their renovation successes and disasters!  Eamon is always on the move to the next crazy antic and Bec is just along for the ride.  Her great big laugh and gentle spirit make everyone love her.  Their next adventure is to buy another Canadian property to run as an Airbnb.

What Makes Eamon and Bec Special:

E and B are another great couple that has proved during this pandemic that they could sit and do absolutely nothing, and we would still tune in every Sunday to get our fix!  We have watched them tackle everything from van conversions to home conversion, dog fostering, and more. And, we still can’t get enough. This delightful pair has over 300 vids for you to veg out on, and we know you’re gonna love them.

Rick Steves

Rick Steves is the king of all things travel-related. Period.  There are no better travel guide books on the planet! His fabulously detailed books and ridiculously nerdy audio guides have been leading us through Europe and making us snort-laugh for years! But, the YouTube videos he produces are just as good.  Rick isn’t really a vlogger in the traditional sense.  His videos are definitely professionally researched, written, filmed, and produced by a talented professional team.  They are just the right mix of fun and informative, with all the necessary information on tourist sites and local must-do items.

What Makes Rick Steves Special:

In short, the experience.  Rick has traveled Europe extensively, with multiple visits to each country.  His team of local guides, researchers, and destination experts put for the most up-to-date and interesting information and leave out the fluff!  With well over 1800 videos to peruse, there really is no better place to get all your necessary trip information.

Sailing la Vagabonde

Riley and Elayna have the world’s largest sailing YouTube channel.  These two Aussies are going through a transition though.  They recently had their second baby and sailed their last sail.  So, what is up for the crazy foursome now?  We don’t really know, but we know it will be fun!

What Makes Saling La Vagabonde Special:

We have watched their whole relationship unfold from newly-mets who had never sailed, to season professionals with two beautiful kiddos. We don’t know what is in store, but we are guaranteed to stay tuned to see!

New Travel YouTube Channels to Keep an Eye On

While we have focused most of this article on the oldies but goodies, there are some truly great channels that are just getting their start on YouTube.  For a few fresh faces in the travel industry, we suggest you subscribe to one of these awesome newcomers!

Jits into the Sunset

Tania and Adam are an Irish and English couple traveling the UK with their Sprinter van  Jitters.  They are different in the YouTube crowd.  They make travel vlogs, yes, but not all that often.  They are self-proclaimed slow travelers, who put out new videos whenever they feel like it. However, they are full of travel inspiration and well worth the wait.

What Makes Jits Special:

Adam and Tania do life van life their own way, and they don’t seem to get caught up in the travel YouTube channel game.  They make vlogs, but it doesn’t seem to rule their life.  They live on their own plane and do things in true freedom, and that’s an admirable way to live!

Lost Among Locals

Who are they: .

Ryan and Abby are a married couple from Arkansas.  They left their jobs and sold it all in early 2020: the big house, the cars, all of it! Little did they know COVID was coming. Like everyone on this list,  it changed their plans a bit, but they managed to Central America and start their world tour.  Ryan is quiet, slightly awkward, and you can tell he is the world’s nicest person.  Abby is sassy, funny, and you never know what might come out of her mouth!

Ryan and Abby are culture vultures who genuinely love to learn about history, cultural oddities, and all the things that make different people groups unique.  They are full-time travelers and digital nomads, so their version of slow travel and international living is refreshing to watch.

What Makes Lost Among Locals Special:

They traveled internationally for 12 years before leaving for full-time travel and had already experienced several amazing destinations as a pair.  So, they bring a unique blend of touristy sites juxtaposed with everyday local life and budget travel tips.  They dance with Albanians at a baby’s birthday party, play street games with old Turkish men, and score the best local foods in every destination.  COVID definitely made local interaction harder for them, as they regrettably express, but we look forward to seeing more of their off-the-beaten-path lifestyle in the future!  Keep up the good work guys!

The Vandersons

Emily and Danny feel like instant friends.  They are just so likable.  Danny and Emily set out in their van, with their cat Graham and dog Sombrita right after they got married.  They have since been traveling through Central America with their nomad pet family! Their goal is to make the full journey from Seattle to Argentina in their tiny, colorful van.  Though they are new to video making, their vlogs are heartfelt and laidback.  Danny is a lifelong BMX biker and app developer, with a surfer boy vibe and Emily is the sweetest soul. If easy-going is the vibe you are after, these two have the vids for you!

What Makes The Vandersons Special:

Emily has a narrating voice that is absolute perfection. Their footage is good, but the real perk to watching the Vandersons is that they tackle destinations you have never heard of.  Because they travel full-time, at their own pace, they get to some truly off-the-beaten-path gems that you don’t get to see in many other travel vlogs. Plus, their delightful pet-filled family is just heartwarming, and it’s awesome to see a young couple so happy, living a crazy unconventional life to the fullest!

That’s it, guys!  These are the best travel bloggers out there right now!  You have lots of new videos to binge, so you better get busy! Let us know in the comments, which of these bloggers is your favorite.

How to Make Travel Videos for YouTube (and Grow Your Channel)

“ I feel like I’m traveling with you when I watch your videos .” – A comment on one of my YouTube videos.

And in fact, many of the emails and Facebook messages I get asked these days, begin something like, “Hey, I saw your videos…”

Why did I share this?

It demonstrates the power you have with videos, and the potential you have to connect with your audience.

In this post, I’m going to share with you a step-by-step guide on how to make travel videos for YouTube (and then depending on what your goal is, I’ll show you how to grow your channel and subscribers).

Why Are Videos Important?

Word of Warning: This guide is long and extensive (and I share a lot of the things I’ve done to grow my YouTube channel), so if you’re interesting in learning how to make travel videos (or any video) for YouTube, I would encourage you to read through ALL of it. And if you have a question, leave a comment at the bottom.

The reason videos are so important is because they are incredibly engaging and offer a well rounded sensory experience that includes visual motion, sound, story, and personality.

I always loved taking photos of food and blogging about it, but I continued to think to myself that there had to be a better way to show the atmosphere of eating and the emotion of tasting delicious food.

It was sometime in 2011 that it hit me:

I needed to start making travel and food videos and posting them on my YouTube channel .

On that day I committed myself to learning how to make travel videos (mostly food focused), and how to optimize video SEO on YouTube (which is not only the biggest video website platform , but also the world’s second largest search engine).

When I first started making video, I had no experience, and had little clue what I was doing (and I only had a small point and shoot camera). Today, my YouTube channel is my main sources of making money  and getting traffic.

The point of saying this is:

Videos have massive potential. And even if you have no experience, and have no idea what you’re doing, you can still get started today (and this guide will walk you through getting started).

How to Make Travel Videos for YouTube

One of the greatest things about making travel videos yourself is that you’re the producer, and you can decide what you want to do, how you want to film your story, and you don’t have to let anyone else approve your video before you publish it.

This first section is going to cover a quick formula for how to make travel videos, and we’ll then go much more in-depth about each of these topics below.

4 Basic Steps:

  • Define Your Story : According to the Harvard Business Review , our brains naturally love stories and are attracted to following them. Think about what story you’re going to share in your video.
  • Film Your Video : Once you have your story, it’s time to start filming your video. I would recommend getting lots of both close up detailed shots, and long wide shots. And get some extra shots for post editing too.
  • Edit Your Video : Editing your video is the process of taking the raw clips you filmed, and making them into a flowable story, where you can cut out parts you don’t need, and keep everything in sequence. Editing a video is sort of like doing a puzzle, you get to fit everything together.
  • Publish and Promote : Once you’ve created your video, it’s time to upload it to YouTube or anywhere else of your choosing, and optimize and promote it so you can share your video story with others.

Now, let’s get into some serious details.

Travel Video Ideas

Before you start making travel videos, you might want to take some time to think about the types of travel videos you want to create.

Sometimes though, it helps to start making videos first. Then once you’ve done some experimenting, you’ll be able to narrow in on the types of videos you enjoy making, and that are most effective for what you’re doing.

Types of videos

  • Travel Vlogs : Vlogs, or video blogs, are the video equivalent of a blog post. Travel vlogs are typically very personal, overall pretty natural, focused on reality, and for the most part they don’t need to be perfectly edited or filmed (they are often filmed by yourself, selfie style). According to BBC , a key to the top vloggers is that they build trust with their audience. Vlogs are one of my personal preferred methods of making travel videos because they don’t have pressure and are meant to be natural. In addition to showing personality, in my vlogs I try to offer helpful tips, like where to stay, and restaurants to eat at.
  • Travel Guide Videos : Making a travel guide destination video could be something like a “Guide to visiting Delhi,” or “ 25 Things To Do in Tokyo .” These are examples of travel videos that aren’t just personal updates, but they are designed to inspire or help people travel. Additionally, these types of destination videos can be optimized for search engines (either on YouTube search or Google search) so that they keep on being viewed. Destination travel videos can take some planning, lots of footage, and a lot of editing. But the results I’ve seen from these pillar style videos, can be huge.
  • Niche Videos : When I first started making travel videos for YouTube, I really had no focus or story, and I just uploaded a few videos and waited to see what would happen. However, my passion is food travel, and so when I started focusing on my niche, I decided to make the majority of my videos focused on food (which is often a part of travel). Choose the niche that you’re passionate about and make videos revolving around your passion.
  • Explanation or Marketing Videos : Since videos are so engaging, they can be hugely effective for marketing and promotions. Your “ About ” page on your travel blog is probably one of the most viewed pages on your website, so why not make an “ About Me ” video. Putting a face, voice, and personality behind a blog immediately makes it more trustworthy, personable, and credible.

There are many kinds of travel video possibilities and these are just a few to get your ideas flowing.

But the BEST way to figure out what kind of travel videos you want to start making, is to start filming and publishing and seeing what works and what you enjoy.

What’s the most important thing about a video?

Casey Neistat , one of the greatest vloggers on YouTube, has consistently said “story” is the most important component of ANY video.

I fully agree.

Have you ever watched one of those amazingly filmed scenery videos with the gorgeous footage and music in the background? After about a minute of watching, maybe you got bored and went to the next video. It’s inspirational, but not a story.

On the flip-side, you’ve watched a video where someone is explaining something or sharing something, that keeps you engaged and watching, and walks you through a story. And all of a sudden you don’t know where 10 minutes just went.

Think about a story for every video you make.

Will you be the face of your video?

The way I see it, there are in general just 2 different types of travel videos:

  • You are in the video
  • You are not in the video

I’ll tell you this:

If viewers can see your face and feel your personality, they will instantly connect much better with you than if they don’t see your face.

I’m not saying you need to be the main part of your video, but what I think works best is a mixture of being on camera and then overlaying video clips to explain what you’re talking about.

I was nervous and felt weird the first time I decided to make a food video on camera. Speaking in front of the camera, even if you’re filming yourself, can be a scary thing. But I’m here to tell you that, just like most things you practice, you get better and more comfortable at it.

If you choose not to be on camera you can always edit your videos and add voice overs or add music to your travel videos.

Video Cameras and Equipment

Cameras and equipment are of course essential for making videos. But at the same time, if you don’t have a plan or story, they aren’t worth much.

Video quality is important, but at the same time, I would encourage you to still make videos, even if you don’t feel your equipment is good enough. You can record great video nowadays with point and shoot cameras, or even phones.

I started with a point and shoot camera (I think it was 4.3 megapixel), and I also formerly used a Canon 70D to film my videos (the Canon 80D is the updated version and a great camera). It’s a great camera because it has a wonderful autofocus so you can easily film yourself. But it’s a pretty big and bulky camera.

As of mid 2015, I switched over to a mirrorless camera that is much smaller and easier to use, and I’ve been very happy with the image quality.

Video camera I use:

  • LUMIX GX8 : This is the main camera I use to film all my current videos. I love the quality and size. The only think I don’t like about it is that I have to use an audio converter plug for the microphone.
  • LUMIX 12 – 35 mm lens : I use this lens along with the GX8 to film nearly all my videos. It has a good range and depth of field.
  • RODE Video Mic Pro : Audio is a huge part of video, and the RODE mic is a fantastic shotgun directional mic that picks up voice but also atmosphere sounds.

Almost all my videos are filmed with this simple setup. You may also want to consider using a tripod or monopod for best video results, but it’s not necessary. I normally don’t carry a full tripod with me, but I do use a Joby gorilla pod frequently.

editing travel videos

Edit Your YouTube Videos

There are endless ways for how to make travel videos and edit them, but here’s a formula that I use, and it has worked well.

As a side note, knowing how I’m going to edit my videos, also helps me when I’m filming. So it might be helpful for you to decided how your going to edit before you start filming.

4 Step Editing Formula:

  • Introduction  (around 10 seconds): The first 10 seconds of your video are hugely important. If it’s no engaging enough, people will leave your video. Capture viewers attention with something interesting or tell them what your video is going to be about.
  • You logo brand (5 seconds): Next, promote your brand. I simply use my logo and add music to it, but others have a more fancy intro.
  • Body of video : (3 – 8 minutes, or could be longer): This is the body storyline of your video, the bulk of the content.
  • Ending and Call To Action (around 10 – 15 seconds): At the end of your video, it’s a good idea to have a call to action. I usually ask viewers to click thumbs up (this can help increase your video rankings), and to subscribe for future videos. One of the most effective ways to achieve a call to action at the end of a video is to speak it, ask viewers to do something. But you can also include an end card that you annotate (do this by building it into your video when you’re editing).

A good length to aim for is from 3 – 10 minutes, but you can also try different length videos as well. I’ve had shorter 1 minute videos do well, and longer 15 minute videos do well.

For this travel videos guide, I’m not going to get into the details of actual editing. However, it’s pretty easy to learn, depending on what software you use. You don’t need to worry about special effects or doing anything too fancy, just mainly focus on cutting out parts you don’t need and adding in pieces you do need to complete your story.

Editing Tools

  • Video Editing Software : There are many programs to edit your videos with. I use  Adobe Premiere , and another popular choice on Macs is Final Cut . However, there are even good free editing software like Lightworks .
  • Voice Over : Recording your voice and overlaying it on video is a good way to add more value and information to your travel videos while keeping your video interesting and engaging. It does take time, but it’s worth it, especially on destination style videos.
  • Music : Music can make or break a travel video, so choose something wisely that fits the mood, is important. But be very careful of copyrights and only use music that you are licensed to use or you. I’ve used plenty of royalty free music from Kevin MacLeod and Josh Woodward , which are free to use and profit from as long as you credit the producer. I also occasionally purchase music from sites like Premium Beat  and  Audio Jungle . You might also check out the subscription service with Audio Network and Audio Blocks .
  • Natural Background Sounds : From my experience, when dealing with travel videos, many people enjoy hearing the real sounds of the place. It adds to the viewer experience of the destination and atmosphere. So if it’s appropriate, consider using less music and more natural background sounds. I learned this from people commenting on my videos, saying they would like to hear the natural background sounds. Another point, listen to what people are commenting on your videos.

You’ve created your video, it’s now time to upload it.

Upload Your Video to YouTube

After shooing and editing your videos, it’s time to upload them to YouTube!

For starters, I always upload my videos as “Private,” so that I can put all the finishing touches, like keywords, descriptions, titles, and annotations, on them before publishing it to the public.

This also allows me to schedule my videos to publish at the exact time that I’ve told my subscribers I’m going to publish.

I probably don’t need to mention this, but just login to your YouTube account, click upload in the upper right corner, and simply drag your video file onto the upload screen. Then wait until it finishes uploading and processing.

But the work doesn’t end here…

video SEO

Optimize Your Video for YouTube

Making and editing a video is only half the work… keep persisting to optimize your videos, it’s worth it in the long run.

What’s the point of optimizing (YouTube SEO)?

Let’s say you have two phrases that mean the same thing, like: “What to do in Bangkok” and “Things to do in Bangkok.” But let’s say 10 times more people search for one of the phrases over the other. Wouldn’t you want to know which phrase that is so that you can target it with your video?

  • Keyword Research : Brian Dean is one of my go to guys for current information on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and keyword research . And even though he typically talks about article marketing, it applies to video SEO as well. You can use the  Google Keyword planner  to search for specific words or phrases that have a high search rate and use them as your main keywords. Example keyword: “Indonesian sate”
  • Video File : Before you upload your video, if you already have your keywords chosen that pertain to the video, you can name your video and add some meta data with your keywords to it, prior to uploading. Name your video file: indonesian-sate.mp4 and then upload.
  • Title : For your YouTube video title, the best thing is to make sure your keywords are at the beginning of your title (but that being said, it’s important for your title to be attractive and make sense at the same time). Example title: “Indonesian Sate in Jakarta”
  • Description : On every YouTube video, you have a description box where you can include information about your video. It’s a good idea to include your keywords in the description box about once every 100 words or so. I normally shoot for 300 – 500 words or so in my video description boxes. Also make sure you include links to your blogs, social media platforms, and wherever you want to direct viewers.
  • Keyword Tags : List your target keyword as the first tag, but then go crazy adding synonyms or other related keywords you can think of.
  • Advanced Settings : Any kind of extra setting that YouTube gives you to fill out behind the scenes of a video you upload, do it. Add in the location, the recoding date, the category etc. I’m not sure how much of a weight this could have in video rank, but if YouTube wants you to do it, it definitely has some benefit.
  • Thumbnail Image : I’m not sure if all YouTube accounts have access to upload custom video thumbnails, but if you have the option, do it faithfully. Attractive video thumbnails can make the difference in people clicking on your video instead of others when they are scrolling through their feed.
  • Subtitles and Closed Captions : Creating video subtitles and closed captions is a huge time consuming task, but it can be a good idea and increase your audience according to YouTube . I sometimes create subtitles for videos I really want to rank for, but since I create so much content, I simply don’t do it for every video. It’s something for you to consider.
  • Embed and Link Videos : Finally, if you have a blog, make sure you embed your video into a blog post that pertains to your video. Not only will it be helpful to readers, but it can also boost the video. Also, just like SEO for articles, linking out to your video is a good idea as well.

This process looks complicated, but really once you get the hang of it, you can do it pretty quickly and effortlessly, and it gets much easier the more you do it.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is not something you have to overdo with it comes to marketing your videos on YouTube, but it is helpful to target words that get more traffic.

growing your youtube channel

How to Grow Your YouTube Channel

The way I see it there are 2 main methods of growing your channel which are in your control.

  • Gain Subscribers : Subscribers are people who subscribe to your YouTube channel and when you publish a video, they are notified and often watch your newest published videos soon after you release them.
  • Create Evergreen Videos (Video SEO) : Evergreen content are videos that rank well when people search on YouTube or Google, and can continue to rack up views over time. These videos bring in new viewers continuously (day and night), and you always have an opportunity to convert them into subscribers. Tips for creating evergreen videos is summarized in the optimize section above.

I say “in your control” because you can do these two things yourself to boost your YouTube channel.

Other less controllable methods for growing your YouTube channels are are somewhat out of your immediate control.

However, focusing on the two things mentioned above and improving your overall channel authority and watch time, will increase your chances of less controllable factors which include things like YouTube promoting your videos as suggested videos or even having one of your videos go viral.

Things To Do:

  • Watch Time : Watch Time is the amount of minutes a viewer watches a video, and it’s an extremely important ranking factor on YouTube videos. Why? Because watch time translates to engagement, and YouTube wants people to stay on YouTube and keep watching videos. If you can create travel videos that are engaging and that have a higher watch time than other videos, your video will likely rank higher than videos about the same subject. This goes back to story, right?
  • Video Schedule : When I first began learning how to make travel videos for YouTube, I committed to publishing 1 video every week, on Wednesday at 8 pm Bangkok time. When I got more into it, I bumped it up to 2 videos per week, on Weds and Sun at 8 pm. Just like a TV show, people will come back (and subscribe) when they know your publishing schedule and if you actually do it. If you’re serious about making videos for YouTube, stick to your schedule. Another bonus of having a schedule is that it pressures yourself to do it – no procrastinating!
  • Intro Video on Channel : Since the introduction of the current YouTube channel designs, there’s a place for an introduction video where a video shows to those who haven’t yet subscribed. I’m not sure of how effective this intro video is, but it’s a good idea to have one that introducing yourself and what your channel is about. Make sure you include a call to action to click subscribe for more videos.
  • Playlists : Playlists are important and necessary for all YouTube channels and all your videos should reside in a playlist, which is a list of videos that have a similar theme and category. Playlists make it easier for viewers to keep watching videos, and they may end up watching your entire playlist of videos if they are engaged. As soon as you publish a video, add it to a playlist.
  • Annotations and Cards : Annotation are clickable boxes that popup when you’re watching a YouTube video with a message. You can use them to ask people to give your video a thumbs up, remind them to check out your blog, or that your new t-shirts are now available. Cards are a nicer looking call to action where you can link out to another website from your video.
  • Comments : Again, YouTube loves to see engagement, and when your video gets lots of “likes” and comments, that improves engagement. Ask people to leave a thumbs up and comment in your video, and then make sure you do your part to answer back as much as you can.

If you follow these tips and keep publishing videos, I’m pretty confident your YouTube channel will grow.

Along with first starting a blog , the decision to start making travel and food videos for YouTube and growing my YouTube channel, was probably the best choice I’ve made in my online career.

In this guide on how to make travel videos for YouTube we’ve gone over a step by step plan on how you can start to make videos and grow your channel (and your videos don’t need to be only about travel, this guide will work for any subject of video).

There’s no doubt that it takes a lot of work. But the beauty of making videos, especially when you have a a platform like YouTube to share them on, is that you have the potential to connect with millions of people from around the world.

Don’t wait, start creating and telling your story today.

40 Awesome YouTube Channel Ideas (Without Showing Your Face)

travel youtube channel ideas

Can you make a YouTube channel without showing your face?

In 2024, the answer is yes — 100%.

But we'll be honest: Starting a faceless YouTube channel is no easier than starting one where everybody knows your name. To make up for the lack of face time, you'll need more visual elements, such as stock videos, images, graphics, and text. So in the long run, you'll spend more time editing than other creators.

But making faceless content comes with many advantages, such as:

  • Protecting your privacy on social media
  • Keeping your employer from knowing you have a channel
  • Shielding yourself from unwanted opinions (family and friends)
  • Having a comfortable experience on YouTube

Ready to get started? Here are the best faceless YouTube channel ideas.

1. Study With Me Sessions

Are you in college or high school? If so, this may be the perfect idea for your YouTube channel. "Study With Me" videos create a virtual library atmosphere, where high levels of productivity meet unwavering concentration. So, crack open your textbooks, point the camera away from yourself, and get to studying! And if you need some inspiration, check out Merve's channel.

2. Interesting Facts

Have you ever wondered why flamingos are pink or how many times a bee flaps its wings per second? Chances are, someone else is thinking the exact same thing. Well, this is your sign to create a channel dedicated to interesting facts! They'll be the star of the show while you remain 100% anonymous. Bright Side is a good example, as the channel is faceless but has thousands of facts to share.

3. Quizzes and Games

Who says you can't create your own game show on YouTube? If your friends call you the trivia king or queen, put your knowledge to the test by creating games and quizzes in video format. These channels throw down the gauntlet on topics from pop culture to physics, and you won't see the quizmaster — just the challenge they've set. By the way, Quiz Kingdom is a great example to follow!

4. Magic Tricks and Illusions

You might not have the face of a magician, but then again, you don't exactly need one. Plenty of YouTubers are performing magic tricks with just their hands showing, and you can follow their lead to grow your YouTube channel. Check out this card illusion from MLT Magic Tricks .

5. Gardening and Plant Care

Imagine starting a plant care channel using your backyard, patio, or the space beside your kitchen window. You wouldn't have to show your face, especially when filming educational videos. For example, The Green Earth has a viral video exposing indoor plants that grow in just water (no soil required). It's greenery galore without a gardener in sight!

6. Silent Vlogs (Day in the Life Without Talking)

If silence is golden, then silent vlogs are pure treasure on YouTube. These videos strip away the chatter, letting the visuals do all the talking. It's life, unscripted and unspoken, and sometimes that says more than words ever could. For a little inspiration, check out thisisMy's .

7. Puppet Shows and Performances

With this channel idea, puppets have the full stage. If you're crafty and creative, this type of content is a great way to grow on YouTube while staying out of the spotlight. There aren't many puppet channels on YouTube, either, so you won't face overwhelming competition. Check out nanalan' official to see how it's done!

8. Remote Control Vehicles and Competitions

This YouTube idea offers the thrill of racing without having to drive (or crash) a real car. It's all about the machines and their maneuvers, so you can definitely show that without appearing on camera. For example, Manish Kingdom is one channel cashing in on this easy idea!

9. Pet Vlogs

Who's really the boss at home? Pet vlogs are a great way to showcase the daily drama and delights of our animal overlords. After all, it's a pet's world — we're just living in it (and filming it). There's no better example of this than Zeusy The Talking Pitty.

10. Wildlife Watching

If you a wildlife enthusiast, you're fortunate in that you'll never have to appear on camera. You can go bird watching, whale watching, or any type of watching for that matter — and let the animals steal the show. Check out DolphinDroneDom to see how majestic this channel idea can be!

11. Travel Guides

You don't have to go to Europe, Asia, Africa, or any other continent to show the world around you. Plenty of faceless channels are using stock footage and imagery to show the most exciting cities on Earth! Best of all, these videos get massive buzz. Touropia snagged 8.7 millions views with their viral guide, "25 Most Beautiful Destinations in Europe."

12. Book Summaries

Do you love reading books? Have you always believed that animated videos are the coolest ? If so, it's time to start your faceless channel and make "book summaries" the sole focus! Many people don't have time to read a full book, so you'll help them out by summarizing the main takeaways. That's how Escaping Ordinary got 14 million views with a summary of Atomic Habits by James Clear.

13. Science Experiments

A science experiment is the perfect activity for starting a faceless YouTube channel. After all, people come to see a shocking treat, and not necessarily the creator performing them. So, no worries here: You can keep the camera on your hands and rake in millions of YouTube views. Check out this video by Fun Science , which got 26 million views showing a compilation of experiments!

14. Animated Storytimes

Telling a personal story is one of the best ways to connect with viewers around the world. And, you don't have to be on camera to do it! Many creators take the comic book or cartoon approach, sketching out their story so it's visually compelling. Swoozie is the king of animated storytimes, and he pulls in millions of views with each upload!

15. Tech Reviews

Tech reviews are popular on YouTube, but it's also an oversaturated niche with lots of competition. And guess what? Most techies on YouTube show their face. But you can stand out by focusing on the product you're reviewing and having sharp, insightful narration! If you need inspiration, check out Flossy Carter .

16. Puzzle Solutions

Some people are solving the hardest puzzles on Earth without ever showing their faces. Puzzle Guy is one of those fascinating creators. This channel has over a billion views, so don't underestimate the joy of solving a good puzzle!

17. DIY Crafts

Some channels have no faces or human dialogue, like Kuti Bari . This DIY creator (do it yourself) shows viewers how to craft cool things without necessarily explaining how to do it. Nonetheless, people still love the content! Check out the video below, which earned 5.3 million views for turning a Coke bottle into a table lamp!

18. Finance and Investing Tips

If you understand money on an academic level, try explaining it to millions of viewers on a faceless channel! Finance has been popular on YouTube for years, so why not snag some of those views for yourself? Creators like The Swedish Investor are practically going viral with each video. The one below explains the psychology of money, and it has 3.5 million views!

19. Virtual Dog TV (Relaxing)

Do dogs watch TV? Some creators are proving that they do. Several YouTube channels are producing TV shows for dogs, which includes scenic nature, animals grazing, other dogs playing, and calming music. With this type of channel, you can go faceless for as long as you wish; Relax My Dog surely has!

20. Satisfying Cleaning

Cleaning videos are popular on YouTube, especially the satisfying ones. So break out the heavy cleaning agents, scrubbers, and rubber gloves because this channel idea is 100% faceless!

21. Scary Stories/True Crime

Is Halloween your favorite time of the year? Do you live for mysteries, suspense, and jump scares in movies?

Maybe it's time to start a horror channel on YouTube. Your videos don't have to be bone-chillingly scary, but a healthy dose of suspense will bring viewers to your channel.

And if you want to flex your creativity, horror content is the perfect playground. Some channels mix animation, true crime, and narration to tell the creepiest, most entertaining stories on YouTube.

Here's one example from IMR Scary Tales : "3 True McDonald's Horror Stories Animated."

22. Top 10 Ranking Videos

Do you like to research any and everything in your free time? If so, that's a skill you can quickly bring to YouTube. Depending on what you're interested in, you could spend your days ranking the top 10 movies, vacation spots, pizza restaurants, and more. But instead of showing your face, you'll fill in the visual gaps with images, graphics, and voice-over.

And course, we have a great example. Check out this video from HelloGreedo ranking Star Wars movies from worst to best.

23. Poetry and Spoken Word

Many poets recite their work on-stage in front of a live audience. But with the freedom YouTube provides, there are plenty of ways to share the same performance without ever showing your face.

For example, take a look at RedFrost Motivation . This channel re-enacts popular poems using dramatic B-roll, captions, and voice-over. You can't see the speaker or their body language, but the emotions are just as real on this channel. Here's their rendition of Robert Frost's poem, Acquainted with the Night.

24. Documentary

Making documentaries is one of the easiest ways to avoid showing your face on YouTube. Instead of focusing on yourself, you'll hold a lens to everything else happening in the world. What's going on with climate change? Why do Americans travel to only a few states? Will physical money disappear one day?

One such example is Future Unity . Armed with B-roll and voice-over, this channel tackles big questions without ever showing the creator's face. The content is based on both facts and rumors, which shows just how far you can take a documentary-style approach.

25. Movie and TV Reviews

If you consider yourself a movie critic, we have great news for you.

You don't have to show your face to become a respected reviewer!

It's true. Channels like Steve Reviews have over 500,000 subscribers, and they don't reveal themselves at all. Instead, they share unique commentary and movie clips to keep things interesting.

Want an example? Watch this video where Steve Reviews reacts to viewers not liking The Super Mario Bros Movie.

26. Early Childhood Education

"Made for kids" content is popular on YouTube because anyone can do it without being on camera . You can teach toddlers how to sing their ABCs, recognize shapes, count to 10, and much more. You'll charm kids and their parents with fun animations and up-beat music — not your face!

If you need an example, watch this counting video from The Singing Walrus .

27. Cooking (with Only Hands Showing)

There's been a rise in faceless cooking channels in the past few years. Instead of telling viewers how to cook something, these peaceful creators opt to show them instead.

Our best example comes from Nino's Home , an ASMR cooking channel that adds recipe instructions in the caption area. Check out this video where they quietly sizzle fried chicken.

28. Stock Footage and B-Roll

Who doesn't love drone footage of a rolling countryside or a sprawling cityscape? If you're good with aerial cameras, this might be the faceless YouTube niche for you!

It may come as a shock, but stock footage channels are getting decent views. In fact, this video of Los Angeles from 21Aerials Stock Video Footage has over 100,000 views.

29. Sports Analysis

"Sports talk" usually happens under studio lights at a camera-centric network, such as ESPN. But you don't have to follow the same path on YouTube. Anything's possible with a little B-roll and voice-over, so don't think you have to dress up like analyst Shannon Sharpe on SportsCenter.

When it comes to sports analysis, Total Running Productions is one of the best channels to learn from. This creator makes videos about fast times and world records without ever showing their face.

Check out this video where they break down one of the fastest top-end speeds ever recorded.

30. Nursery Rhymes

Nursery rhymes are all the rage on YouTube, and that's not changing anytime soon. If you have a lovely singing voice (and maybe a friend that's good at animation), you can definitely launch a faceless YouTube channel for baby songs.

Cocomelon is the standout channel in this niche. Watch their most popular video about taking a bath.

ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. That's a fancy way of describing the tingling sensation on your scalp when you hear soothing sounds. And yes, entire YouTube channels are dedicated to that joyous feeling.

Some ASMR channels soothe viewers with gentle whispers. Others mimic familiar sounds we find relaxing: raindrops, rustling trees, pages turning in a book. It's an auditory experience, so no one's expecting to see your face — much like this waterfall video from Relaxing White Noise .

32. Product Unboxings

Unboxing videos are super chill, and they typically don't come with a product review. Instead, the creator opens the product's packaging for the first time to reveal what's inside — sometimes without saying a word.

For example, check out the iPhone unboxing video below (it's ASMR).

For both video types, the product is the star of the show . That means you can test the latest iPhone or unbox a waffle iron without people needing to know who you are. You'll show your hands holding the product more than anything else.

33. Time-Lapse

Have you ever watched a video where the morning sky turns to night in mere seconds? What you witnessed at that moment was a time-lapse. You saw the scene move impossibly fast, but in reality, many images appeared in rapid succession to create the illusion of warped time.

Here's a fun example where a colony of ants spend 41 days eating half a marshmallow.

But that's just one way to get the job done. These days, you can make time-lapse videos on an iPhone or with different Android mobile apps — all without showing your face.

34. Guided Meditation

Meditating alone is difficult for some people. That's why beginners seek guided meditations on YouTube, especially those led by soft-toned instructors.

Does that sound like something you could do? The good news is that starting a meditation channel is less competitive than starting one about gaming or music. If you have a relaxing voice and thoughtful instruction, we'd say you have a fighting chance!

Here's one example from the Great Meditation channel.

35. General Animation/Illustration

Becoming a faceless YouTuber is easy if you have animation skills. You can make 2D, 3D, or stop motion videos without ever appearing on-screen.

For example, take a look at this video from 3D artist Jake Fellman . He often uses trending topics in pop culture (in this case, the video game Among Us ) to make animated videos for billions of viewers.

You can also create  whiteboard animations on YouTube. For this type of video, viewers see a collection of hand-drawn images (on a digital whiteboard) that combine to tell one story — and viewers love it.

But if you aren't the best artist, you can use a service like  VideoScribe  to bring your whiteboard animations to life.

36. Reaction Videos (Audio Only)

We're sure you've seen videos where someone reacts to a trending event on-camera, gasping at the "wow" moments and laughing at the "oops" ones. If that's not your speed, don't worry; there are other ways to make reaction videos on YouTube.

If you don't want to show your face, you can do a speaking reaction instead. Start by screen recording the original video, then share your opinion via voice-over as you watch the video.

Of all the faceless content out there, the stuff we've seen on gaming channels is some of the best.

The focus of a gaming video is never the person playing the game, so it's easy to make content without revealing your identity. All you have to do is screen record your gameplay, add some voice-over, then bam — it's a YouTube video. You can make gaming tutorials, build a compilation of your fails/wins, or walk viewers through different missions.

Need an example? Watch this hilarious video from Let's Game It Out about the video game WorldBox .

38. Relaxing Music

This one's for all the musicians out there. If you make relaxing music, such as ambient or lo-fi, viewers are practically waiting for you to make a YouTube channel. Life gets busy, and we all need music for quiet moments, like hiking, studying, and meditating.

Lofi Girl (formerly Chilled Cow) has been that musical source for years. Check out their continuous stream of relaxing music below. No faces, of course!

39. Explainer/Commentary/Motivational Videos

Guess what? You don't have to turn on the camera to share your point of view. If you're willing to use other elements in your video – voice-over, graphics, stock footage — you can do impressive things on YouTube.

That's how Alux.com makes videos, and they've got more than 4 million subscribers. We've never seen a face on their channel, but a female narrator talks about wealth and finance in each video.

For example, check out the video, "100 Words Rich People Use."

40. Tutorials

If you have a useful skill, why not start a faceless how-to channel? There are countless ideas to try, but you might enjoy some of these:

  • Nail art tutorials
  • Cooking tutorials
  • How to draw videos
  • Software tutorials
  • Guided Lego builds
  • Crafting tutorials
  • Phone repair videos
  • Painting videos
  • Language learning

Remember, these are broad ideas for starting a YouTube channel . You'll probably have to mold them into something that feels more like "you" and the content you're planning.

But automating your YouTube channel is one way to make the journey smooth. Here's how!

50+ YouTube channel ideas for 2024

travel youtube channel ideas

What type of content do you primarily create?

travel youtube channel ideas

People start YouTube channels for a lot of reasons: to build a bigger audience for their business, to share their expertise, to make money online, or even just to find a community of like-minded creatives. If starting a YouTube channel is your goal, great! But you may be wondering where to start.

We’ve put together more than 50 YouTube channel ideas to help you find the best option for your channel. Choose an idea that you enjoy, have some expertise in, or wouldn’t mind learning more about — or just use this list as inspiration for something completely different.

The best YouTube channel idea is one that provides a wealth of video topics, has a lot of audience interest, and that you’re excited about enough to stick it out for the long haul. Because let’s be real, even if you’ve chosen the exact right topic, creating a YouTube channel is a lot of work: recording, video editing, publishing, promoting. You want it to be worth it.

Let’s dig into 50+ ideas (with some examples) of YouTube channels you can start today.

50+ YouTube channel ideas for beginners

Want to create a successful YouTube channel? Gather inspiration from these YouTube video ideas.

1. Personal vlog

Vlog is short for video blog — essentially a video version of someone’s day-to-day life.

Vlogging has been around for decades now but exploded in popularity with the increase of video-sharing platform options such as TikTok and Instagram Reels, not to mention YouTube. As a result, many creators have turned to vlogging as a way to build an audience and make money.

Creator Jules Acree is a YouTube vlogger, sharing content like Q&As, day in the life videos, travel diaries, and more.

If you want to build a personal connection with your audience and are OK sharing your personal life online, vlogging may be a great channel idea for you.

ASMR stands for “autonomous sensory meridian response” — it’s a tingly, relaxing sensation that some people get when they hear certain soft, whispery sounds. Videos that depict these sounds are huge on YouTube. Examples include soap carving, keyboard typing, slime, drawing, and other videos that capture the sound of an action but no other audio.

Many people have created successful channels out of this type of video alone. Consider how you might be able to create satisfying ASMR content for your channel.

3. Life hacks

If there’s one thing people love, it’s a quick way to make their lives easier. That’s why life hack videos are so popular. Create a YouTube channel where you share life hacks — or try life hacks that others have shared to see if they actually work. This content can be both helpful and entertaining, which can build a large and engaged following.

4. Product reviews

Product review videos are all over YouTube, and many channels publish them on top of other types of videos. But you could also create a channel that’s fully dedicated to trying out and reviewing different products.

That’s exactly what YouTube channel Freakin’ Reviews does. It reviews As Seen on TV products to see if they really work the way the infomercials claim they do.

5. How-to videos

How-to videos cover the step-by-step process of how to do something. Again, these can be standalone videos in your niche, or you can create an entire channel of how-tos.

6. Video podcast

Podcasts are inherently audio-based. However, video podcasts have become popular as another avenue for sharing podcast content. Essentially, podcasters set up cameras to film themselves as they record their podcast episodes.

You Can Sit With Us shows a great example of how to optimize your podcast for YouTube , ensuring your video is still just as engaging as the audio.

7. DIY crafts

DIY, or do it yourself, can be a great channel idea. If you’re good at DIYing, consider turning it into a YouTube channel. This can be household items, furniture flips, home renovations, and more. The possibilities of what you can DIY are endless.

8. Unboxing videos

Unboxing videos are essentially a recording of someone opening something — and they’re wildly popular. Influencers will create unboxing videos showing off recent packages they’ve been sent by brands. Gamers will unbox Pokemon cards.

Dottie’s Toys does a great job of creating unboxing videos targeted at younger audiences. These videos open tons of different types of toys and mystery boxes to create exciting, kid-friendly videos.

9. Challenge videos

Challenge videos are all about doing something daring or unbelievable. This can be anything from trying to land a trick shot to surviving 24 hours in the wilderness. They can easily go viral, making them a great option for building up a new YouTube channel.

10. Animated videos

Have animation skills? You might want to focus on animated videos! This is an especially great option if you’re looking to create a faceless YouTube channel where you don’t have to be the star of the show.

Lucas the Spider is an example of a YouTube channel focusing on animated content. The spider is animated and narrated by a voiceover, but the rest of the video content is recorded footage, creating a fun mixed-media type of video.

11. Tutorial videos

Tutorial videos are similar to how-to videos, but they tend to focus on people who are doing a task for the first time — rather than those needing a refresh or a quick step-by-step.

📈 Help your videos go viral: ‎ How to A/B test on YouTube for better video performance

12. Gaming channel

Gaming is an extremely popular topic on YouTube right now — there are nearly half a million gaming channels on the platform. This type of channel typically records and shares videos of the creator playing various video games.

Sparkle Egg is an example of a gaming channel that focuses on Minecraft videos and gameplay.

Some creators focus on a specific game while others will play multiple games. It depends on what you’re good at, what you like to play, and what your target audience wants to see.

13. Cooking channel

Got a clean kitchen and a taste for creativity? Create your own YouTube cooking channel to share your own recipes, try out viral recipes, create “go grocery shopping with me” videos, whatever hungry viewers might like to see.

14. Technology reviews

If you’re a tech early adopter, a technology review channel might be for you. You can review apps, gadgets, higher-end devices, whatever strikes your fancy. This can be a great way to provide objective opinions on technology that others might be interested in buying.

Mrwhosetheboss has amassed over 15 million subscribers with his tech review videos.

15. Fitness channel

Are you passionate about fitness? Have you been trained as a coach, or do you have a fitness journey you want to share with others? Consider creating your own fitness channel. You could focus on yoga, barre, HIIT, or other at-home workouts for your viewers to follow. Or consider including training tips, equipment to use, and more.

16. News channel

Want to share some trending topics or breaking news? Consider creating a news YouTube channel. You can focus on politics, global news, local news, celebrity news, or any other type of news topic you choose.

17. Music channel

Do you record music and want to market it? Consider creating a music channel! This can be a great way to build an audience, especially if you’re wanting to release an album, make money from streaming, or play more live shows.

Rapper Connor Price does a great job of promoting his music via his YouTube channel and other social media platforms.

Share standup comedy, comedic sketches, and other funny videos on your comedy channel. This can be a great way to break into the world of comedy — Bo Burnham, Andy Samberg, Hannah Hart, and the creators of Workaholics all got their start with this strategy.

19. Gardening channel

Have strong opinions about the best way to mulch or the most overrated plants to grow ? You might want to create a gardening channel. Share information about plant care, landscaping ideas, tips and tricks for keeping plants alive, and more.

20. Travel channel

If you love to travel, consider bringing a GoPro along and sharing the footage on your own travel channel. You could create travel guide videos, share the best restaurants, explain how to get the best travel deals, whatever inspires you.

Ryan Shirley creates list videos that cover the top places to go when you visit different areas around the world and has over half a million subscribers.

21. Movie or TV show reviews

Love to watch movies or TV? Turn that passion into a YouTube channel! Create your own movie or TV show reviews and share them on your channel. You might choose to focus on a niche like horror or fantasy, or you might make your reviews funny. Find a way to make your review videos engaging and unique.

22. Sports channel

The great thing about YouTube is that it lets you turn something you love to watch into something you love to do. Share game highlights, comment on draft prospects, or explain what fantasy football newbies need to know. Focus on a single sport like soccer or basketball or create an all-encompassing channel.

23. Makeup channel

Many talented makeup artists choose to create their own makeup channel. This is a great way to monetize a hobby, get even better at a trade, and eventually get access to free or discounted products to use to create even more high-quality videos.

Here’s an example from KathleenLights of a makeup channel and the types of videos you might create.

24. Gameplay/walkthrough videos

We’ve already covered gaming channels. Game walkthrough videos are slightly different, instead focusing on helping gamers beat a particularly tough level or find rare items in a specific game. If you’re at an elite level in a certain game or franchise, this could be the channel for you.

25. Interviews

Create a channel that’s all about interviewing others, whether that’s high-profile figures, interesting peers, or people with a fascinating life story. This is exactly what Colin and Samir do with their channel — they interview creators to share success stories, get behind the scenes details, and generally have entertaining conversations.

26. Timelapses

This type of video content tends to use footage taken over a span of hours or even days, sped up to only a handful of minutes. For example, a timelapse video might depict a sunset, city traffic, or plants growing new leaves.

If you’re a videographer and want to create content like this, you can dedicate your entire channel to various types of timelapses. These are interesting videos to watch and can help you build a following.

27. Motivational/self-help channel

Are you someone people come to for advice? Or maybe you’ve turned your life around and want to help others. Create a motivational or self-help channel. Share motivational quotes, helpful insights, and more.

28. Reaction videos

Reaction videos are videos that YouTubers create of themselves reacting to other videos. These are often — though not always — created by YouTubers who already have a following, so people are more interested in seeing those people react.

Socksfor1 is a great example of this. He’s a gaming YouTuber who has since created a new SocksReact YouTube channel just for his reaction videos.

29. Meditation channel

Create a channel all about meditation. Make videos detailing how to meditate, share guided meditation sessions, share music people can use as background noise, and more.

30. Kids channel

Another great YouTube channel idea is one geared toward kids. Create animated videos with nursery rhyme singalongs, create your own kids show, or create educational kids content.

Ms Rachel is a great example of a popular kids channel that uses songs and educational lessons to create entertaining video content for babies and toddlers.

31. Educational channel

Do you have knowledge about something that you want to share with the world? Consider creating an educational channel. You have a lot of options with this one. You might create videos that teach young viewers about science, or you might create more general-interest narrative videos about historical events.

32. Health/nutrition channel

Create a channel to help your audience live healthier lives through diet and nutrition. You’ll need special training or a degree in this type of information to prove that you’re a legitimate resource for this type of content. But it can be a great way to help your audience become healthier versions of themselves.

Abbey Sharp is a registered dietician and uses her knowledge to create helpful videos on her YouTube channel.

33. Music reviews

Similar to movie or TV reviews, you might choose to create a channel all about reviewing music. You can review things like albums, live shows, tours, tour sets, festivals, and anything else related to the music industry.

34. Fashion/style channel

With a fashion or style channel, you can create “getting ready with me” or “outfit of the day” videos, closet tours, fashion show recaps, and more. This is the perfect type of channel for the fashionista — especially since, if your channel grows, you might be able to get free clothes from brands to promote.

35. Talk show

Create your own talk show on YouTube! Come up with creative segments, find people to interview, and have fun with it. Who knows — if you become successful enough, a network might choose to pick up your show!

36. Compilation/list videos

Compilation or list videos are one of the most popular video types on YouTube. Who doesn’t love a good listicle — even in video format?

MsMojo is a popular list/compilation video channel, typically focusing on movie scenes.

37. YouTube Shorts

YouTube Shorts are a popular video format on YouTube. Essentially, they’re YouTube’s version of TikTok videos and Instagram Reels. They’re short-form videos that help to supplement traditional YouTube content.

Some channels choose to focus entirely on YouTube Shorts. This can be a great monetization strategy, as these short-form videos are wildly popular.

38. Whiteboard videos

A whiteboard video is a type of video that essentially looks like someone is writing on a whiteboard. They can be great at explaining things in a simple, visual way. If you’re an animator or well-versed in whiteboard software, this might be a great channel type for you.

39. Art channel

If you’re an artist, art historian, art curator, or other art expert, you might want to create an art channel. You can create videos about how to create art, showcase yourself creating art, or talk about famous pieces of art.

40. Book reviews

Another type of review channel focusing on books, book reviews, and reading challenges can be a great way to build an audience of book lovers.

YouTuber Sara Carrolli has a book-focused channel that has helped her gain over 200,000 subscribers.

41. Bloopers

Bloopers are short clips that typically cover mistakes or mishaps on film and TV sets. This could be actors forgetting their lines, saying the wrong things, improving a funny line, and more. People love bloopers, so creating a channel all about bloopers could be a great way to entertain your audience.

42. Magic tricks

If you’re any good at magic, consider sharing that talent with the world. Create videos to show off your magic tricks and teach others how to do them too.

43. Livestream channel

YouTube offers the option to go live and host a livestream or live broadcast on your channel. You can then turn these videos into regular videos that live on your channel. Consider creating a livestream-focused YouTube channel where you get to record and interact with your audience in real time.

44. Horror/true crime channel

Horror and true crime podcasts have become all the rage — but what about a YouTube channel? Create animated videos of paranormal stories or talk about true crime stories or another type of scary story.

Danielle Kirsty combines her love of makeup and true crime to create videos of her talking about various true crime stories while she puts on makeup. This is a great way to give your viewers something entertaining to watch while you tell a story.

45. Nail art channel

Another great type of beauty/makeup/art channel focuses on nail art. If you’re a nail technician or just like to paint your own nails, consider creating a channel to show off your talents and the different types of nail art you can create.

46. Finance channel

If you’re good with money, share your tips by creating your own finance channel. There are many different types of finance channels you could run — personal finance designed to help individuals budget their money or more professional tips based on your education or training, like stock trading or accounting.

The Money Guy Show is a great example of a finance YouTube channel.

47. Cryptocurrency channel

You could niche down even more into finance and create a channel focused entirely on cryptocurrency. Create videos explaining the different types of cryptocurrency, sites used for trading, how to buy, and other lessons.

48. Drone videos

If you own a drone, you might want to consider using it to create your own drone footage YouTube channel. Drone videos can be fun to watch, and that can help to amass a large following.

49. History channel

Teach your audience history by creating your own historical YouTube channel. Focus on an era that fascinates you. Create animated videos, photo slideshows with voiceover, or use modern footage of the areas you’re covering.

50. Business coaching

If you’ve been successful in business, consider sharing some of your tips with your own YouTube channel. MyWifeQuitHerJob does a great job of sharing how viewers can create side hustles or small businesses to generate even more income.

51. Science channel

Share your love of science via your own YouTube videos. Create science experiments, talk about an area of science that fascinates you, or teach science lessons to kids or adults.

52. Animal videos

Don’t Forget These 3 Things When Choosing Your Travel Channel Name:

It’s not enough to just pick a channel name that sounds cool. Here are 3 things that, in my opinion, you should really consider before committing to a channel name:

  • Niche clarity
  • Longevity and versatility
  • Memorability

Consider Niche Clarity When Choosing Your Channel Name

I divided the list of channel names into niches for a reason—it’s important to make sure that your channel name reflects your niche. Whether your niche is travel vlogging or exploring deep culture behind closed doors, this makes it easier for viewers to understand what type of travel videos they can expect to find on your channel page.

You also don’t want to mislead your potential target audience. If a viewer clicks your YouTube channel named “Budget Travel Bites,” and the top videos are about 5-star restaurants in Hong Kong, it’s unlikely they’ll stick around. If your channel is about great places to eat while traveling, but you want to stay open to all sorts of dining options, then it’s better to opt for something like “Tasty Travels Tales” or “Savory Sojourns TV.”

This leads me to the next point: longevity and versatility.

Choose a Channel Name That Offers Longevity and Versatility

I know I just said to niche down, but you don’t want to niche down so much that it limits any future growth. Avoid limiting your growth by choosing a name that fits your niche but isn’t so specific that you couldn’t pivot later.

If you want your channel to start with city backpacking adventures in Europe but eventually head to other regions, don’t pick “European Backpacking Bumbler” and opt for something like “Global Pack Trekker” instead.

Pick a Memorable Channel Name

This might sound vague, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. Our brains tend to like patterns like alliteration and rhymes, so picking a YouTube channel name that includes one of those can make your name more memorable.

For instance, check out these channel names that use alliteration:

  • Trekker’s Tales

Some examples of successful YouTube channels in the travel niche that use alliteration or rhymes in their names include:

  • Lost LeBlanc
  • Tangerine Travels
  • Nomadic Fanatic

Another way to make sure your channel name stays memorable is to keep it short and snappy. “Travel Fearless Oasis Backpacker” and “Point Intrepid Tourist,” for example, are long, confusing, and difficult to remember.

Travel YouTube Channel Name FAQ

How important is the name of my travel channel.

In short, I’d say it’s pretty important. Here’s why. Your channel name represents your brand, your content, and what viewers can expect to see on your channel. It’s the first impression that viewers get. A well-chosen channel name can improve your searchability, attract the right audience, and help your channel stay memorable to viewers.

Should I Include Travel-Related Keywords in My Channel Name?

It’s always a good idea to work in travel-related keywords if you can, but don’t do it at the expense of keeping the name short, snappy, and memorable. Having keywords can help your channel show up more in search results and increase the likelihood of attracting the right viewers, but they can lead to a long, convoluted channel name if you’re not careful.

For example, “Ultimate Budget Travel Guides” has a lot of great keywords in it, but it’s pretty generic and boring. Definitely not snappy or memorable. “Wanderer’s Wisdom” could be a better choice even though it doesn’t directly use obvious travel keywords.

What Makes a Good Travel Channel Name Stand Out?

A good travel channel name stands out because it is:

  • Memorable and easy to pronounce and spell
  • Unique and distinctive
  • Reflects your niche and content
  • Offers growth and scalability

How Can I Check the Availability of My Channel Name?

Check the availability of your channel name by doing one of the following:

  • A Google search (“channel name” + YouTube)
  • A YouTube search of your channel name
  • Go to namecheckr.com and search for your channel name
