Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. (born 2 November 1974), better known as Nelly, is a Grammy award winning rapper, songwriter and multi-platinum recording artist from St. Louis Missouri, USA.

Originally born in Austin, Texas, Nelly moved to Missouri as a result of his parents’ separation at the age of 7. It was there that he found initial musical success, with the formation of the hip-hop group “St. Lunatics” with his high school friends in 1993.

After achieving moderate local interest with their song “Gimme What U Got” it became apparent to Nelly and the rest of the group, that he was the star of the group, and they encouraged him to push forward with his solo career.

He was finally signed by Universal, despite concerns about his geographical background not being commercially viable, as the majority of well-liked rappers hailed from New York or California at the time.

However Nelly’s debut release Country Grammar in 2000, was fairly successful, with the title track’s popularity helping pull the album to the top of various charts in the US. The album established Nelly’s personal pop-rap style, matched with his southern drawl that made him distinctive in the genre at the time.

Two years later, Nelly released his second full-length album, “Nellyville”, which took the rapper to superstardom. Tracks such as the catchy “Hot In Here” and R&B collaboration jam “Dilemna” with Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland, established Nelly at the top of the charts around the globe, with the album certified as six times platinum and ranked as the fourth best selling rap album of all time.

Suddenly, Nelly and his trademark plaster were everywhere. His third LP, a “dual” album called Sweat, Suit, was a half Rap, half R&B album, Both albums were released simultaneously in 2004, with the latter featuring the hit single “Over and Over” a surprise joint track with country singer Tim McGraw. The album was yet another commercial triumph for the rapper, cementing his place as one of the true icons of the 2000’s.

Alongside his musical career, Nelly became known for his business acumen, during a time when rappers could seemingly release anything! Nelly’s ventures included, collaboration with Nike for a limited edition sneaker, his own brand of energy drink “Pimp Juice” and a women’s clothing range called “Apple Bottoms.” He also made a name for himself in the acting industry, starring in comedy sports movie “The Longest Yard” with comedians Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.

Decent show....Wish he'd SING more as [IMHO] he's a better Blues Singer than rapper. Also, now that he's "middle-aged" (42-45-ish), wish he wouldn't worry so much at..?....I guess I'd say: Trying so hard to be cool! He's NOT 21 anymore AND he's got talent so there's just NO NEED to think he has to prove he's "cool/hip" if that makes sense. IOW, once you've made it big and you're in your mid-forties, I just think you should chill and be yourself and not think you have to compete with the likes of Justin Bieber or other little kids/20-something year olds! Just act your age man and let your talent shine. I REALLY HOPE NELLY READS his reviews because I'm not dissing him (my brother) rather I'm trying to convey the point that when you're in your mid-forties and you try and act like you're 21, it shows; everybody knows it/everybody can tell sadly. Other than that, it was a decent show. Props to him and all other performers that both come to and don't overlook the Permian Basin that has a population of half a million. A native Californian (Los Angeles), of Course Midland Odessa isn't that large to me but at the same time, half a million is a decent amount of people and there are some really decent venues here including the world-renowned Wagner Noel Center which many artists have commented on their Facebook page just how nice it is don't ever overlooked this area as there's a lot of money and people STARVING to go to concerts out here (we WANT MORE THAN UR HISTORICALL SAME OLD CRAP: COUNTRY & MEXICAN...1/2 the population HATES the latter & I do NOT mean that in a racist way but this is AMERICA!!! Our primary language is ENGLISH!!!! THEY DON'T PERFORM ENGLISH SHOWS IN MEXICO SO THEY SHOULD PERFORM ENGLISH SHOWS IN AMERICA! AND IT'S NOT TO SAY THAT I DON'T LIKE SOME SPANISH MUSIC BECAUSE I DO I JUST THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A VARIETY OF MUSIC...NOT JUST these 2 genres (Mexican & Country); we WANT: CURRENT (Key Word!) Pop, Hip Hop/Blues (thnx Nelly, really!), Adult Contemporary (like Christopher Cross came here on Valentine's Night 2014; awesome!), smooth jazz, Stand-Up Comedy (Chris Tucker even came here on a four-city Tour which included: New York, Dallas, Midland, & Los Angeles; that's freakingawesome!!!!), any genre you would find in Dallas or Los Angeles for example! Peace & Love to all people!

Nelly has not had frequent appearances on the charts over the last couple of years yet during his incarnation and first few years he scored chart choppers on both sides of the Atlantic. His set lists are now carefully considered to include some of his very best material along with the crowd pleasing mega hits from the mid 00's.

From the opening intro of 'Party People', Nelly swaggers around the stage and whips the crowd into frenzy. Perhaps the most iconic of all his tracks 'Hot In Herre' of course evokes screams of delight as Nelly commands the audience 'to take off all your clothes'. Yet other tracks such as 'Country Grammar' and 'Ride Wit Me' gain an equally big rap/sing-along. His biggest international hit 'Dilemma' sounds fresh and despite no guest appearance from Kelly Rowland, it is a highlight of the show.

One of the best surprises is a great mix of 'Flap Ya Wings' with Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines'. Nelly has been a consistent hip hop artist with a great selection of commercial successes, an incredibly enjoyable act to see live.

I saw Nelly on the Florida Georgia Line Summer Series tour. I’m not sure how I didn’t get any pictures of Nelly’s performance. I think I was in shock when he first came out. I’m not sure what song he was rapping to but it was awkward. I’ve been so involved with country music the past few years that I’ve forgotten how to appreciate other music genres. But then he broke into his older songs that we all knew and loved. I hadn’t realized Nelly has been around for 15 years. I was 10 when Country Grammar came out then. And he tested us. He wanted to see how many of us had been around since the beginning and my group knew every word of Country Grammar. I have a feeling none of the younger crowd knew what was going on. Nelly had a few humble speeches towards the end of his set. He was so grateful that country music fans accepted the Cruise Remix and made him feel welcome on the tour with Florida Georgia Line and Chris Lane. He also told the crowd to chase their dreams like he had before ending the night with Just A Dream.

The VIP was horrible, the tables were all the way in the back couldn't even see the stage so it kind of sucked to spend that much money on a show yet the people who got in free were right up front to the stage. The servers brought us our bottle but then that was it they were too busy making twerking videos of each other instead of asking if we needed anything, they never came back to our table after bringing us the bottle. It was not a good "vip" experience at all I would of rather saved my money and did the free admission. Nelly was late he came a little after 1am and only performed about four songs but not all the way through, it was more of a night club with the DJ than a performance which sucks because I've been a huge Nelly fan since I was 13 so for 17 years and was looking forward to this show, the overall experience was disappointing.

When Nelly came out, I had to leave. I am a conservative country music fan of Flordia Georgia Line and Nelly's show was the most inappropriate show I have ever seen. I went for Flordia Georgia Line and was excited for Nelly. Sadly, the girls he had dancing were barely dressed and were dancing in a very inappropriate manner. Everything in my soul told me that I needed to leave the show while he preformed. This was a huge let down because I had bought very expensive seats. This was a very disapointing experience for me. I saw mothers with children leaving the same time I left. I would never come see Nelly or a similar artist in Wheatland again. I wish I was notified that Nelly was going to have suggestive and degrading dancers . Please keep your shows for the whole family.

Juvenile didnt make it to the show has apart of the head liner bc he missed connecting flight amd Nelly was late 45 mins coming on stage due to flight delays as well. I know weather happens but it would have been nice to know what was goin on. The venue did not let the concert goers know about the cancellation of Juvenile or that Nelly would be late so I dnt think that was right. But over all Nelly himself did a great job. The crowd was ready for him after listening to the DJ play the same music over 5 hrs. Wish he would have played alittle longer considering how long we waited. Glad Nelly apologized as well bc alot of artists wouldnt have cared they kept fans waiting.

SAVE YOUR MONEY! After 3 hours of watching music videos (don't get me wrong, watching 90s hip hop vids really got us into the mood for Nelly - but 3 hours!?) he finally came on stage at 12:40 am on a Thursday night. To our horror, he didn't sing full songs and his hits were remixed with different background tracks. I would say most people at this concert were in their 30s and 40s (teenagers in the 90s)and came to hear the songs of our glory days. Most also had to work the next day. We left after about 4 songs, the sound was terrible which was surprising because they had over 3 hours to get it right.

Absolutley amazing show , he gave the people what they paid for :) been listening to his music since he started out and still love his music now. The dj's who played before him were entertaining the crowd well before the main event. Would love for him to come back to the uk and tour again as i would go see him again.

OMG absolutely FabUlous. 10/10. Loved the he got the crowd involved. Never seen that before and he seemed very humble. Love that guy. The arena made it quite intermat also the other guys with him were amaaaazing and loved they were recording with other people's phones. Well good.

Multi-Platinum rapper Nelly has announced an epic U.S. tour later in 2021 celebrating the 20th anniversary of his icon album 'Country Grammar' . His Lil Bit of Music concert series kicks off October 8th in Christoval and runs into 2022 hitting cities like Phoenix, Omaha, Bonner Springs, Tupelo, Charleston and Nashville. Joining the tour on select dates will be special guests Blanco Brown , Jimmie Allen , Harper Grace and Dusty Black. Prior to the tour, the singer will be making an appearance at Bonnaroo along with Foo Fighters , Megan Thee Stallion , Run The Jewels , Glass Animals and Young Thug .

Nelly's debut 2000 album 'Country Grammar' was certified Diamond by the RIAA and includes the hit singles 'E.I.' , 'Ride wit Me' , 'Batter Up' and its title track. His latest studio album 'M.O.' dropped back in 2013 and features guest appearances by Nicki Minaj , Pharrell , Future , T.I. , Daley , 2 Chainz , Trey Songz , Fabolous , Wiz Khalifa , Florida Georgia Line and Nelly Furtado . Janet Jackson has upgraded her 2023 “ Together Again ” concert tour by simultaneously announcing the addition of a summer leg and Nelly as a special guest.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will embark on a 35-date run across the United States nearly one year after announcing her highly anticipated return to the road with her ninth concert tour. Produced by Live Nation, the 2023 tour was the highest selling jaunt of Jackson’s career and featured 36 sold out shows.

Janet Jackson Schedules Second Round of ‘Together Again’ Tour Dates for Summer 2024

Last year, Janet Jackson made her grand return to the stage with the Together Again tour after being off the road for four years. And now that she’s been bitten by the performance bug once again, she doesn’t want the fun to end. On Tuesday, the music icon announced the summer 2024 return of her Together Again tour.

Nelly will join Jackson as a special guest on the 35-date run scheduled to kick off on June 4 in Palm Desert. About Nelly

A savvy rapper with crossover appeal, Nelly seemed like a novelty when he debuted with the Top Ten pop hit "Country Grammar (Hot...)" in 2000, but he quickly proved to be a legitimate hitmaker with "Hot in Herre," "Dilemma," and "Shake Ya Tailfeather" -- and those three only account for a fraction of his Hot 100-topping and Grammy-winning hits. These feats built the foundation of a career that boasts six consecutive Top Ten albums, from the diamond Country Grammar (2000) to the platinum 5.0 (2010) and "The Fix" (2015), leading to warmly received collaborations in the 2020s.

His debut album, Country Grammar (2000), featured contributions from the St. Lunatics as well as the Teamsters, Lil Wayne, and Cedric the Entertainer, and thanks to the widespread popularity of lead single "Country Grammar (Hot...)," the album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 album chart, climbing to the top spot soon afterward. In addition to the Top Ten title track, Country Grammar spawned the hit singles "E.I.," "Ride wit Me," and "Batter Up." In the wake of Nelly's remarkable breakthrough success, he recorded a group album with the St. Lunatics, Free City (2001). Released by Universal, the album also charted in the Top Ten and spawned a moderate hit, "Midwest Swing," which cracked the Billboard Hot 100.

The following summer Nelly returned with his second album, Nellyville (2002), and lived up to his self-proclaimed billing as "#1" (i.e., the title of his 2001 hit from the Training Day soundtrack): Nellyville topped the Billboard album chart, while the Neptunes-produced lead single, "Hot in Herre," remained atop the singles chart. In all, Nelly impressively held the number one spot on ten different Billboard charts the week of Nellyville's release, and he remained a chart presence as he released a string of follow-up singles: "Dilemma" (a chart-topper featuring Kelly Rowland), "Air Force Ones" (a Top Three hit), "Work It" (featuring Justin Timberlake), and "Pimp Juice." "Hot in Herre" and "Dilemma" each won Grammy awards -- the former for Best Male Rap Solo Performance, and the latter for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Even after Nellyville ran its course commercially, Nelly's hit streak continued unabated, with "Iz U" (from his stopgap remix album Derrty Versions [2003]) and another Grammy winner, "Shake Ya Tailfeather" (from the Bad Boys II [2003] soundtrack), keeping him in the spotlight while he readied his separately released double-disc Sweatsuit (2004) project (following the lead of OutKast and R. Kelly, who had both recently released very successful two-disc sets). Sweat and Suit were led by a pair of red-hot singles -- "Flap Your Wings" (a club jam) and "My Place" (a slow jam) -- and debuted at the top two spots on the Billboard 200 album chart. Follow-up singles included "Tilt Ya Head Back" (featuring Christina Aguilera), "Over and Over" (Tim McGraw), "Na-Na-Na-Na" (Jazze Pha), and "N Dey Say." Sweat and Suit were later bundled as Sweatsuit (2005), along with the new song "Grillz," itself a number one hit.

The time between the release of Sweat and Suit and that of Brass Knuckles (2008) was the longest Nelly went between albums to date, though he did collaborate frequently (with Ashanti, R. Kelly, and T.I., to name a few) during the intervening period and built his acting résumé. The star-studded 5.0 (2010) featured the singles "Just a Dream" (produced by Jim Jonsin) and "Move That Body" (produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, featuring Akon and T-Pain). M.O. (2013), issued three years later, featured numerous tracks with Pharrell, plus Nicki Minaj and NellyFurtado as guest stars. Nellyville, a BET reality series, started airing in November 2014. "The Fix," featuring Jeremih, arrived the following year and was his 27th single to appear on the Hot 100. After a 2018 track with Jaquees, "Freaky with You," Nelly retreated a bit but returned in 2020 with a slew of collaborations with such country artists as Jimmie Allen, Florida Georgia Line, and Kane Brown. This was the prelude to Heartland, a 2021 album that blended country-pop and rap. Along with the 2022 compilation album Still Hot in Herre, Nelly teamed up with country singer Chris Lane for the single "Birthday Girl.

Nelly Korda leads Americans to record-setting 6-2 margin on first day of Solheim Cup

GAINESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Nelly Korda danced at the urging of teammate Megan Khang as they walked off the first tee together at the Solheim Cup after a pep talk from former President Barack Obama. Then she let Khang raise her arms to pump up the crowd as they walked to the 12th green following another sterling shot from the world's top-ranked player.

Korda has never won a Solheim Cup in three tries, but she put the United States in a strong position to end that drought by winning the leadoff match of each session Friday while helping the Americans to a 6-2 lead over Europe at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.

A Solheim Cup that began with an unforced error by organizers, who didn't have enough shuttle buses to transport fans to the course in the early morning hours, continued with the largest lead by either team after one day. The U.S. also led 6-2 in the inaugural event in 1990, when the first eight matches were played over two days.

In her better-ball match with Khang, Korda played 14 holes in 8 under and made two eagles on the back nine, the first after her 5-iron approach on the 480-yard, par-5 12th settled 2 feet away. Europe's Georgia Hall conceded that putt, and Korda holed a 10-footer for eagle on No. 14 to close out a 6-and-4 victory over Hall and Leona Maguire.

A six-time winner on the LPGA Tour this year, including her second major championship, Korda came into the Solheim Cup with a 7-4-1 record. But Europe captured the trophy each time, winning in 2019 in Scotland and 2021 in Ohio before retaining the Cup last year with a draw in Spain. Neither side has captured the Cup four times in a row.

Korda can't win it on her own — the U.S. needs 14 1/2 points over three days — but she's certainly a key figure for captain Stacy Lewis on a PGA TOUR-tested course that favors power and appears to suit her eye. Korda won 16 holes in her matches, the most by one Solheim Cup player in a single day since 2015.

She knew she could play aggressively with the accurate Khang as her partner.

“When you have a teammate who’s so pure off the tee, you never have to worry," Korda said. "You just kind of send it/ So that was kind of the motto, is I was going to go first and send it.”

Lewis also got strong contributions from her two rookies, sending Lauren Coughlin and Sarah Schmelzel out for both sessions and watching them win three points. Coughlin and Rose Zhang beat Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela 3 and 2 in alternate shot, while Schmelzel and Lilia Vu topped Linn Grant and Carlota Ciganda by the same score. The rookies paired up for better ball and beat Emily Pedersen and Maja Stark 3 and 2.

Zhang, winless in her debut last year, went 2-0 on Friday. She teamed in the afternoon with Andrea Lee, whose approach on the 14th grazed the cup — just missing an albatross — to close a 5-and-4 win over Grant and Charley Hull.

Meanwhile, European captain Suzann Pettersen got nothing from her best two players. Boutier, the top-ranked European at No. 10 in the world, was rested after her morning loss, and No. 12 Hull went 0-2.

The matches began quietly under overcast skies, with half-empty grandstands surrounding the first tee when Europe's Esther Henseleit struck the opening tee shot at 7:05 a.m. Fans complained they were stuck for hours with no access to restrooms while waiting for bus rides to the sprawling property about 40 miles west of Washington, D.C., prompting an apology from the LPGA.

Teamed with Allisen Corpuz in the opening alternate-shot match, Korda was steady on the back nine while German rookie and Olympic silver medalist Henseleit faltered. The Americans won the 14th and 15th holes with pars and then closed out Henseleit and Hull 3 and 2 when Korda hit her approach to 5 feet on the par-3 16th.

Korda and Corpuz became the first American duo to win three straight alternate-shot matches after they went 2-0 in the format last year in Spain.

The grandstands were full when the afternoon matches began, and the crowds tried in vain to urge on Lexi Thompson in what's likely her final Solheim Cup as a player. Thompson and Alison Lee lost their better-ball match 6 and 5 to the Swedish duo of Anna Nordqvist and Madelene Sagstrom, who wore matching bucket hats and had Sagstrom’s new husband, Jack Clarke, carrying Nordqvist’s bag.

Nordqvist, an assistant captain for Europe who is playing in her ninth Solheim Cup, made six birdies through 13 holes as the pair never trailed.

“I feel like I’ve been the wedding crasher lately. I crashed her wedding last week, and this week I’m crashing her and my caddie Jack’s honeymoon,” Nordqvist said. “We just had a lot of fun out there together.”

Fact or Fiction: A New Solheim Cup Win Streak Starts Now for the U.S.

Welcome back to SI Golf’s Fact or Fiction, where we want to include some alternate shot matches with friends this fall. And hope they're still our friends after.

Once again, we’re here to debate a series of statements for writers and editors to declare as “Fact” or “Fiction” along with a brief explanation. Responses may also (occasionally) be “Neutral” since there's a lot of gray area in golf.

The United States snapped its seven-year Solheim Cup drought with a win on home soil. And given its top-ranked standouts (Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, Rose Zhang) and new stars (Lauren Coughlin), a run of U.S. wins appears likely.

Bob Harig: FICTION . A lot can change in two years—both ways. As strong as the U.S. team looks today, form is not guaranteed and the event is always more competitive given the format and the randomness of match play.

John Pluym: FACT . There’s nothing more important than an abundance of talent and the U.S. team has it. Really, there should be no excuse for this group of players not to dominate this event over the next few years.

Jeff Ritter: FICTION . That was a great win for the U.S. and much-needed given the Europeans’ recent run of Solheim success. I love the shape of the U.S. roster, but as we know road games present an entirely different challenge in these team events. The U.S. should have an advantage on paper for the foreseeable future, but let’s see them win two in a row before we call it a dynasty. 

John Schwarb: FACT . These team competitions have become so partisan that win streaks are dangerous to predict until one road win is in the can, but there’s more talent on the U.S. side right now and this was a cathartic win.

LIV Golf reported that Saturday’s crowd in Chicago was its best yet for a stateside event with more than 15,000. While its TV ratings remain low, LIV can survive and thrive as a you-have-to-be-there league.

Bob Harig: FICTION . In-person attendance is just one part of the overall package and getting more people on site will continue to be important. But after three years LIV Golf still has no significant sponsorship revenue and is said to be moving on from its deal with the CW Network in the U.S.  LIV has found success internationally and will see more events outside of America next year, but it still needs to gain more widespread traction. Even the biggest of crowds does not come close to paying all the bills when a $25 million purse is being offered.

John Pluym: FACT . LIV reminds me of when the USFL first launched in 1983. You had a few well-known players such as Herschel Walker, Anthony Carter, Jim Kelly and Steve Young. Yes, the league folded after three seasons. I can see the same timeline with LIV. And, hopefully, after three seasons, we have a merger with the PGA Tour. And the one thing LIV has that the USFL didn’t? Money. 

Jeff Ritter: FACT . LIV can survive as long as its backers are willing to continue funding it. It may never be profitable, but even as a niche within a niche sport, it’s doing enough (and poaching enough top players) to remain afloat for as long as it wants to be.

John Schwarb: FACT . LIV Golf increasingly reminds me of IndyCar racing, which continues to exist in relative obscurity with meager TV ratings but seems to be a very good in-person product. Why can’t LIV be the same? They’re not running out of money anytime soon.  

Max Homa missed the cut by two shots in Napa, at a course where he won in 2021 and ’22, continuing his struggles this season. Captain Jim Furyk may want to use him sparingly in the Presidents Cup. 

Bob Harig: FACT . There are not as many opportunities to sit a player at the Presidents Cup as there are at the Ryder Cup (only two players sit out the first two sessions compared to four at the Ryder Cup) but Homa will certainly be a candidate given his recent struggles. He might be best served playing four-ball, so as not to put him through the stress of alternate shot.

John Pluym: FACT . He’s not playing well, so Furyk should not put him out there. If the object is to win, why would a team captain put a player on the golf course who is struggling to keep his ball in play? Seems like an easy decision for Furyk.

Jeff Ritter: FICTION . Homa has a solid team-event track record, so Furyk should just get Homa out there on Day 1 and see if he has his game together. If he’s off, go ahead and sit him down. But if it resumes his role of team-golf world-beater, obviously now you get to ride the wave.

John Schwarb: FACT . Homa has been a standout in team events, hence his spot here despite being 12th in points. But playing someone in alternate shot who is in poor form doesn’t seem ideal.

In the wake of the mess around fans trying to arrive at the course Friday morning at the Solheim Cup, Golfweek’s Beth Ann Nichols wrote that the LPGA wasn’t ready for prime time, also calling out the league for not better capitalizing on Nelly Korda’s record streak earlier this season. In a time where women’s sports are on an upswing, the LPGA isn’t keeping pace.

Bob Harig: FACT . Given the success of women’s college basketball, the new interest in the WNBA and women’s soccer, it is odd how the LPGA has struggled—especially when you consider it is a long-established circuit with considerable history. The Solheim Cup problems seem a separate issue but are no less frustrating. A similar situation played out last year in Spain and it absolutely should have been front of mind.

John Pluym: FACT . Take care of your players and take care of your fans. If you struggle with either of those, you’re going to be in trouble. The LPGA has an excellent opportunity to capitalize on its star players and should make every effort to promote them. Anything less is inexcusable.

Jeff Ritter: FACT . The WNBA surge exemplifies the contrast with the LPGA. As Nichols wrote, Nelly’s run is exactly what the Tour has been waiting for—she’s essentially golf’s Caitlin Clark, so why isn’t she more of a mainstream star? Agree with Bob that the Solheim transportation issues are separate, but those were another example of women’s pro golf struggling for its footing. The focus should’ve been on what turned out to be another excellent team competition, but the buses distracted from it.

John Schwarb: NEUTRAL . I can’t flog the LPGA for a lack of publicity around Nelly Korda, she’s fairly private but also had her moments like when she attended the Met Gala and hit the fashion pages. (And let's not forget that her run was also in March and April when Caitlin Clark and undefeated South Carolina were on a collision course to the NCAA title game.) But not being ready with enough shuttle buses for your biggest event and one that is here only every four years is inexcusable. Rule No. 1 is to take care of your fans first.

Dame Laura Davies believes a major breakthrough for Charley Hull "has to happen" after her impressive Solheim Cup performance and dominant victory over world No 1 Nelly Korda.

The Englishwoman partnered rookie Esther Henseleit to a final-hole victory in the Saturday foursomes and also teamed up with close friend Georgia Hall that day to win her fourballs match, reducing Europe's deficit to 10-6 heading into the Sunday singles.

Hull demolished Korda 6&4 in the top match to give Suzann Pettersen's side a dream start to the final day, where Europe threatened a historic victory before Team USA held on for a 15.5-12.5 win and first Solheim Cup success since 2017.

The world No 12 finished as Europe's top scorer with three points from five matches and Davies, who served as vice-captain, was impressed with Hull's display, believing she has the game to challenge for major success in the years ahead.

"I can't believe she's not already [a major champion], as she's so talented," Davies told Sky Sports News . "It's not easy to win major championships, we all know that, but that's what we'd hope for her because she's that good.

"She just needs to win more tournaments and get herself into contention more. I know she's up there a fair bit and she has lots of close calls in majors, the US Women's Open and the AIG Women's Open last year, but you feel it has to happen at some point.

"She has been superb this week. She turned up, she has been great fun and has been keeping us all entertained, but then she produced on the course as well - you can't ask for more as a team-mate than that.

"We knew Nelly was going as No 1 and we had no qualms about putting Charley out first. You can't intimidate Nelly as world No 1, but we thought she was the one who could put a little bit of pressure on she didn't want.

"Charley did that. Her shot making was superb and the way she finished off her match at the 14th was just magnificent."

Davies: Europe scared USA!

Europe lost both sessions on the opening day and remained four behind heading into the Sunday singles, where they won five and halved three of their matches but fell narrowly short in their bid to retain the trophy for a fourth consecutive time.

"I think it was a tale of two halves," Davies added. "We got off to such a poor start again, 6-2 down, so then we had to tailor our pairings to that scoreline.

"We were behind but then what a comeback in the singles, where the girls showed how good they are. For the most part there, we were right there, then Lilia Vu put the final nail in our coffin with the long putt on 17 and hitting it so close on 18.

"We scared them and that's all we wanted to do. We knew it was a hard task, but for a good half hour, 45 minutes out there with Linn [Grant]'s group I was thinking 'if Linn wins we could win this'.

"Their [United States] general play was absolutely superb. The fact we were trying to catch up those four points from Friday and we got as close as we did, considering how well they were playing, just showed how well we played as well. Hats off to them, they deserved it."

Who will be Europe's next captain?

Davies has once again ruled herself out of consideration to be Europe's next captain, while Pettersen said that was "the end of my term as far as I know" in her press conference after defeat on Sunday.

Pettersen was a back-to-back captain, following on from Catriona Matthew holding the role for successive victories in 2019 and 2021, with Davies backing Mel Reid and Anna Nordqvist - both vice-captains this time around - as potential contenders for the 2026 contest.

"I genuinely don't know, but if I was putting a couple of names forward then they would certainly be the two," Davies added. "They've both seen how Suzann does it and you can pick up a lot from your past captains.

"Anna's so good still and Mel's not playing her best at the moment but could easily turn it around and become a player, although I think if they commit to being captain then I don't think you can ever be a playing captain.

"I know Keegan Bradley wants to have a go with the Ryder Cup but that would be a tough task. They would have to give up on their dreams of playing again, but we'll see who comes out."
