With a history dating as far back as the Iron Age, the Devils Dyke, a 100m deep valley is an area of outstanding beauty in West Sussex.
Legend has it that the Devil himself crafted the Dyke with no more than a pickaxe! Fast forward to the 19th century, Devil’s Dyke became a play area and fairground destination to the Victorians in their hordes.
It is from this era that we have drawn inspiration for the botanicals and perfected our own craft to present you with this beautiful artisan gin. Distilled with classic dry and specially foraged botanicals found on the Devil’s Dyke and around West Sussex, including victoria plums, milk thistle and black elderberry.

Pure Sussex Gin - 40% ABV (70cl) - TRIPLE AWARD WINNING GIN
Award-winning pure sussex gin.
We produce our neutral alcohol using locally sourced water from an aquifer in the South Downs. This is unusual nowadays as it is a time consuming process however, it allows us to ensure that the quality of water used in every single bottle is some of the purest and highest quality you can find. Creating a unique, class-act gin is all about getting the balance of flavour right from the initial taste to the last. We call the taste of Pure Sussex a flavour journey. This journey starts with one flavour and travels through all of the botanicals until the last one. We use 15 botanicals in total from a base of juniper through to frankincense and a flower that can be found growing on the South Downs. We produce our gin in its entirety, from initial fermentation to the final gin distillation. Your flavour journey will be juniper forward, as all gins should be! Pure Sussex is warming, well balanced and easy to drink and will compliment any gin shelf.
IWSC Tasting Notes
A heavy and characterful base spirit that is fruity with bready, rye notes.
Flavours of citrus add zestiness and oiliness to the palate, followed by gentle floral notes.

What People Are Saying
Wonderfully floral and perfumed.
"Wonderfully Floral and perfumed, revealing honeysuckle, orchard fruit, vanilla cream and a touch of black pepper."
Great Taste Award 3 stars for our grape spirit
“This is rather exceptional - there's a beautiful creaminess to this Eau de vie. It carries its alcohol so lightly, it's positively dangerous. Raisin notes are prominent and give just a touch of sweetness to this sublime drink Aromas of dark honey and raisins on the nose. The playful flavour was surprisingly delicate and gave a long, satisfying finish. Very sophisticated.”

The Spirit of Sussex
Born by the banks of the river Arun during a glorious Sussex summer our alchemists were inspired by Arundel's rich history to create a premium gin befitting such a beautiful town
Our signature blend of eight classic botanicals is combined with crystal-clear water from the South Downs to create a gin that bursts with citrus aromas and the taste of a glorious Sussex summer
Using the flesh, not the peel, of only the ripest fruits gives Arundel Gin its unmistakeably refreshing taste On the palate vibrant citrus stars, before giving way to classic juniper, all perfectly balanced by the natural sweetness of orange and almond Both lead to an unmistakeably smooth finish that makes Arundel Gin the perfect choice when served generously over ice with premium tonic
Arundel Gin is the creation of husband and wife team Ed & Kay Coppard
Both grew up in Sussex, but chose Arundel as the perfect place to spend time getting to know each other after meeting in 2011
So special did Arundel become that Ed popped the question in town one sunny spring day in May 2012
Now living locally with their twin baby girls, you'll often find the family out and about the town introducing them to all the local sights and sounds
It was while enjoying a picnic by the banks of the river Arun one sunny August bank holiday weekend that they became inspired to try and capture the feeling and taste of what makes for a glorious Sussex summer
And so, Arundel Gin was born

Meghan Markle Says Daughter Princess Lilibet, 3, Has 'Found Her Voice’
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex finished their four-day visit to Colombia on Aug. 18
Andres Castilla/Flikr
- Meghan Markle spoke about how her daughter Princess Lilibet, 3, has "found her voice" during the final day of her visit to Colombia with Prince Harry on Aug. 18
- Meghan made the comments at an Afro Women and Power event in Cali
- "I’m very, very fortunate at a young age I was able to feel as though my voice was being heard," Meghan said at the summit
Princess Lilibet has already "found her voice."
Speaking at an Afro Women and Power event in Cali, Colombia on Aug. 18, Meghan Markle said that she has been helping her 3-year-old daughter to speak up in the same way that she was helped by her own mother, Doria Ragland .
"I find inspiration in so many of the strong women that are around me, of course, my mother being one of them," she said.
"So much of how I approach things is through the lens of less about the fight — that's not interesting to me — and more about how do we show up in a space and wash things over with love and kindness and generosity," Meghan, 43, added on the final day of her four-day trip to Colombia with Prince Harry . Lili and her brother Prince Archie , 5, didn't join their parents on the visit.
She continued by speaking about the importance of the representation of women in positions of power so that others can realize their ability to "change the world" in large and small ways.
"Part of the role modeling that I certainly try to do as a mother is to encourage our daughter — who, at 3, she has found her voice," Meghan said with a laugh. "And we're so proud of that because that is how we, as I was saying, create the conditions in which there's a ripple effect of young girls and young women knowing that if someone else is encouraging them to use their voice and be heard, that's what they're going to do. And they're going to create a different environment than so many of us grew up in."

Meghan, who was on the panel alongside Colombian Vice President Francia Marquez, who invited the couple to the country , began her remarks in Spanish .
"Because we are in your country my husband and I can feel this embrace from Colombia — it’s incredible," Meghan reportedly said. “The culture, the history — all of it was a dream — this trip was a dream. I can feel this community and this is the feeling that is the best thing right now.”
The Duchess of Sussex added that ensuring women and girls are heard, respected and recognized throughout all facets of life is a key belief behind the Archewell Foundation she founded with Prince Harry, 39, shortly after they relocated to California in July 2020 after stepping back as working members of the royal family.
"I was very, very fortunate at a young age to feel as though my voice was being heard, and I think that is a luxury that a lot of young girls and women aren't often afforded," she said.
"For us and the work that we do with the Archewell Foundation, certainly the work that we do as parents and that I do as a mother, is ensuring that young girls feel as though their voices are being heard and also that young boys are being raised to listen and to hear those young women as well," Meghan said, adding, "As my husband is great testament to, the role of men in this...is key."

The couple kept thoughts of their two children close during their four days in the South American country. When they visited Escuela Tambores de Cabildo , a local drum school in Cartagena, on Aug. 17, Meghan wore her "Imperial Disc Pendant" by Ariel Gordon Jewelry, which is personalized with "Archie" and "Lilibet."
Meghan also brought up their son during a visit to a kindergarten class on Aug. 16. Speaking Spanish, she told one student, "You’re the same age as my son, Archie!"

The Afro Women and Power" forum served as an opportunity to highlight leading Afro-Colombian women leaders and entrepreneurs in the Cali region. The program began with testimonials from local women leaders who spoke about how they have overcome adversity as Black women in Colombia and in the workforce.
Afro-Colombian musicians Nidia Gongora and Cynthia Montano also performed during the event — as Meghan and the vice president joined in with some dancing.
There was more dancing later in the day when Harry and Meghan met up with young people from the city at the Unidad Recreativa El Vallado.
Encouraged to join in by students, the couple got up to dance after they’d watched some salsa and hip-hop performances.

The group told the couple how music and dancing have helped keep them focused on their mental health and out of trouble in their wider lives.
Prince Harry told the young people, “I hope you all know how much your actions mean to the people and children within your communities. The path that you have chosen will make a difference that will inspire and create change for hundreds or even thousands of young people.”
Meghan was asked if she had tried “viche," a sweet liquor local to Colombia. She replied, "Yes, it’s very good!” in Spanish.
Meghan also congratulated the students on prioritizing art as a way to better balance their mental health, saying that she was “so, so proud of them.”
As they wound up their four-day tour, the couple was given a bottle of viche to take home.
"Your country is so beautiful!” the Duchess of Sussex, who translated for her husband when he wanted to address the audience, told the crowd at the Petronio Alvarez Pacific Music Festival in Cali. The gathering is the world’s biggest celebration and display of Afro-Colombian music in the world.
As they left the stage, Meghan and Prince Harry hugged the members of the children’s choir who had been onstage with them to say goodbye.

Prince Harry: 'There was an unravelling' after tour of Afghanistan
Speaking in his Heart of Invictus Netflix series, the Duke of Sussex said "no one around me could really help".

The Duke of Sussex has told of an "unravelling" after he returned from his tour of Afghanistan that triggered the "trauma" of losing his mother aged 12.
In his Heart of Invictus docuseries released on Netflix on Wednesday, Harry said his "biggest struggle" was "no one around me could really help".
"I didn't have that support structure, that network or that expert advice to identify actually what was going on with me," he said.
"Unfortunately, like most of us, the first time you really consider therapy is when you are lying on the floor in the foetal position probably wishing you had dealt with some of this stuff previously."
The duke, an Army veteran who undertook two tours of Afghanistan, said mental illness was a "dirty word" when he first joined the military and added he wants to cure the "stigma" within society.
"Look, I can only speak for my personal experience, my tour of Afghanistan in 2012 flying Apaches, somewhere after that there was an unravelling and the trigger for me was actually returning from Afghanistan," he said.
"But the stuff that was coming up was from 1997, from the age of 12, losing my mum at such a young age, the trauma that I had I was never really aware of, it was never discussed.

"I didn't really talk about it - and I suppressed it like most youngsters would have done - but when it all came fizzing out I was bouncing off the walls, I was like 'what is going on here?', I am now feeling everything as opposed to being numb."
Surprise appearance to launch series
The five-part docuseries project, which has been more than two years in the making, follows Invictus competitors from around the world as they prepare for the tournament, which was founded by Harry.
He made a surprise appearance to introduce the series during a special screening in California and is heard talking to the audience about the sacrifices that veterans and their families make while serving their country, in a video circulating on social media.
New Harry Netflix show a very different watch
Royal correspondent
I know what you're thinking - Prince Harry on Netflix, here we go again.
But this is a very different watch.
This isn't Harry on the Royal Family, or his crusade against the media. This is Harry on Invictus, a cause he cares about, and seems much more comfortable talking about.
There's an interesting question in the first episode when Harry is asked: "What do you do?"
A long pause follows, because we all know Harry's been busy. From explosive interviews to his anguished memoir, and more recently his appearance at the High Court.
Harry replies: "There's a lot of hats one wears but today is all about Invictus."
And that's what this series really is about. Stories of service men and women, surviving and dealing with physical and mental injury. Their journeys helped and shaped by taking part in the Invictus Games.
We learn how this is a deeply personal project, stemming from his experiences in the army. How his time in Afghanistan triggered an "unravelling", and brought back the trauma of losing his mother.
Harry isn't the star of this show, it's the veterans. But the Duke of Sussex and his name are clearly driving the Invictus work.
Harry fans will love it, as might those who loved 'working royal' Harry.
It does feel like a positive step forward for Harry, after a year which has produced much negativity.
Even Harry's critics would agree, Invictus is a success story.
And if Harry is attempting to rebuild his brand, this show and the upcoming games in Dusseldorf are the perfect springboard.
This is also one Prince Harry programme the Royal Family, holidaying at Balmoral, could probably bear to watch.
In the opening episode, he says: "I’m Harry, a dad of two... couple of dogs, husband... there's lots of hats one wears but today is all about Invictus."
The duke, who is father to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, also talks about never wanting to serve in the armed forces as a father.
"I've always had myself down as the dad that I could never be serving whilst having kids," he said.
The duke was executive producer of the series, which forms part of his and his wife's multimillion-pound deal with Netflix, and follows last year's controversial Harry & Meghan documentary .
Heart of Invictus has been released in the run-up to next month's Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany, which the couple are both set to attend.

'My emotions were sprayed all over the wall'
In one clip from the series, while speaking to team Canada's Invictus athlete Darrell Ling about the "demons" on the rower's shoulder, Harry returns to the death of Princess Diana.
"I had no emotion, I was unable to cry, I was unable to feel," he said.
"I didn't know it at the time. It wasn't until later in my life, aged 28 - there was a circumstance that happened - that the first few bubbles started coming out and then suddenly someone shook it and it was... chaos.
"My emotions were sprayed all over the wall, everywhere I went.
"How the hell do I contain this? I've gone from nothing to everything.
"I now need to get a glass jar and put myself in it, leave the lid open and my therapist said 'you choose what comes in and everything else bounces off'."
