URBAN MEETS EPIC

Alaska’s biggest city, Anchorage, is set between the sparkling waters of Cook Inlet and the dramatic snow-capped Chugach Mountains. Few places in the world can match its appealing blend of metropolitan pursuits and outdoor living. Anchorage is at its most exuberant during the summer, when locals make the most of the mild temperatures and long days to stay out late into the sunny night. The big city also boasts Alaska’s biggest and most diverse dining scene, from great burger joints and craft breweries to classic steakhouses and cosmopolitan cuisine.

Denali National Park remains a wild kingdom, where animals large and small, roam free. View Dall sheep, wolves, caribou, moose and the mighty grizzly bear among many others. CITY OF GOLD AT THE EDGE OF THE ARCTIC

Back in 1901, riverboat captain E.T. Barnette ran aground in the shallows of the Chena, so he set up a trading post. A year later, the nearby discovery of gold transformed the remote settlement into a boom-town, and Barnette was the first mayor. Fairbanks today remains a destination for adventure seekers, as the gateway to Alaska’s northern wilds and some its most isolated terrain. While home to just 32,000, Fairbanks is the big city of the interior and cultural hub for the sparsely populated region. You can still go for the gold in Fairbanks, panning just like the early prospectors did.

    Alaska Cruise & Land Tour

Continuing from Alaska with Princess Cruises

During the 7-day roundtrip Alaska voyage on Crown Princess, we would disembark at different ports of call to explore the place on our own or join the pre-booked shore excursions.

Crown Princess departed from Seattle in the afternoon and sailed for two days before arriving into Juneau, Alaska. The ship continued northbound to Skagway, the “sunshine” capital of southeast Alaska where it was a bustling town for gold miners in the 19 th century.

The fifth day of sailing brought us back to the Ice Age – we were navigated into Glacier Bay National Park for a day of scenic cruising. Overnight, the ship cruised through the passage and approached Ketchikan, the charming waterfront town also known as the salmon capital of the world.

On the last leg of the voyage, Crown Princess sailed along the Canadian Coastline and docked at the port of Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, Canada in the evening so we had a couple of hours to explore the picturesque port city. The ship returned to Seattle the very next day in the morning hours.

Ports: Seattle – Juneau – Skagway – Glacier Bay – Ketchikan – Victoria – Seattle

is the only U.S capital accessible by boat or plane! Some of the main attractions of Juneau are the Mendenhall Glacier, whale watching and spawning salmon.

We were on a shore excursion for whale watching and to visit Mendenhall Glacier. The coach took us to Auke Bay where we boarded a catamaran and sailed through the passage while soaking in the spectacular views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers. The onboard naturalist would give commentary on the areas and spot the whales. Humpbacks and orcas are very common sightings in the waters of the Inside Passage, and we actually spotted a few whales on the cruise.

We left the seats and got out to the deck, balancing ourselves on the bumpy ride while keeping our eyes peeled and holding on to the camera waiting for the whale to breach the surface. We were told that these gorgeous creatures spend the summer months in the Alaskan waters and later head back to Hawaii and Maui during the mating season.

Though we didn’t manage to see any whale leaping high up into the air for that Nat Geo moment, we spotted a couple of whales surfacing and spouting, showing off their massive tails before disappearing into the depth. It was a memorable whale watching experience in Alaska.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After whale watching, the coach took us to the famous Mendenhall Glacier that dates back to the Little Ice Age. From across the lake with floating icebergs, we could see the massive face of the Mendenhall Glacier, which is believed to be retreating and shrinking due to climate change.

Crown Princess docked within walking distance of downtown Skagway so it was easy for everyone onboard to get off the ship to visit the historic town for local food and souvenirs. There is even a brothel where you can see ladies dressed in traditional costumes waving at people on the street.

Skagway Old Town, which is within walking distance from the pier.

We joined the shore excursion for a roundtrip to White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad. The coach stopped over at Carcross, Canada, home to the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. We walked around the community area where there are stores and galleries, and relics of the past during the gold rush era for photo opportunities. You can even get a Carcross stamp on your passport here.

    carcross-skagway

In less than an hour’s time, we boarded the vintage train and rode into the remote wilderness to Lake Bennett. There was a short layover at Bennett where passengers could visit the White Pass museum and explore the historic gold rush town. We had to re-board the train to continue the journey on Yukon Route Railroad.

    white-pass-yukon-route-railroad

It was a scenic journey by coach and vintage train into the enchanting wilderness of the Canadian border. We were given a yummy lunch pack during the train ride so it was pretty enjoyable to tuck in as the crew provided commentary of the passing scenery.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Don’t miss the ship! At the end of the shore excursion, we made our way back to Crown Princess in the evening.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

    Glacier Bay

The ship glided through Glacier Bay National Park and brought us back to the Ice Age! A small team of park rangers came onboard to offer narration and shared knowledge about the spectacular tidewater glaciers and wildlife, such as the humpback whales. It was so pristine and untouched; of course, there are no roads to Glacier Bay. To protect the park, only two cruise ships may enter each day.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

According to scientists, most of the glaciers in Alaska are retreating, stagnant or thinning due to climate change. Glacier Bay is a rarity to have a few healthy and advancing glaciers, thanks to the heavy snowfall in the mountains.

Everyone was very excited on the open decks, all trigger-ready to take the best shots of massive glaciers with icebergs floating around, and hoping to see ice calving and hear them ‘pop’ as chunks of ice broke off from the face of the glacier and splashed into the water.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Margerie Glacier is perhaps the most photographed tidewater glacier of the bay. We were lucky to be treated with ice calving of the glacier. It was amazing to witness the natural phenomenon right before the eyes and hear the loud cracking sound of the calving.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We were given a Glacier Bay map that includes information on tidewater glaciers, whales, flora and fauna in the bay. There was a presentation by a park ranger at the theater and audience can ask questions about the national park.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This charming port city is the “Salmon Capital of the World” as it’s renowned for its thriving salmon fishery. A short walk from the ship will take you to lovely waterfront town for sightseeing and shopping for canned or vacuum-packed salmon to bring home. If lucky, you can even see salmon spawning in the river.

    ketchikan-historic-town-alaska

We went for the shore excursion to visit Totem Bight State Park, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ketchikan. It is a leisure walk along the rainforest trails to an old native campsite with colourful poles, before entering the totem park where the Saxman’s Beaver Clan tribal house, believed to be the world’s largest, is located.

    totem-bight-state-park-ketchikan

The main features of the park are the intricately carved and painted totem poles erected by the native Tlingit and Haida Indian cultures. In fact, Ketchikan has the largest collection of totem poles in the world. The totem poles are a representation of Alaskan native art.

    totem-poles-ketchikan-alaska

We entered into this souvenir store that has so many wildlife decors around, such as moose head, polar bear, walrus, deer and more; it’s quite an eye-opener for city people like us.

    moosehead-alaska

Besides being the salmon capital of the world, gold and copper were discovered in the surrounding mountains, and thereafter, Ketchikan flourished as the supply center. The timber industry took off and now there are such attractions like the 1-hour long Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show presenting Ketchikan’s pioneer beginnings, with the Alaskan lumberjacks versus Canadian lumberjacks in fun-filled competitions like chopping, sawing, axe throwing, log rolling and so on, plus lot of interactions and cheering from the crowd.

    Victoria, B.C

Before returning to Seattle, Crown Princess sailed along the Canadian coastline en route to Victoria in the evening. Victoria is said to be the oldest, most “British” city in western Canada, with British colonial style architectural landmarks and Victorian mansions.

    canada-victoria-bc

From the pier, take a shuttle bus for a 7-minute ride or a 30-minute walk to downtown Victoria. We only had a couple of hours to roam around in the area so we headed to the inner harbour where thousands of lightbulbs adorned the legislative buildings and walkways, casting a magical glow in the coming of night.

    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The downtown was thronged with tourists browsing through souvenir shops where you can find everything Canadian such as pure maple syrup, maple cookies and fashion retailers. For the sweet tooth, there are confectionaries selling chocolate candies and delights.

In just 7 days, from the vintage train ride along the picturesque White Pass summit & Yukon route, to whale-watching and scenic cruising at Glacier Bay, the mouth-watering food and fun-filled entertainments onboard, all summed up – a memorable cruise of a lifetime. Till next time. I look forward to our next cruise vacation.

Hi, I’m from KL and am keen on this Princess cruise. I generally read that Princess cruises are the best in Alaska. And your write-up sort of convinces me more.

Was this booked online (which website) or thru a travel agent? Or was this sponsored by Princess?

In Malaysia, most travel agents I have met are either RCCL or NCL cruises. Tks for your time

You can soon cruise directly from Singapore to Alaska on a 29-day luxury voyage

This new voyage from Princess Cruises will stop over at ports in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, before making its way to Anchorage in Alaska

Why fly when you can cruise? Sure, the former might seem swifter, but it lacks the luxury services, family-friendly facilities, stunning views and city stopovers that are part and parcel of the latter. We even recently rolled out a guide of best luxury cruises from Singapore to sail the open seas like a boss. But here’s a new voyage from Princess Cruises that really takes the cake – a 29-day direct cruise from Singapore to Alaska.

    alaska tour singapore

The first of its kind from Princess Cruises, this magnificent voyage will set sail from Singapore to Anchorage in Alaska, stopping at 11 ports across Asia including Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Taipei, Busan, and even key cities in Japan – looking to be quite the adventure indeed. Entertainment-wise, you can expect everything from live music and movies under the stars, to luxe spas and freshwater pools. And with 700 cabins fitted with balconies, you’re guaranteed romantic, picturesque views of the Alaskan scenery.

    alaska tour singapore

This cruise departs from 14 April, 2018, and it’s currently accepting bookings online . Tickets are priced at SGD4,520 per person, and guests have the option of extending their itinerary by a week for an additional SGD1,160.

The Singapore River is lined by outdoor eateries, bars and bike trails. (Photo by Kim I. Mott)

First-timers to this tropical city-state often pack along outside images of an economic dynamo – home to that space-age skyline from “Crazy Rich Asians” and an extra rule or two. ( No durians on the metro! ) But once you’re here, Singapore reveals itself as much more: Asia’s fabulous melting pot, where Chinese, Malay and Indian cultures merge so memorably.

Singapore is a breeze to enjoy. It’s always summer. English is widely spoken. Public transit is simple and cheap, and it’s easy to get here via Alaska’s partner airlines , including Singapore Airlines , which offers nonstop flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, New York and – beginning September 3 – Seattle.

Beyond the luxurious shopping and glittering lights loom golden beaches, century-old shophouses decked out in colorful tiles, pedestrian-only backlanes filled with boutiques and cafes – plus some of the world’s best street food in the city’s iconic “hawker centers.”

It’s also a hub offering easy access to much of Southeast Asia. After a few days here, you can double-up an overseas adventure by flying an hour or two to some of the world’s best beaches in Bali or Thailand, the ancient Khmer kingdom at Cambodia’s Angkor Wat, or floating villages of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. But you won’t be in any hurry to leave Singapore.

    alaska tour singapore

At 278 square miles, Singapore is a bit smaller than New York City, and is one of the most relaxing and rewarding Asian cities to visit. Most of the 5.4 million locals speak English (which joins Mandarin, Malay and Tamil as official languages).

The story of modern Singapore springs from many roots, including the Peranakan culture that grew from Chinese immigration in the 1400s, and the British colonial period, which began two centuries ago in 1819. World War II weighs heavy on Singapore consciousness, too: After Pearl Harbor the Japanese took over the entire Malay peninsula and the British-controlled Singapore by February 1942.

When colonial rulers proved unable to stop a foreign invasion, the seeds of independence were sown. Following a brief merger with Malaysia, Singapore became fully independent in 1965. Over the next half-century, Singapore left behind its humble kampong (village) origins and become one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, with the gross domestic product rising from US$320 per capita a year to over US$60,000.

For a fun way to learn more of Singapore’s 20th-century history, check out Sonny Liew’s cinematic and award-winning graphic novel, “The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye,” which tells an alternative history of modern Singapore through the life of an aged fictional cartoonist.

    alaska tour singapore

It’s summer all year in this tropical rainforest climate (the equator is only 88 miles south), and regardless of rain or crowds (notably July to August) it’s possible to have a great experience any time.

It rains frequently – often quick downpours, here and gone. February to April is generally driest (and without summer crowds), while rainfall peaks November to January.

Humidity is about the same all year, usually highest in the mornings at 90%, before tapering off in the afternoon – meaning it can be wise to start the morning by shopping or going to one of the excellent museums.

    Getting there

    alaska tour singapore

Reaching Singapore is one of the travel world’s great pleasures. Its Changi Airport has won consumer aviation website Skytrax’s annual award for best airport seven years straight, and the new Jewel terminal hub has become a city attraction in its own right. (See our recent video and review.)

Alaska Global Partners offer many flights to Singapore, allowing Mileage Plan members to earn their miles on a long-distance trip.

    Passports & visas

No visa is required for Americans to visit Singapore for up to 90 days, or for Canadians to visit up to 30 days. Ensure your passport is valid for six months and has two blank visa pages.

Singapore uses the Singapore dollar (SGD, or S$), which is worth about US$0.74. You’ll find ATMs using Visa, MasterCard, Cirrus, Plus, Eurocard networks in banks, convenience stores and malls – and most hotels, restaurants and shops accept the cards.

Singapore is more expensive than much of Southeast Asia, but it’s still generally less expensive than a visit to most American cities. You can spend anywhere from US$70 to more than US$400 per person per day, depending on how you roll. Restaurants and bars can rival high-end New York or Europe in price. A downtown restaurant serves overflowing platter of chili crab for S$90 (US$66), while pints of local Tiger lager beer vary from S$4 to S$16 (US$3 to US$11.70), depending on where you get it). But hawker centers offer excellent meals for as little as S$3 (US$2.20).

    Lay of the land

    alaska tour singapore

Singapore is made up of more than 60 islands at the southern tip of the Malay peninsula, between Malaysia and Indonesia. The main territory is the 17-by-31-mile Singapore Island, also known as Pulau Ujong. Most of the attractions fill its compact south-central districts, radiating inland from the harbor.

    alaska tour singapore

Many visitors set up around Marina Bay, the result of a reclamation project. It boasts oversized attractions like Marina Bay Sands’ boat-shaped SkyPark and the glowing “supertrees” that tower over less artificial horticulture of Gardens by the Bay. Across the bay lies Singapore’s historic heart, the Civic District, with canalside eateries along Circular Road and promenades passing illuminated bridges.

Just inland is Chinatown, with a food street and several hawker centers. A couple of miles east is Kampong Glam, a Malay enclave known for pairing the biggest mosque in town with colorful shops and eateries. To the north is Little India, with temples, sari shops and curry houses on Serangoon Road. Orchard Road, a few miles from Marina Bay to the north, is shopping central, with more than 20 high-end malls.

    Where to stay

    alaska tour singapore

You can easily fill five days in Singapore, so choose a convenient base. Civic District hotels can run over US$250. The nearby Marina Bay Sands is a US$700 splurge but offers guests infinity pool access in its SkyPark atop its three towers. Bucket-listers should consider the historic Raffles Hotel , famed for colonial-style grace and its homegrown Singapore Sling cocktails. It’ll cost you, though. The hotel reopened in August after a two-year restoration; rooms start around S$750 (US$550).

For cheaper stays, Singapore is fully entrenched in the “capsule hotel” scene, with slick offerings if you don’t mind climbing into a compact chamber and sharing bathrooms (starting at US$40 including breakfast). There are also double-bed capsules and small private rooms. Many cheaper Airbnb options run US$40 to US$60 a night, usually offering guesthouse-style apartments with shared bathrooms.

    alaska tour singapore

    Getting around

Singapore’s MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is a well-organized system where you can take buses or the 124-mile subway system using the E-Z Link card, which can be bought for non-refundable S$5 directly from subway attendants by the turnstiles. Note: machines accept cash only.

Color-coded lines are labeled by their terminus, so you’ll need to know your direction to board the right train. Grab a free subway line map for easy reference.

To ride, swipe your EZ-Link card to enter a subway station or get onto a bus, then swipe again when leaving. Fares vary depending how far you go; most one-way rides range from under S$1 to just over S$2. ( Here’s an online calculator. ) You need to keep S$3 minimum on your card to use it. Subway stations have “top-up” machines to add a minimum of S$10 to your card. You can buy point-to-point access with cash.

The MRT also offers a day pass for S$10, which makes sense if you’re planning on at least six rides.

In addition to taxis, Grab is the local version of Lyft or Uber, and easy to use with its mobile app. Most rides around central sites cost less than S$7. A ride between Changi airport and the center costs about S$20. MRT subway lines and buses connect the airport and city center, though they require a transfer.

Note: All vehicular traffic, as in England, runs on the left side of the street.

    Essential experiences

    alaska tour singapore

Singapore’s attractions span centuries and, of late, heights. Here are a few things you’ll likely want to do first. And if you fly on Alaska Global Partner Singapore Airlines, you get discounts to many attractions. (See the list.)

    Marina Bay Walk

Singapore’s sidewalks and promenades make for ideal walking and some sidewalks are even covered from midday sun or rains. The best is the two-mile walk around Marina Bay, where you’ll find theaters, restaurants, a Ferris wheel, downtown buildings, the city’s beloved Merlion sculpture fountain (the mystical mermaid/lion hybrid – only in Singapore!) and the iconic triplet-tower of Marina Bay Sands, where you can visit the SkyPark for S$23.

Locals and tourists alike come at dusk and for the evening light shows. Expect to accidently step in front of an Instagram shot or two.

    alaska tour singapore

Singapore has invested in showcasing its cultural achievements. And you’ll want to visit a couple of museums, which have the extra advantage of providing an air-conditioned break during the hottest time of day.

The excellent National Gallery Singapore , with its imaginative makeover of the old City Hall and Supreme Court buildings, debuted in 2015. Its towering galleries reveal artistic reactions to a modernizing era and are worth several hours.

    alaska tour singapore

The city’s oldest museum, the National Museum of Singapore, first opened in 1887 and offers an illuminating, at times playful, look at the development of the city-state in a stunning space. It even celebrates ‘70s films with a montage you watch from a “drive-in” theater.

For war buffs, Battlebox Museum offers a fascinating 75-minute tour of the bunkers in lovely Fort Canning Park where the British army ultimately made the call to surrender to the Japanese in February 1942.

Chinatown’s free Buddha Sacred Tooth Temple & Museum – housed in a Tang-style temple that looks old but was built in 2007 – is a free attraction near Chinatown eateries that gives a helpful Buddhism overview.

    alaska tour singapore

The Singapore Zoo is considered by many the world’s best. In the “open concept” space, natural boundaries replace fences and bars. The zoo is even open after dark for “night safaris” when critters are most active.

Brightly colored two- or three-story Chinese-style shophouses, built from the mid-1800s until World War II as commercial and residential spaces, are as key a piece of local architecture as the “painted lady” Victorians of San Francisco. The most elaborate, with ornate tilework and columned windows, incorporate Malay and Art Deco influences.

You’ll see them across town, including Little India’s Serangoon Rd, at the open-air eateries in Chinatown or the pub scene of river-facing Circular Road, and on boutique-filled lanes of Kampong Glam.

    Outdoor Activities

It’s known for urban glitz, but Singapore offers many ways to enjoy the outdoors. Pulau Ubin is a vehicle-free island near the airport, reached by a S$3 “bumboat” ferry; there you can rent bikes to explore a relatively untouched nature, including wetlands and mountains with views back on the city and the sea.

Another great place – particularly for families – is Sentosa Island, an amusement park hub with the nicest beaches.

    alaska tour singapore

Michelin stars and awards run rampant in Singapore, from food stalls to classy dining like Odette in the National Gallery. You will eat well, regardless of how much you spend.

Foodie events run all year, including the two-week Singapore Food Festival in July. The array of beloved staples (Hainanese chicken rice, Malay laksa, Indian roti prata flatbread) reveal how diverse Singapore is – and delicious.

Try atmospheric dining areas like riverside eateries along Circular Road (for seafood and pub fare) and Kampong Glam’s palm-lined pedestrian streets (for Middle Eastern and Malay food).

The 100-plus hawker centers are a revered link to street food heritage, each packed with endless options of cheap, excellent food that give a local spin to Chinese, Malay, Indonesian, Indian and Western recipes. “Crazy Rich Asians” fans will want to go to Newton hawker center, where Rachel goes for a hot, spicy plate of chili crab. There are many more options.

    alaska tour singapore

Singapore has been Southeast Asia’s capital of shopping for generations. Its Orchard Road is the region’s Champs-Élysées, lined with glitzy malls and high-end boutiques.

Kampong Glam is more like hipster Singapore, particularly the boutiques on the pedestrian strip of Haji Lane. A block away, Arab Street is good for imported textiles and rugs. You’ll find many colorful knickknacks in Chinatown and at Little India Arcade off Serangoon Road.

If you’re looking for food products, most hawker centers have markets – particularly helpful if you’ve fallen for the coconut jam used in kaya toast.

Explore how you can earn and redeem miles on trips to Singapore and other destinations in Asia by flying on Alaska Global Partner airlines.

When will award travel on Singapore Airlines open up to book travel?

    alaska tour singapore

Thanks for your question, Gail. Managers in the Alaska Global Partners program are actively working on integrating award travel on Singapore Airlines, and they hope to have an update soon.

    alaska tour singapore

Try something out-of-the-ordinary that’ll get your heart pumping at these short getaways from Singapore!

KL Tower Walk 100 - Kuala Lumpur Itinerary

“Typical destinations” near Singapore like Penang and Kuala Lumpur are popular for many reasons, mainly budget-friendly eating and shopping options. But did you know they also keep thrilling activities up their sleeve?

From overnight camping to horse-riding through mountains and beaches, here’s our list of short getaways from Singapore with adventurous things to do that you might not have heard of!

The best part is, they’re only 2 hours from Singapore, making it affordable and easy to commit to a quick out-of-the-country trip with your friends.

Plus, you may not even have to pay for any base fare thanks to AirAsia’s Free Seats promo… but more on that later 😉

    1) Go outdoor rock-climbing at an iconic landmark in Kuala Lumpur (1hr 10min flight)

Batu Caves Colourful Steps - Kuala Lumpur Itinerary

Kuala Lumpur is one of the most popular short getaways from Singapore because of its proximity, affordability, and diverse attractions.

An iconic landmark here is the Batu Caves , a majestic limestone cave complex with Hindu temples and shrines. Many tourists come by to see the statue of the Hindu god, Lord Murugan, up close.

Gua Damai Rock Climbing Batu Caves - Kuala Lumpur Itinerary

But a more exciting way to appreciate the caves? Climbing it! 🧗‍♀️

Behind the Batu Cave hill lies Gua Damai Extreme Park , an outdoor climbing site with over 100 routes across all difficulty levels. They also offer caving, trekking, and zip-lining — activities to test your threshold for thrills!

Then up the ante by walking on a glass platform 100ft from the ground at KL Tower Walk 100 … perhaps one of the most unique ways to appreciate a panoramic view of the cityscape.

SkyWorlds Genting Overview - Kuala Lumpur Itinerary

Resorts World Genting SkyWorlds is also a must-visit for theme park lovers! It opened back in 2022 with attractions inspired by popular movies like Ice Age ,  Rio , and  Epic . Immerse yourself in the themed areas and get on adrenaline-pumping rides for a fun day of adventure.

Or check out art exhibitions, performances, and shops located in the charming REXKL .

This unique arts and culture hub is not only aesthetically pleasing, but it’s also a place to meet local artists and entrepreneurs. Our favourite shop here was BookXcess , which had picturesque floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

    2) Hike to see a clear view of the Milky Way in Phuket (1hr 45min flight)

Samet Nangshe Viewpoint Milky Way - Phuket Itinerary

Going on a hike near Phuket was one of the most pleasantly surprising things we did this year.

An hour-long car ride from Old Phuket Town to Phang Nga , followed by a 20-minute hike will lead you to the Samet Nangshe Viewpoint . While it’s a beautiful place to watch the sunrise, head out a few hours earlier and you might just see an unobstructed sky full of stars! 🌟

Who knew there’d be a banger view like that near the beach town?

    Paramotor View - Phuket Itinerary

If you want to admire the sunrise in a more exhilarating fashion, hop on a paramotor (motorised parachute) flight at Phuket Airpark . Just sit back, soar above the skies, and get a bird’s eye view of the pristine beaches and lush jungles Phuket is famous for.

People on Sail Rock - Things to do in Thailand

Phuket is also well-known for its Phi Phi Islands and James Bond Island , which are usually crowded with tourists. For a better island-hopping experience with a smaller crowd, visit Similan Islands instead! Its main highlight is Island No. 8 (Similan Island), where you’ll have a stunning panoramic view of the sea atop Sail Rock.

Girl in Claw Room - Phuket Itinerary

Another activity to look forward to in Phuket is the Selfie Experience Phuket . It’s the biggest selfie museum in Asia with over 40 photobooths, and that means many opportunities to take cute photos with your friends. Themes include supersized claw machines, giant colourful ball pits, and a wall of donuts. They even let you wear fun costumes!

*Note: They’re currently in the process of relocating, so when they re-open in August , expect to try even more fun booths!

Or go on the world’s highest rope course where you’ll walk, climb, and balance 239m up the tower.

Penang has even more unique attractions such as their plethora of quirky museums. These include the horror-themed Ghost Museum , the Glass Museum which offers glass-making lessons, and Magic World , where you’ll learn what goes on behind magic tricks.

Entopia - Short Getaways from Singapore

Island Horses allows you to leisurely ride on expertly-trained horses through a rainforest, jungle streams, and beaches — even if you’ve never done it before!

Another unique way to traverse through Langkawi is on a guided jet ski tour ! It’s a more thrilling way to get around compared to a traditional island-hopping tour.
