La aclamada cantante noruega AURORA ha anunciado su esperado regreso a Lima con su gira mundial What Happened To The Earth? Part 3. El concierto tendrá lugar el próximo 8 de noviembre en Costa 21, y marcará el inicio de una nueva etapa en la carrera de la artista, quien presentará su último disco, “What Happened to the Heart?” , programado para ser lanzado el 7 de junio.

AURORA, conocida por su voz única y su profunda conexión con la naturaleza y la espiritualidad, se inspiró para este nuevo álbum después de leer una carta titulada “Somos la Tierra”, escrita por activistas indígenas. Este mensaje la impulsó a explorar la conexión entre el corazón humano y la tierra, temas que se reflejan en cada una de las canciones de su nuevo disco.

“What Happened to the Heart?” es una travesía que va de la vulnerabilidad a la fortaleza, abordando la pérdida de conexión espiritual en la sociedad moderna y el poder curativo de la vulnerabilidad. El álbum incluye colaboraciones con artistas de renombre como Ane Brun y miembros de The Chemical Brothers, entre otros, y fue grabado en diversos estudios de Noruega, Alemania, Londres y Los Ángeles.

El regreso de AURORA a Lima sigue al éxito de su concierto en marzo del año pasado en el Parque de la Exposición, que agotó todas las entradas. En esta ocasión, los fans podrán disfrutar de un espectáculo aún más especial y significativo, lleno de nuevas canciones y el carisma característico de la artista. Aurora sits at her piano and starts to play Animal Soul as a solo acoustic.

This is a peaceful song describing birth and the idea that our animal soul can hardly find a place in this world of hate. Aurora’s voice is delicate as she touches very high pitched notes.

It makes for a slightly sleepy beginning of a concert, but it sets the atmosphere for the next song.

Aurora turns towards the rest of the band. The drummer joins in almost immediately with the kick drum. He uses brushes on the edges of a snare drum. The guitarist uses a slight Reverb and plays a line based on two notes. Aurora starts to play a well known motive on her piano.

Teardrop by Massive Attack is probably their most famous song. Aurora’s voice is perfect to interpret it. During the chorus she lets it wander, reminding a lot the singing style of Dolores O’ Riordan. It is an extremely powerful performance.

Aurora comes out of the performance status and like a little elf, with her funny English greets the audience.

The next song is Warrior. Silje Sol joins on piano and with support vocals. The guitarist sings as well. The song is so energetic and powerful. It brings tears to my eyes. It is much warmer than the studio version, which is almost drowned in a cold synth-base. The support vocals by Silje Sol makes it in my opinion the best version ever performed.

It is sad to think that she cannot see the reaction from the audience. I was singing along and dancing and I was almost in tears while she was singing Warrior. If this is going to be the future of concerts, one should find a solution to give feedback to the artists from the audience. Maybe a screen the artist can look at while performing. Of course the screen should be moderated, people can do crazy things even on screen, so this shouldn’t disrupt the performance in any way.

All is soft Inside is also performed flawlessly, with its great high-pitched passages. The way Aurora moves, how she shakes around, like a little bird bathing in a pond, it is just so joyful.

She is also great at pep-talking, at supporting her audience during CoVid.

She dedicates Through the Eyes of a Child to them. The lyrics are really evocative and sweet.

In The River, Queendom and The Seed Aurora and Silje Sol perform wonderful harmonizations with their voices. Aurora’s vocalization remind me of a Native American, an imaginary she often refers to. In The Seed she refers to the famous quote by Obomsawin.

She ends her concert with Across the Universe, sang together with the rest of the band.

This was a magic experience.

Okay, let me just say that this was my first concert that I’ve been to and I already know it’s the best I’ll ever see. AURORA is everything—her live voice is impeccable, her band is flawless, and her personality makes you feel like you’re with friends just watching another friend perform. I have nothing to complain about because this was absolutely the best experience of my life.

It was nice to see Aurora return to Toronto for one show at the Danforth Music Hall. She played songs from her latest effort to the delight of many of us. There were no surprises last night as she delivered what we all expected- great music with personality, hip and ideal support from her band. A worthwhile evening.

In Cusco, a 3 hour and 15-minute train ride will take you through the scenic Sacred Valley to the town of Aguas Calientes, the basetown for Machu Picchu. In Aguas Calientes, a 30-minute bus ride will take you up to the main entrance of the Machu Picchu ruins.

To avoid symptoms of altitude sickness during your Machu Picchu tour, it’s best to acclimate in Cusco or the Sacred Valley for 1-2 days before the train ride to Machu Picchu.

Witnessing the phenomena of the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights is a tour highlight when visiting our Northern region in late autumn, winter and early spring.

When will I see the Aurora Borealis?

If your holiday is well planned, the answer is often yes. However, most people will appreciate that the Aurora is a natural phenomena, and part of their attraction lies in the fact that they cannot be controlled or even properly predicted. What we can do is to get you to the best locations at the right time. This may mean allowing for common weather patterns, and/or travelling either inland or out to the coast. It nearly always means getting you out of populated areas with light pollution, and into the exotic wilderness with plenty of great daytime activities to guarantee a memorable experience!

When to go see the Aurora Borealis?

The period between November and March is generally the best time to see the Aurora Borealis. However, they can also be seen in late September, October and early April. Other times of year there is not enough darkness. October and November tend to see a lot of windy and wet weather, which of course means cloud cover and less chance to see the lights. Our favourite months are mid January, February; March, which means plenty of darkness in the peak viewing period between 6pm and midnight, and plenty of daylight to enjoy other winter activities. What are the Aurora Borealis?

The ultimate energy source of the aurora is the solar wind flowing past Earth and touching its magnetic field. Aurora starts when explosions in the sun send off particles into space. These particles are charged and form the solar wind. When solar wind hits Earth's magnetic field in the Polar areas where the magnetic shield is less powerful, it collides with particles in our atmosphere creating electricity and light. It is this light that we see as the Northern Light or Aurora Borealis.

The Aurora awed the ancient people. Aurora was the Roman goddess of the dawn. Boreas is a Greek word for the north wind; thus, the northern lights. The Finnish word for the lights, 'revontulet', comes from a Sami legend where the tail of a fox running on along the snow covered fells strikes the snow drifts and sends a trail of sparks high up to the sky. Revontulet literally means foxfires. The Vikings believed that the Aurora was a beautiful maiden called Valkyrias who escorted those killed in battle to the gods. The Sami people of Lapland also believed they had power over the lights, and whistling under them would cause them to come closer. Many ancient people would not stare at or speak of them, due to a fear of insulting their divinity.
