Paris Beach Pro Tour

2022 edition

  • 2023 edition

Practical informations

More than 15,000 spectators attended the 1st edition. Thank you all for this incredible enthusiasm around the Paris Beach Pro Tour. We knew that beach volleyball fans had been waiting for a major beach volleyball event in France for a very long time, and you responded.  A crazy atmosphere during the 4 days allowed the players to transcend themselves and to offer a very high quality tournament.

background

The men's tournament

Over the 4 days, continuous entertainment and the best pairs in the world. In the buttom, the final table of the 2022 edition:

In the men's tournament, Norwegians Anders Mol and Chirstian Sorum, world champions, Olympic champions and world number one, won against the Dutch pair Brouwer/Meeuwsen. Anders Mol was very happy with the victory: "As Norwegians, we also wanted to 'avenge' Casper Ruud, beaten in the final by Nadal. Norway won the French Open! We can't wait to come back here for the future editions". The appointment is made for the 2023 edition!

Focus on French men's pairs

The first edition of the Paris Beach Pro Tour was also the first tournament for the new French pair Lyneel/Bassereau. Former indoor volleyball players, the two southerners made great impression, catching the best teams including the finalist pair.

The second French male pair of this edition was Krou/Gauthier-Rat. They came very close to qualifying for the quarter-finals with a win and a very close super tie-break loss to one of the best duos on the circuit: Cherif/Ahmed. Despite their elimination in Pool C, the French finished the season very well by winning the Elite 16 in Torquay, Australia, with high hopes for the second edition of the Paris Beach Pro Tour.

background

The women's tournament

In the women's tournament, the Dutch Raïsa Schoon and Katja Stam won the final 2-0 against the Latvian Samoilova/Graudina. Raïsa Schoon explains "It's crazy to win here. Of course we have alreadu played in big stadiums before, but never in such a mythical place of sport with all these big names. This victory in the final sounds like a revenge for the Dutch, beaten in the semi-finals of the last European Championship by Tina Graudina, this time in pair with Anastasija Kravcenoka.

On the French side, the pair Placette/Richard did not manage to reach the quarter finals despite their victory against the Italians in the 3rd and last match. But the French pair keeps on progressing. One month later, during the Elite 16 in Cape Town (South Africa), they reached the 4th place promising great things for the 2023 season and in particular for the Paris Beach Pro Tour in front of their public.

The Beach Pro Tour is the worldwide professional beach volleyball tour for both men and women organised by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).

The World Tour was inaugurated for men in 1989 while the women first competed in 1992; the men's and women's final tournaments are normally held at the same venue over the same dates. Winning the World Tour is considered to be one of the highest honours in international beach volleyball, with only the World Championships and the Olympic beach volleyball tournaments being deemed more prestigious. The current format started in 2022 and is now called the Beach Pro Tour.

This Elite16 round is held in Paris, France.

Venue Travel & Parking

🏟️ Address :  Stade Roland-Garros , 2 Avenue Gordon Bennett, Paris, 75016, France Directions in Google Maps

Stade Roland-Garros is located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, at the south end of the Bois de Boulogne park. The venue's urban location means it is well connected to Paris' public transport network, including metro and bus services. Whilst there is official car parking available, it is located at car parks which are situated off the venue site, so visitors may find a taxi more convenient if travelling shorter distances by road.

Stade Roland-Garros Map

Public parking spaces directly around the venue are reserved for local residents only. Roland-Garros ticket holders will therefore need to use one of the off-site car parks which are open to tournament visitors. Please note that whilst using the below car parks is endorsed by the tournament organisers, not all are officially supervised or organised by them.

Paid general admission car parks

The following car parks are all located in good proximity to at least 1 of Roland-Garros' 3 mandatory entry checkpoints (PPO), and can be used by visitors who do not have parking passes included in the price of their tournament tickets:

  • Porte d'Auteuil (Carrefour supermarket) car park, Avenue du Général Sarrail 75016 - 400 m (5 min) walk to checkpoint Auteuil
  • Parchamp car park, Rue du Parchamp 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt - 450 m (5 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne
  • Porte de Saint-Cloud car park, Avenue de la Porte de Saint-Cloud 75016 - 1.0 km (12 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor
  • Point-du-Jour car park, Place Abel-Gance 92200 Boulogne-Billancourt - 1.4 km (17 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor

"Special" (VIP) car parks

The following car parks can be used by some premium or hospitality ticket holders, whose tickets include "guest" parking or an allocated premium parking space:

  • Car park P5, Rue Nungesser et Coli 75016 -350 m (4 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor
  • Car park P2, Allée de la reine Marguerite 75016 - 400 m (5 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne

Motorcycle and moped parking

  • 26 Avenue du Général Sarrail 75016 - 250 m (3 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor
  • Route de Boulogne à Passy 75016 - 950 m (11 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne
  • Allée de la Reine Marguerite 75016 - 1.4 km (17 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne

It is prohibited to drop people off or pick them up on the roads directly around the venue, so travellers using taxis or other rideshare vehicles should make use of one of the designated areas, close to the 3 mandatory entry checkpoints (PPO).

Drop-off areas

  • Carrefour des Anciens Combattants, 75016 - 30 m (1 min) walk from checkpoint Boulogne
  • 2 Avenue de la Porte Molitor, 75016 - 100 m (1 min) walk from checkpoint Molitor
  • In front of the fountain on Place de la Porte d’Auteuil, 75016 - 400 m (5 min) walk from checkpoint Auteuil
  • Route de Boulogne à Passy, 75016 - 700 m (8 min) walk from checkpoint Boulogne

Disabled drop-off area

There is a designated drop-off area at 8 Boulevard d'Auteuil, 75016, exclusively for the use of persons in possession of a disability card or other official documentation.

  • Corner of Boulevard Murat and 55 Rue Molitor, 75016 (opposite Le Moliteuil restaurant) - 200 m (2 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor
  • Corner of Boulevard Exelmans and Rue d’Auteuil, 75016 (opposite Le Congrès restaurant) - 250 m (3 min) walk to checkpoint Auteuil
  • Temporary taxi rank on Allée de la Reine Marguerite, 75016 - 400 m (5 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne

🚍 Coach & Bus

Public buses

There are a range of public bus routes that stop within a short walk of Stade Roland-Garros' 3 mandatory entry checkpoints (PPO):

  • 32, 52, 123, 241, & PC - Gare d'Auteuil & Porte d'Auteuil bus stops · 50 m (1 min) walk to checkpoint Auteuil
  • 123, 241, 260, & 460 - Gambetta bus stop · 50 m (1 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne
  • 22, 42, 54, 62, 72, N12, N61, & PC - Porte de Saint-Cloud & Porte de Saint-Cloud (Murat) bus stops - 1.0 km (12 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor

Private coaches

There is a designated coach drop-off point located at 19 Boulevard Murat, 75016, just a 270 m (3 min) walk from checkpoint Molitor.

Roland-Garros can be easily reached on the Paris Metro system - there are 3 stops within an 800 m walk of at least 1 of the venue's 3 mandatory entry checkpoints (PPO):

  • Line 10 - Porte d'Auteuil · 80 m (1 min) walk to checkpoint Auteuil
  • Lines 9 & 10 - Michel-Ange Molitor station · 500 m (6 min) walk to checkpoint Molitor
  • Line 10 - Boulogne Jean-Jaurès station · 800 m (10 min) walk to checkpoint Boulogne

It is recommended that spectators leaving Stade Roland-Garros get on the metro at Michel-Ange Molitor station.

Visitors making use of the metro are encouraged to purchase their return ticket at the beginning of the day, as it is easier than purchasing a second ticket at the end of the session, when the metro stations are busiest.

Hundreds of bicycle racks are available near to all 3 mandatory entry checkpoints (PPO): Auteuil, Molitor, and Boulogne. The bike racks by checkpoint Molitor are supervised by a tournament attendant between the hours of 07:00 and 23:00, and there will also be a bike repair station available at this location. It is strongly recommended that bike locks are still used throughout all bike storage facilities. Access to the bicycle parking is available upon presentation of any tournament ticket.

🚶‍♂️ Walking

If you are staying in the 16th arrondissement or nearby, it is possible to walk to Stade Roland-Garros; travellers staying north of the venue can even allow some extra time to make their journey, and make the scenic 4.0 km (48 min) walk through Bois de Boulogne park.

For those staying further away, taking public transport is recommended, due to Paris' large size. For example, it is an 8.0 km (96 min) walk to the venue from the 1st arrondissement in the centre of Paris.

Accommodation

As one of the most visited cities in Europe, it’s hard to visit Paris on a budget. But while there are renowned white-glove-service hotels and boutique hotels particuliers, there are plenty of hostels to choose from too. Moreover, although accommodation on the west side of Paris is best positioned for reaching Stade Roland-Garros, comparing options across a range of arrondissements may not only help keep prices down, but can also provide an attractive compromise between tournament accessibility and proximity to some tourist landmarks.
