Toni braxton sells her calabasas mansion for $3.4 million.

She may have owned it for less than two years, but Toni Braxton can “Breathe Again” now that she has sold her 5,323-square-foot home for sale in Calabasas, CA . The one-story estate in The Oaks was built in 2006, with four en-suite bedrooms and stunning views of the California hills. At $3.4 million, the price tag is an “affordable” entry point for someone looking to get into this coveted neighborhood. (Or someone who’s just dying to live near a Kardashian : Kylie, Khloe, and Kourtney have all owned homes here.)

Toni, by the way, bought the home back in the fall of 2014 for $2.9 million, after recovering from a bankruptcy that found her debt to be as high as $50 million . Ouch!

Inside the French-style home, stone and hardwood floors pair with cathedral beamed ceilings, with five fireplaces to cozy up to. A gourmet chef’s kitchen features a stone center island and side-by-side SubZero refrigerators and opens out to a large family room with a built-in entertainment center — the perfect spot to watch the Lifetime movie based on Toni’s life. The master suite includes a sitting room with a dual-sided fireplace, two large walk-in closets, and a master bath featuring a luxurious shower with multiple spray heads, spa tub, and a separate vanity.

Outside, the spacious, private grounds welcome guests with a courtyard entry. A pool, spa, grassy area, and gazebo with fireplace extend the living space outdoors. So far, there’s no word on where the elusive Toni, who recently shocked the R&B world with a stunning performance at the BET Awards, is headed. But with bankruptcy behind her, this clearly isn’t just “Another Sad Love Song.”

Toni Braxton (born October 7, 1968) is arguably the most successful and prolific American R&B singer of the ‘90s, hailing from Severn, Maryland, U.S.

Born into a strict Apostolic faith, Braxton’s earliest musical influences came from gospel; singing in the local church with her four sisters and operatically trained mother. After her parents changed faith, Braxton was afforded a wider set of musical influences and allowed to explore her vocal talents. After being discovered singing to herself in a gas station by songwriter Bill Pittaway, the Braxton siblings, known as the Braxtons, signed with Arista Records in 1990.

The group’s debut single, “The Good Life”, arrived in 1990, though despite failing to chart, introduced Toni Braxton to the songwriting and production gurus L.A. Reid and Babyface. Braxton became the duo first signing on the duo's LaFace label in 1991, which led to the singer appearing on the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy film “Boomerang” in 1992. Braxton’s highly-anticipated debut album was issued in 1993, the self-titled release shot to No. 1 on the pop and R&B U.S. charts, and spawned a host of Top 10 singles including “Another Sad Love Song” and “You Mean the World to Me”. The album sold over eight million copies, led to Grammy wins for Best New Artist and for Best Female R&B Vocals two year running with “Another Sad Love Song” in 1994 and “Breathe Again” in 1995.

After contributing to the Witney Houston-focused soundtrack to “Waiting to Exhale” in 1995, Braxton released her sophomore album “Secrets” in 1996. With the success of her self-titled debut, it was a hard act to follow, however, it was another hugely popular hit. Aided by hit single after hit single including “You’re Makin’ Me High”, “Un-break My Hearrt” and “I Don’t Want To”, the album once again sold over eight million copies. Later winning the singer the Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal for “Un-break My Heart” and Best Female R&B Vocal for “You’re Making Me High”, the album cemented Braxton’s role as the figurehead of ’90’s R&B.

Subsequent to the album Braxton was caught in a legal limbo with the label LaFace and was unable to release another album until “The Heat” in 2000. “The Heat” proved another successful album though was unable to match the sales of its predecessors, despite the singles “Just Be a Man About It” and “Spanish Guitar”. Braxton did however earn her sixth Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal for “He Wasn’t Man Enough”. The singer subsequently released the album “More Than a Woman” in 2003, “Libra” in 2005, “Pulse" in 2010, and the duet album alongside Babyface, “Love, Marriage & Divorce” in 2014.

Live reviews

The Babyface portion of the concert was worth the ticket price alone even though I saw Babyface perform last year at the same venue.

Toni Braxton's performance started very weak. From the television screens, it looked to me as if she was lip synching the first song. The audience immediately complained several times that we couldn't hear her. Ms. Braxton tried her best to accommodate us by holding the mic closer, repositioning herself closer to the end of the stage and demanding that the sound team make technical adjustments. All of this did help to improve her vocals in the end; however, some people had already left the concert in disappoint. But in all fairness, it was late when Toni Braxton took the stage - 10pm on a work night.

Toni admitted that she was hoarse and tried to get one of her sisters to sing a song. Trina and Towanda refused. Toni then wasted a significant amount of her time entertaining and taking selfie pics with a select few audience members in the front row. I was sitting in front row of Loge (my fav area for all concerts) however this area is totally disadvantaged from most audience participation stunts. Although I must say, Babyface made it to where I was sitting, but sadly not Toni.

Toni showed a video clip of Braxton Family Values. People booed when she suggested it, but I personally enjoyed it. It was short, entertaining and didn't take much time because everything was already set up for it.

Ms. Braxton's performance provided ticket purchasers with a lot to complain about. For me the gravest disappointment was the lack of organization exhibited. It felt like she just showed up without thinking about which songs to sing and without rehersing. She kept asking her band and the audience what else could she sing almost as if she didn't have the sheet music or lyrics for her own recordings! Although that part really got under my skin, the prick was softened by the fact that while doing this she looked so damn FABULOUS, SUPER SEXY HOT, SENSATIONALLY GORGEOUS.

Toni Braxton is kind-hearted and it showed in the amount of attention she gave to her fans in concert! When she came to Chene Park in Detroit last August, she brought so many fans on stage that I lost count. One elderly couple was celebrating their wedding anniversary, and she sung the hit, “Breathe Again,” to them as the couple danced together onstage. Toni also danced with one gentleman from the audience; you could tell she really had fun with him, and she gave him a loving hug when they were finished. Although the singer had not released an album between 2011-2013, her performance was still worth seeing because of her classics. “Another Sad Love Song,” “Seven Whole Days,” "Un-Break My Heart,” and “Spanish Guitar” are among the many hits Toni performed. Even though this artist has some sad and heart-breaking songs, the concert still went about in a fun and lively manner. It was not at all depressing or a sob session. Additionally, she did announce that she and singer Babyface would be releasing their song, “Hurt You,” soon and for fans to look out for it. It was also a great surprise when Toni’s soul-singing sisters Traci, Trina, and Towanda made an appearance. They sung a few songs together, including “Just Be A Man About It.” Overall, the show was wonderful. Regarding how appreciative and humble Toni Braxton is, she surely deserved every penny of the ticket price.

What a woman, what a voice. Toni Braxton, often affectionally nicknamed the 'queen of R & B' has been delighting audience since she rose to prominence in the mid 90's. As opposed to her contemporaries such as Beyonce, Rihanna or Ciara, Braxton has kept her live show purposely minimal so as to allow those vocals to really shine.

Known for her endearing personality and kind mannerisms, she immediately builds a rapport with her crowd and they repay her likeable stage persona with even louder applause and cheers for classics including 'Breathe Again' and 'You're Making Me High'. Her vocal does not appear to have wavered with age and she is still able to perform the impressive vocal acrobatics that first brought her to the attention of countless record labels.

All of the fan favourites are included tonight and by a final emotive performance of 'Un-break My Heart' the whole audience is on their feet applauding this talented singer.

The show was amazing! Toni really out did herself from her audience participation to her vocals. She put on the best show she possibly could considering the horrible venue and the fact that she was getting over a cold. The show was held in Houston, TX at the arena theatre. The oldest theatre known to man! My fiance surprised me with tickets before he proposed to me. The tickets were apart of my engagement surprise because my fiance know I love me some Toni! My fiance purchased the V.I.P experience tickets, but honestly there wasn't anything V.I.P about them. There wasn't a meet an greet and the venue service was terrible. However, Toni you were amazing an really made my engagement even more special!

After seeing Toni Braxton over 20 years ago in the UK and enjoying her music up to now, I was really excited about seeing her once again in concert.

Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with her performance on the evening of the 16th November at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.

Firstly, the 'sound' quality was very poor, could not hear her properly.

Also, too much 'audience participation' going on and not enough of her singing.

The first artist I have seen not to do an encore!!

I still love listening to her music but I certainly would not go to see her in concert again.

Toni Braxton is one of the most beautiful woman in the world and on top of that...one of the most talented! Her voice is simply unbelievable; if "falling in love" had a sound, it would be Toni Braxton's voice. This is not all..she's one of the sweetest and nicest souls around with class to the 100th power. Needless to say, her concert was amazing, soothing, and fun! It's actually my second time seeing her in xonxert and definitely not the last. Thanks Baby Face for finding such an irreplaceable person and introducing her to the world...a more beautiful place because of her!!!

SWV put on a hell of a show... sounding as they never left... Toni set was up and down as somehow the sound people did not so a very good job of doing a sound check. As far as the show; she was engaging with the fans ... but never chose me to dance the final set... I thought the acoustics were due to the Township is an OLD venue... that would not have the trouble in a newer venue... it was frustrating to the fans as it was to Toni... but I hope she does not hold it against SC as the show was a sellout.

First concert and almost didn't go. I got the ticket the day of and for one ticket it was very expensive! Memo: buy tickets before the show when the tickets isn't as much. Since I went solo, was little odd, but did have fun! Toni Braxton, at the start of the show wasn't the "best", it was great anyways! Two hours with a couple of R&B's legacy singers, Toni Braxton and SWV, was a huge blessing, not anything that I'll change, mishaps or anything.

Toni Braxton was really good. She started on time and she put on a great performance. With so much music she couldn't sing everything. Per her own admission, the whole band was recovering from a cold. She sneezed and still kept going. I really enjoyed the show, Caesar's Palace Venue is another story. I will definitely see her again. Pure raw talent!

What an amazing night! Toni was on fleek! She is absolutely awesome. I would go today to another show and tomorrow. I grew up listening to her, idolizing her and the Braxton Family Values is my favourite. I lover her so so much, and she better come back again. I was amazed by her performance

A lot has happened since The Braxton family completed their tenure on Braxton Family Values . But the family has returned to television in the new We TV reality series , The Braxtons . For Towanda Braxton and Trina Braxton , being on television feels amazing. Speaking to the sisters ahead of their brand-new series, the women had a lot to share on why this was the right moment to return and what stories they wanted to share.

The Braxtons follows sisters Toni Braxton, Tamar Braxton , Trina, and Towanda, as well as their mother Ms. E. as they navigate life following the passing of Traci Braxton. Through raw flashbacks and family gatherings, the women attempt to pick up the pieces and find the strength to grieve. Trina and Towanda joined Collider virtually as they spoke about the importance of this series as well as shared just what makes their dynamic so special.

It marks the return of Toni, Towanda, Trina, Tamar, and their mother Evelyn Braxton, three years after their previous series, Braxton Family Values, ended. The series will follow the family as they navigate new successes, heartbreaks, and ongoing family dynamics, especially dealing with the grief of losing their sister Traci in 2022.

'The Braxtons' are Back In Honor of Traci

After congratulating Trina and Towanda on their return, Towanda shared that it felt amazing. But as Trina put it, "You know what it feels like? It feels like you've been on a really long vacation. And now you're finally home and you're sleeping in your own bed." On The Braxtons , the series starts off with the difficult realities of rallying back as a family following the loss of their beloved sister after her battle with cancer. But there had to be a reason to return to television at this moment for this show. And it was Traci. "When Traci was transitioning, she wanted to tell her own story. She wanted to tell her story. And then she told us that, 'Hey guys, I want you to do the show because I want you guys to tell my story.' We said, okay,' shares Towanda. We TV invited them home, and the rest is history.

'The Braxtons' Review: An Emotionally Raw New Chapter

'The Braxtons' doesn't shy away from depicting this family's grieving, for better and worse.

Of course, The Braxtons was not Trina and Towanda's first time doing a docureality series. With a little experience under their belt, there was something different about this show. For Trina, she shared, "The difference, you know, quite obviously is that elemental loss of Traci. She's definitely missed. That Traci spark is definitely missed." She joked, "But also you still get to still see your other favorite Braxtons. Still up to our quirky little things that we used to do. but just slightly older." New show, same antics!

'The Braxtons' Is a Celebration of Traci

At the heart of The Braxtons , it is a celebration of Traci Braxton . By sharing Traci's story on television, the family has the opportunity to give the world a chance to remember Traci the best way possible. "I want the world to remember Traci as being Traci and that she was an amazing spirit. She was a fighter. She's the strongest person I've ever met or known before in my life. She fought to the very end. And even in the end, she still wanted to fight," Towanda said. "I want everybody to remember her as being an amazing, wonderful spirit. And an amazing mother, an amazing sister. She was just an incredible human being and I just think that we were so blessed that God placed her so gently into our lives." While she may not be physically there, a part of Traci lives on on the show. Traci gifted her family a hummingbird necklace, something that the women cherish, wearing them during our interview.

Expressing grief and going through a period of mourning is central to the story on The Braxtons . For Trina, this was her opportunity to do this out loud. "After some reflection, it reminded me that this is why we're doing this show in the first place. That's why Braxton Family Values 12 years ago did it in the first place. We wanted the fans and our viewers to know, and understand and realize that we're just like everybody else. This loss affects us just as much as it would anybody else." It's true. Everyone grieves. She continued, "And it's okay to grieve . And it's okay to not be okay. And it's okay to move forward with your life without feeling regret. It's okay to move forward with your life without feeling, Oh my gosh, well, I'm grieving, but how long does it take for me to grieve? There is no right or wrong answer for anyone. And you have to have grief at your own pace, in your own time, and in the way you grieve. Everybody's not going to grieve the same."

Towanda and Trina Have an Undeniable Dynamic

Beyond sharing Traci's journey, The Braxtons has allowed viewers to come back and watch the sisters be sisters. "Trina and I are the closest in age. Trina and I are only 15 months apart and everybody else is like two years and two and a half years apart. The fact that me and Trina live in the same state, it helps a lot. And then Trina owned a restaurant and she, you know, she, she bartended and had a mobile bar that helped a lot too," Towanda joked. "Trina's just fun. She's just not my sister, she's my friend, you know? And even if we weren't sisters, she would be my friend and that's special...Everybody's dynamics of a family, you have that person that you can be like, okay, if that person was not my family member, I would like that person, I would hang out with that person. And that for me is Trina." Towanda did say it was Traci too as it was "me, Trina, and Traci." Trina rifted off her sister and said, "And not to take away from, you know, our two remaining sisters, but like Tawanda said, we were the closest in proximity of age and distance from one home to another. And we actually hang out with each other. Like we don't need the cameras to be on us. We are on the phone with each other at least six to eight times a day. Yeah. And it's just, I love her. I choose her."

To keep things fun and lighthearted, we played a little word association game called Tea Time. I gave them a name of a family member, and they shared a word or phrase to describe them. We started with Toni. Trina said sultry, to which Towanda agreed. With Tamar, Trina simply said "I'm sorry," before saying she joking. Towanda found it so hilarious before saying she would have said brat, decided not to say it out loud. She said, "Giving people grace is what I'm trying to do these days in my life." For their mother, Ms. E, Towanda and Trina agreed on talented. Of course, we had to end with one another. For Towanda, Towanda said amazing, as Trina said, "Secret squirrel." And for Trina, Trina simply said "You're welcome" as Towanda laughed and said "Wonderful."

The world is getting another chance to hang out with the Braxtons. For some, this is their first time meeting. No matter what, Towanda and Trina are excited to return to the screen and share the story of Traci through one another , as well as her son Kevin, who will be featured on the series. At the end of the day, The Braxtons takes a hard look at grief and loss, reminding viewers of the importance of taking the time personally to do it on your terms.

Toni Braxton scheduled in South Africa for “Long as I Live” tour

South Africans can ‘Breathe Again’ as Toni confirms tour dates.

Toni Braxton, seven time Grammy award-winning songstress confirmed that she would be gracing South Africa with a performance as she brings her ‘As Long As I Live’ tour to Johannesburg and Cape Town later this year.

Toni Braxton tour: What are the tour dates for South Africa?

The event is pioneered by Glen 21 Entertainment, in association with McDonald’s and Kaya Fm 95.9. The event will also commemorate Braxton’s 25th anniversary in the music industry.

The Johannesburg show will take place on 9 November, at the Ticketpro Dome and the Cape Town show will be at the Grand Arena, Grandwest Casino, on 12 November.

Braxton takes a look back on her silver anniversary and hit album ‘Sex & Cigarettes’, and states she’s still in love with music and the opportunities it has brought her.

Toni Braxton tour: What are the ticket prices?

The Johannesburg ticket prices range from R790 to R2,880 for hospitality packages which can be booked directly from TicketPro. Cape Town ticket prices range between R650 and R1,310.00 and are available from TicketPro and selected Spar outlets.

Some charity commitments are on the agenda too

Toni is scheduled to visit the Ronald McDonald House Charities South Africa in association with McDonald’s. This organisation supports programs regarding the health and wellbeing of children and their families.

The NGO further provides accommodation near medical facilities for families with sick children, including a 27-bedroom Ronald McDonald House which is located on the top floor of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.

“Helping families stay close to their critically-ill or injured children, further enables family-centered care by increasing the ability of parents to spend more time with children receiving hospital care, and interact with their clinical care providers and participate in care decisions. Our first Ronald McDonald House which is a first in Africa was launched in Johannesburg in May 2017. The 27 bedroom House is located at the top of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital and will provide accommodation, hope, care and compassion to hundreds of families of sick children receiving specialised treatment each year.” Ronald McDonald House
