Watain was phenomenal! They all looked wicked as if they just escaped from hell. The setup was looking amazing- definitely had a menacing, satanic, and evil feel to it. Not to mention, Erik did his infamous act of spraying pig blood at the audience. I didn't get any on me because he only threw it to the center of the front row rather than the sides of the audience. There was a ritual or some sort of closing ceremony he did with candles and a skull, letting the audience know that it marked the end of their performance with Erik bowing at the end of it. Much energy in their performance, but Erik got tired near the end, which is understandable because black metal vocals are pretty damn hard to do for nearly 2 hours straight. They all did such a great job. My neck is still sore as fuck from last night from headbanging so much. 11/10 would definitely see them again.

First off, I went to this show for free. I didn't know who Watain was when I saw them or what I was in for. I only Goatwhore was playing and would have been my 3rd time seeing them in a month, but their van crapped out in Wisconsin Dells. The show was at Station 4 in St. Paul, MN. Station 4 didn't restrict Watain's stage presence and the sweet putrid stench of death replaced the stagnant air. I love raw satanic black metal and this stands undisputed as the best random introduction to one hell of a black metal show. So fucking glad they're allowed play in the US and allowed in the US.

Managed to get to the front by the time Watain came on. Their stage set up is one of the more interesting ones I've seen. They had fire and incense lit, and it set a perfect atmosphere for the music they performed. Of course they did the blood from the skull thing, which was something to definitely be remembered. One of the best concerts I've been to.

My first concert ever and I was so scared to go, but I'm so happy I did. It was a pretty small venue so they couldn't really do anything that they're used to, but the satanic incantations were on point and Erik said the angel of murder came which was fun. Watain kicked ass!

Show started a little earlier than expected but luckily I arrived early. Watain had 2 pigs head propped up on stage. And had a killer stage set @ show, as usual. Less rotting meat smell, (which is fine by me:)...

Kicked ass in every way possible! For the 6th time!

Great show as usual. These guys always give everything and this night did not disappoint, especially for being such a small venue. We got the full Watain experience hehehe! For those who have been, you know what I mean.

Watain killed the show was amazing. For the first time seeing Watain live also Revenge and Destroyer 666 the show was brutal destructive and fun.Id rerun to the Opera house in Toronto again to see another show their.

This was my first black metal concert and it's exactly how I expected a black metal concert to be. Watain went hard and they are really hardcore. So much force in the music and they did a good job live.

Darkness descends, the foul stench of rotting flesh fills the nostrils and the iron taste of blood lingers on the tongue – welcome to the world of WATAIN. Out of the infernal depths their voices do not cry to the Heavens. The sinister hymns of these Swedes praise the Lord of Flies in feverish worship as they descend on the left hand path.

WATAIN have once more created an epic masterpiece, which celebrates the eclipse of the light. “Lawless Darkness” amalgamates severe blackness with an uncanny knack for eerie melodies and a harsh beauty of the darkest kind, which even attracted Carl McCoy of FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM to add his vocals in a stunning guest performance.

Clawing their way out of the Black Metal underground yet firmly remaining a part of it since their founding in 1998, the Swedes have become a major player in the dark genre. WATAIN established themselves as a phenomenon of most sinister kind as soon as their 7” EP entitled “The Essence of Black Purity” was released in 1999.

WATAIN’s acclaimed debut “Rabid Death’s Curse” followed only a year later in 2000. The trio from Uppsala immediately gained a massive following by their merciless devotion and intense live rituals imbued with blood, fire and magic. Recorded in the chambers of Necromorbus studios, which owes a large part of its current fame and status to the trio, relentless Black/Death Metal lunacy “Rabid Death’s Curse” was received with a roar of appreciation from the worldwide underground.

Following the release of their debut, WATAIN began to hit the European stages with full force, performing along such bands as ROTTING CHRIST, DARK FUNERAL, MORTUARY DRAPE, ANTAEUS, MUTIILATION among others. It did not take long for the band to gain a massive reputation for their intense, ritualized live-performances embodying every aspect of traditional Black/Death Metal sorcery, violent ceremonies of blood, fire, death and magic. Their first complete European crusade – the Black War Tour- was raising hell in early 2002.

Expectations soared when WATAIN entered the Necromorbus studios once more in June 2003 to record their second full-length “Casus Luciferi”, which has been composed over a period of three years. This fanatical monument of magical Black Metal has been hailed as one of the most relevant underground releases of this extreme genre in the new millennium. “Casus Luciferi” proudly unleashed the horrifying glory of the true, dangerous and by many shunned Black Metal legacy, without a hint of irony, doubt or uncertainty. At the time of release, WATAIN embarked on the “Stellar Descension Infernal” Tour raging throughout Europe in an unholy union with SECRETS OF THE MOON and AVERSE SEFIRA.

In the following year 2004, WATAIN continuously invoked their demons on stages in the Czech Republic, Italy, Britain and Scandinavia, building further upon their now global reputation as one of the most passionate and eye-opening live acts of extreme Metal. When the darkness of winter fell upon the trembling plains of Europe, the Swedes embarked on a two-month and by now famous tour with their compatriots DISSECTION, marching victoriously through eighteen countries.

Again it took WATAIN three years to define the nature of the work that became their third full-length. Even more praise than already before was heaped upon the musical extremists after releasing “Sworn to the Dark” in 2007. This album proved to be another stepping stone in their steeply rising career and saw the band teaming up with Season of Mist for the first time in several countries. At the time WATAIN regarded “Sworn to the Dark” to be an immense discharge of magic and death that marked the release as an ultimate Black Metal monolith.

Yet another three years went by, in which WATAIN prepared to surpass their own achievements. With the hellishly seductive “Lawless Darkness”, the Swedes shed another snake skin to reveal an eerie beauty underneath. Their true dedication, epic approach and outstanding songwriting skills are bound to attract friends far beyond any black boundaries. The wolf pack is back and out to devour your heart, guts and soul!

To commemorate their 25th anniversary as a band, ruthless Swedish black metal collective WATAIN has announced the release of a live album titled Die In Fire - Live In Hell (Agony And Ecstasy Over Stockholm) which will be released on November 3rd, 2023 through Nuclear Blast Records.

After 25 years of madness and mayhem that manifested in seven studio albums, WATAIN‘s intense and much talked-about live rituals remain in a league of their own. Experience the raw power and fiery precision captured perfectly on this live recording from a sold out show that took place in October 2022 in Stockholm, and features fan favourites from albums such as Casus Luciferi, Lawless Darkness, The Wild Hunt, Trident Wolf Eclipse and of course the band's latest offering, The Agony And Ecstasy of Watain, as well as the BATHORY cover 'The Return Of Darkness And Evil'. The audio was recorded by Jamie Elton and mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio.

With all artwork created by vocalist and front man Erik Danielsson, Die in Fire – Live in Hell is not only a sonic but also a visual reflection of WATAIN’s touring cycle for The Agony & Ecstasy of Watain, and beyond that a symbol of gratitude for their loyal followers worldwide! About watain.

Watain are a Swedish black metal band from Uppsala, formed in 1998. The band's name is taken from an early recording by the American black metal group Von. To date they have released five full-length albums, as well as three live albums and a number of demos and EPs. Their most recent album The Wild Hunt was released in 2013 on Century Media and sold around 2,700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The band have become infamous for their Theistic Satanist views and for their live shows which involve pyrotechnics, candles, Satanic rituals, animal carcasses, and blood. At a now-notorious live performance in Brooklyn in 2014 they doused audience members in animal blood, allegedly causing members of the audience to vomit. This was picked up and publicised by TMZ, generating controversy around the incident.

Sonay Kartal catapulted into the top 100 rankings after earning her maiden WTA title on Sunday, but who is Great Britain's rising star?

Kartal is often referred to as Emma Raducanu's childhood rival. In 2014, the pair were pictured playing against each other at a junior tennis competition at the West Hants tennis club in Bournemouth.

A decade later, Kartal has now become the fourth British woman in the WTA top 100 rankings joining Raducanu, Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart.

She is also the 21st British woman to break into the WTA top 100 since 1975 and the ninth in the last 10 years.

Kartal powered past Rebecca Sramkova in the Jasmin Open final 6-3 7-5 to win in Tunisia on Sunday and only dropped one set on her way to victory.

Following her win, she said: "Right now it's unbelievable. I tried so hard to put the occasion and the score behind me and try to treat it just like any other match.

"It's been such a good week, I've played some of my best tennis and it feels like in every match I've got better."

While this may be the 22-year-old's first WTA title, she has been on the circuit for a while.

In August 2024, Kartal earned back-to-back ITF tournament defeating fifth seed Haruka Kaji from Japan 6-3 6-3.

She also qualified for the first time at Wimbledon this year earning a spot in the main draw after having received wildcards in the previous two editions.

She became the second British woman in the Open era to reach the third round at Wimbledon as a qualifier and the first since Karen Cross in 1997 after she beat 29th seed Sorana Cirstea and world No 45 Clara Burel.

However, Kartal fell in straight sets to second seed Coco Gauff in her third round match.

In 2022, she received her first call up from former British number one Anne Keothavong to join the Billie Jean King Cup team alongside Raducanu, Dart and Katie Swan and, although she was not selected to play any matches, Kartal said it was her dream to be selected.

She made her majors debut at Wimbledon in 2022 after being awarded a main draw wildcard but lost in the first round to lucky loser Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove.

In the same year, she also entered US Open qualifying for the first time but fell in the first round to Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera.

However, following successful performances in Slovakia, Kartal was able to break into the top 200. She finished 2022 ranked at No 198 which was almost 800 places above her 2021 year ranking of 998.

Keothavong: She deserves this success

Anne Keothavong believes Kartal is playing with more confidence and hopes she will use her success from the Jasmin Open as a springboard to enter into bigger events.

"She's someone who worked so hard and deserves this success," Keothavong said speaking on Sky Sports News.

"It came as a huge surprise, because obviously she had to come through two rounds of qualifying. I spoke to her last night after her victory and I think she was still in a state of shock.

"She couldn't quite believe what she had achieved. She played some fantastic tennis to win her first WTA title. That's huge and now she's got her ranking inside the world's top 100.

"I think for any player that's the major milestone. If you can break into the world's top 100 you're into Grand Slam, you're there on merit, you don't have to go through the rounds of qualifying and you can enter bigger events.

"Hopefully she'll use this as a springboard because at Wimbledon her ranking was only just inside the world's top 300 and she came through three rounds of qualifying to reach the third round.

"She's been able to continue to build and build and she's had her fair share of injuries and health issues over the past couple of years so for her to go out there and do what she did, the conditions in Tunisia suited her, but she's playing with a huge amount of confidence, and she's continuing to improve."

What's next for Kartal?

Following her victory in Tunisia, Kartal said her goal at the start of the year was to be in the top 150 and she has now ticked that off.

The 22-year-old now hopes to end the year remaining in the top 100 and has her sights set down under.

"I want to put myself in the best position for Australia," Kartal said.

The Australian Open 2025 will start next year on Sunday January 12 and runs for two weeks.

Supergrass announce new tour - and take swipe at Oasis on dynamic pricing

The 90s britpop stars have announced a tour in celebration of the 30th anniversary of i should coco - and fans will be pleased to hear their stance on dynamic pricing.

90s Britpop legends Supergrass have announced a new UK tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal debut I Should Coco.

And the band couldn't resist a cheeky dig at their fellow 90s Britpop band Oasis when it came to announcing their gigs. For they said: "Dynamic pricing won't be included" - a nod to the dramas around the flexible ticketing prices that emerged after tickets went on sale for Oasis's reunion tour.

Supergrass, made up of Gaz Coombes , Mick Quinn , Danny Goffey and Rob Coombes, are considered one of the most important bands to emerge during the 1990s.

Having split in 2010, the band temporarily reformed in 2019 before Covid brought a halt to a wider world tour. Now, they've announced they will be back in 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their chart-topping and much-acclaimed debut album I Should Coco and tickets will go on sale this week .

Throughout May 2025, Supergrass will play venues in Glasgow, Nottingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and Leeds, concluding at London’s Roundhouse. Following that, they head to the south-west for an appearance at The Great Escape Festival in Cornwall.

Fans will get the chance to see I Should Coco performed in full, before an encore of the bands greatest hits. Speaking further on the shows, Mick Quinn said: "15th May 2025 marks 30 years since 'I Should Coco'. Supergrass are thrilled to announce their return to perform the début album live, in its entirety, for the first time. Dynamic pricing not included."

The band formed in Oxford in 1993, and in 1995 Supergrass’s Mercury-nominated debut album I Should Coco hit the charts at Number 3, rose to Number One in the week following Glastonbury and ended up shifting over 500,000 copies in the UK and a million worldwide.

The album features classic tracks, ‘Alright’, and ‘Caught By the Fuzz’, sustaining huge cultural influence 30 years on from release. It was ‘Alright’, the band's fourth-single, and pop masterpiece, that catapulted them to global success. ‘I Should Coco’ now stands at over 1 million sales worldwide, and impressively, is the biggest-selling Parlophone debut album since The Beatles.
