About Your Guides:

Our guides are passionate about the outdoors and sharing their knowledge and love of nature with others. They are experienced interpretive naturalist guides that have extensive experience paddling in coastal environments. They are knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, as well as the history and culture of the Lowcountry. They are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests, and are equipped with the necessary skills to handle any situation that may arise.

What to Bring:

We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that can get wet, as well as shoes that can be secured to your feet (such as water shoes or sandals with straps). Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses are also recommended, as well as a water bottle and any necessary medications. We provide all necessary equipment, including kayaks, paddles, and personal flotation devices. We recommend leaving valuables at home.

Jarvis Creek Water Sports, provides kayak (and fishing) rentals, nature tours in Jarvis Creek’s unique tidal wetland environment of Hilton Head Island, SC.

Jarvis Creek Water Sports is a small outfit and operates by calling ahead to make an appointment  for tours and rentals during the weekdays, since we may be out on the water with a tour. Our kayak tours on Hilton Head are small (up to 10, but usually less) unlike some outfits where you feel like part of the heard. This provides a relaxing and non-stressful experience when you kayak on Hilton Head in Jarvis Creek.

Jarvis Creek Water Sports is nestled among the Oak trees, overlooking the water behind the north end Crazy Crab Restaurant , we are located in the back of their parking lot. Use the Crazy Crab entrance and after your tour / rental enjoy lunch or dinner there.  (located around mile marker one and Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center, between the bridge on to the island from Bluffton and the toll road which crosses over Broad Creek)

* We have come across a few recent reviews online which are always good for others to see and hear as well as we are pleased by how many who return to kayak with us multiple times over the years and share reviews which are positive but a comment or two relating to nature tour reviews we noticed could have had a possible more pleasant time on tour by looking at our common Question and Answer page or calling us for guidance on what to expect during a 2 hour tour . If looking for best times on wild life viewing (based off tides which change daily and lower tide tours tend to fill up faster or maybe limited to the cycle of the timing of tide rotation) or information about a tour’s speed or average water time of 80-100 minutes ( rentals are more of a water time, with most common being 2 hr kayak rental and people still only out about 80-100 minutes average because of heat and tidal currents that are under estimated). Before scheduling kayaking, look over the  Question and Answer page  which answers most common asked questions we are asked that we wanted to bring more attention to on the front page by mentioning it again, so not just in the page links, which will help guide you in your planning for kayaking, otherwise gives us a call if you have further questions we might be able to help with.

Be Advised:

By appointment, main days Tuesday – Thursday and closed weekends except multi-days rentals, it is best to call a day ahead 843-681-9260 (if no answer, leave message)  because operated as a one man shop, if on water or no appointment, the shop is unmanned or on second job… Flip Flops are not recommended, hopefully not needed but shoes which hold onto your feet are advised for safety incase of turnover… Any sun protection, only shade is cloud cover… Wildlife viewing is better around the lower half of the tide cycle, which changes daily… “ Lots of helpful info on this site.”

EXPLORE THE PALMETTO DUNES LAGOON

Witness an assortment of wildlife or try catching a variety of fish, such as a sea trout or black drum, during your canoe or kayak trip here in scenic Hilton Head. Upon your departure from Hilton Head Outfitters, you will be fitted with a properly-sized life jacket and given a map of the lagoon system. There are several Hilton Head Island kayaking and canoeing routes from which you can choose, depending on the desired length of your adventure.

Our Hilton Head single kayak rentals allow for your own solo navigation through our relaxing and beautiful lagoon. Single kayaks rentals have a weight limit of 275 pounds and will accommodate one person.

Double Kayak - Lagoon

Our Hilton Head tandem kayaks rentals allow you to paddle in pairs and spend quality time enjoying nature and all the beauty that Hilton Head Island has to offer. These kayaks are designed for two people and can accommodate up to 500 lbs.

Three-Person Canoe - Lagoon

Triple canoe rentals are the perfect solution for families or friends who want to explore together. These canoes can accommodate three adults or two adults with two small children plus fishing equipment. Triple canoes have a weight limit of 1,225 lbs.

If you do not have that experience, please join one of our kayak dolphin nature tours for the excitement of seeing dolphins and other wildlife and learning all about Hilton Head Island and all the fun stuff the Island has to offer!

Kayak rental prices are for a 2-hour period . Sorry we do not offer 1 hour rental pricing, though I think you’ll find that many of our competitors charge the same rates for just 1 hour rentals.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED in all months!  And please note that we are open every day but we are not staffed at the water location for rentals or tours every second of the day so a reservation is required. In the offseason if  you show up without a reservation, there most likely will be no one there to rent you a kayak as we too are enjoying the slower season. In the summer months showing up without a reservation most likely will mean that kayaks will already all be reserved. We tell you this here to try to save you the aggravation of showing up and not being able to get what you would like. Simply call us before coming out to make a reservation and we will be sure to have kayaks ready for you. Often a same day reservation is just fine during these slower times of the year and sometimes in the summer too but you must call  843-684-1910  before coming out for a rental or a tour. OR of course you can click the “BOOK NOW” button to book a tour reservation. Thanks!

(Note: Kayak tour prices include your kayak. You do not have to add a rental to the price of your tour. These rental prices are for those looking to kayak on their own without the tour. Please note, kayak rentals are for those that can demonstrate that they are competent to be out on the water on their own and without a guide. Though we are there to help you, you must be able to demonstrate that you can get in and out of a kayak unassisted otherwise for safety reasons we will require you to join a guided tour instead. SINGLE KAYAKS

$30 for up to two hours, double kayaks, $45 for up to two hours.

Our kayak rentals are for a two hour period. In 2 hours you can explore the same areas where our tours go to look for dolphins. (Please note that we do not allow rental groups to wonder through areas of oyster beds because of damage it causes to our kayaks.) Kayak rentals are a great way to go relax and explore on your own though if you are interested in exploring into the marsh where most of the oyster beds lie than it is best to be with a guide that knows where these oyster beds lie which is often just below the surface of the water. We are happy to offer the best advice we can as far as the best places to go looking for DOLPHINS!
