cruise control not working
- Add to quote
07 HD Road King Classic Cruise control was intermittent first now not at all working..Do I start with a fuse? Location of fuse? Thanks
To my knowledge, there is not a fuse specific to the CC. The fuse panel is under the side cover. Just pop it off. It's easier if you pull the saddle bag. If it were a fuse, it would be one of the accessory fuses. Fuses typically are not intermittent. They're either blown or not. Especially the blade style that H-D uses. The 2007 has the older mechanical cruise control. The unit itself could have failed. Other issues known to cause CC to fail would be the failure of one of the brake switches. Check to see if your brake lights are staying on. If they are, one of the two brake switches has failed. Check them. The front brake switch is in the front brake lever housing and the rear is in the brake line coming from the rear MC. On that model, there is also a sensor in the throttle idle cable. If that fails, it could prevent the cruise from engaging. Trace the throttle cables to where they go under the tank. Just before they do, you should see a bulge in the cable with two wire spades on it. There will be a wire on each of those spades. Unplug them. If the cruise then works, you will have to replace the cable to again have the throttle roll off function on the CC. Otherwise, you can leave it unplugged, but you'd have to tap a brake or turn off the CC to disengage it. Of course, it could just be failed wiring.

Mine quit after removing and installing throttle cable. It was out of adjustment. The unit is set to disengage when it senses throttle up. If your cable is out of adjustment it reads throttle up when it really isn't. After trying to get it right and failing, I disconnected the connector. No more worries.
Thanks so much, Ill undo those two wires to start.
